    Chapter 20

Unless Marc's parents die painfully on the way back to whatever hole they climbed out from, I'll be disappointed. They never worried about their own son but were willing to put him out on the street to supposedly benefit others? If he gives them money all he does is encourage them to try something similar in the future.
  2. I have a few characters in my big series who were scullers at Georgetown University.
  3. @raven1 Yeah, I doubt Google would recognize Mom. That was my mother's full name. She died while I was working on this story. Her last name was de la Teja and in Latin countries, most women kept it and added the husband's at the end.
  4. CJ's love for Owen may be holding him back, but he got carte blanche to deal with her. Let's see what kind of punishment he decides on.
  5. It seems to me the louder and more radical the comments the governor makes, the more he's liked by the unwashed masses. His anti-business positions (Disney and his failed attempt to outlaw private diversity expenditures for example) may create problems for him. We may be witnessing a new shift in party politics and I'm not sure how many of his views corporate America will be willing to accept.

    Cautious Man

I didn't want to fall into the meet & love trope, and I didn't think CJ was ready for anything serious. Sixteen, full of raging hormones, with a big city as his playground, are not a good combination for anything serious at this point.
  7. Considering he's moving to the US in a few months and will live with Brett and Cesar's best friends, I think him sticking around is a good bet. LOL
  8. Glad you enjoyed it. `
  9. CJ has a mouth on him. And it doesn't go away. LOL If anything, based on something that happens in the story currently posting, it's gotten sharper.
  10. Owen was quickly embraced by readers. He's a good egg.
  11. I don't know if they're still up in the CJ discussion thread (I doubt it) but I shared a bunch of pictures of my trip to Australia while this story posted. Most locations are real (Liston Winery isn't even if @WolfM featured it in Embers.) A few I discovered while researching, the majority I visited in 2009. I'd always wanted to visit Oz and the trip was a late 50th birthday present to myself.
  12. Isn't Harley a trip? He lightens up every chapter I write him into.

    Dedication

LMAO - Most of this book takes place in Australia and it will prove to be a life-defining trip for CJ. New people, new places, and new experiences. Hope you enjoy this one as much as the last two entries in the series.
  14. Thank you, Albert. I'm really glad you're along for the ride. CJ now has wheels and that will open new opportunities for adventure. Can we say road trips? LOL

    My Hometown

CJ's fathers have empowered him to stand on his own and not be intimidated. Lourdes has no idea what a strong young man her son is. Any attempt on her part to play nice will be rebuked and who can blame him?
  16. Isn't it interesting they discarded their son and now are all concerned about his soul? The hypocrisy! Although Dr. Harding became a recurring character, he didn't get as big a part in the story as I originally intended. He'll be around often.
  17. One fantastic side to having new readers comment on old chapters is I get to visit with characters I may have deemed as throwaways when introduced. I may have to revisit those two cops to see where they landed. Walmart may be too classy for them. Maybe Dollar Store?
  18. Not really an ending, though. More like a new beginning. I obviously had a lot of stuff to unravel after this one. Without looking at my notes... Tom's the oldest one in the group and Doc's next.
  19. I scanned the chapter to refresh my memory and realized what a foundational one it is for the series. All those boys and the family foundation will be integral to the series. Even after CJ's a married man with children of his own.
  20. To this day, I experiment with different formats. Sometimes based on outside influences, as in the final chapter of Summer; sometimes based on whatever event dominates the chapter as in this one. It was a significant event for the four men, and I wanted to get their reactions out. I don't think I've used the internal thoughts approach again.
  21. I often said, and recently repeated, that Washington would be one of the main characters. You can place New York and Miami in the rung just below. I made a lot of friends from New York in college and the city became a frequent playground in my twenties. Since I started writing this series, I've visited a couple of times and each time came home with new ideas to explore and places for CJ to visit. His parents allow him to travel on his own from an early age, and having a crash pad in the city will come in handy. Just wait until he celebrates his 21st in Manhattan. Yeah, that was a spoiler. LOL
  22. LMAO Whenever I introduced a new male character in CJ's age range, there were calls for a boyfriend. But, if you haven't figured it out by now, you should realize I set out to write something a bit different than the usual teen angsty romance. Our protagonist marches to the beat of his own drum, and I think that's been one of the reasons he and his stories became so popular.
  23. We have a "Presidential Party" coming next week. And of course, all good events are followed by an "After Party". LOL
  24. CJ's proven he can handle the physical confrontations and the events in this chapter prove he's just as adept in verbal battles. I wouldn't say he's quiet, instead, I'd label him as calm and deadly. In a way, I'm glad Marco won reelection so I get to use him as a punching bag again.
  25. Petty? No. We all have the right to share our good fortune with whomever we want and shouldn't feel obligated to anyone because of blood ties. You are a better person than I am. I would have made it clear not to expect anything from you and why. The older we get the less we should worry about what anyone thinks about us. If they disrespect you, they don't deserve the time of day.
