I remember worrying about how to end the story and how much longer I should keep it going. I'm glad these days I know the ending before writing. It makes plotting so much easier.

I don't brag about these early efforts too much, since they're definitely not as well-written as later ones.

You never know. I loved the premise and tried to carry the story forward, but you're right, a certain character and his cohorts took over my world. I think this could have made a good novella at about three times as long.

CJ probably knows kilt etiquette better than the others, but he won't pass up the opportunity to get the Aussies riled up.

One idea I discarded was flashing back to Pam meeting Liebe right after birth and showing signs of her depression. Decided against it, wanting her behavior at Xmas to come as a surprise. Can you imagine holding all that pain in for so long?

I'm toying with the idea of introducing a wheelchair-bound character. using Carson Tueller as a guide. Google him. -
I do the same with sex scenes. Hell, most of them are written for the sake of including sex without a real purpose. These days, I just say they went at it. Unless it was really important to the story. Like with Chipper in his spinoff. As for politics, the disdain shown bothered me a lot, but I've made peace with it. Although I know some readers abandoned the series, I made it clear from the beginning CJ would be a political animal. He is what he is, and I'll keep writing him that way.

I was recently thinking of Martin's Tavern and decided I want CJ and Owen to stop by for dinner when they're back in DC. They can sit in the Proposal Booth and explain the proposal to Liebe. Last I heard, Paylor remains in a wheelchair. His politics got a little too right wing for me, so I stopped following him on social media. As for the guests count, obviously they exceeded it. Where it to happen a few years later, between family, the Elite, the Squad, the Wing, and the Juniors (and significant others) I was already at 100 people! Add in politicians and movie stars.... -
Weather has been weirder for us this year. We had the coldest morning in a decade (upper 30s for 10 minutes in some areas) but mostly's been overly warm. I just returned from a long motorcycle ride and it was glorious. I didn't even mind the assholes on the road. Much. Northman probably doesn't even realize what he's doing wrong. Rules and regulations are fine, but when faced with someone like CJ, you have to make allowances.

I discovered Vega Sicilia wines back in the early 80s and bought at least one case I remember. It was pricey then, but these days they're out of my price range. Same thing happened with Opus One. Since CJ and Owen can afford them, I live vicariously through them.
