Gabe is a primatologist plagued by dreams about alien abduction. They wake him up at night and disturb not only his sleep but his partner's, and his scientific endeavors as well.
There are faint echoes of Sir Arthur C. Clarke in this wonderful tale. From the opening scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey to Childhood's End, and including one of my favorite short stories of all time: Reunion.
The author's imagination gifts us a science fiction yarn worthy of elaboration. Exploring the ancient questions of "Are we alone in the universe?" and "Why are we here?" the ending and implications left me wanting more. This is a gem worth reading.
Thanks, Beavis!
I had to read through the chapter to find the Toys R Us reference; I couldn't recall it. That reading was enjoyable; this was a pretty cool chapter. It was fun to see what CJ and Ritchie were like three and a half years before the latest chapter. My how they've grown.
As for the TRU reference, I mentioned them again in my outline for a future chapter and had to go change it since they're now closed. It's what made me decide I had to be careful with real-world references while writing in the future.
Butthead
Thank you, my friend. I always try to get the details right but much more so with this chapter. I knew they would get married as soon as I started writing the story. Over the past few years, I refined what I wanted and spent time researching everything from locations, to outfits, to catering. I'm so glad you enjoyed it all.
I know it's supposed to be a tearjerker but what I remember are Dukakis and MacLaine and their bickering. Describing the football team's uniforms as aubergine still cracks me up.
To quote Olympia Dukakis (I think it was her) talking to her friend in Steel Magnolias (Yeah, I know it's a chick flick): "You are evil and must be destroyed!" 😈
Thanks, Jeff
CJ may take after Cesar in his planning but he has Brett's sense of humor. Neither one takes themselves too seriously. Although Barack and Michelle do have a good scene in the next chapter, I tried to limit the name dropping and star appearances. There'll be some during the reception but for the most part, I tried to concentrate on CJ, Owen, their family, and their BFFs
Glad you enjoyed it, Chris.
I'm ready for the reception. Champagne to start and Liston wine with the meal. And lots more wine during the honeymoon. I think I was channeling @Defiance19 when I wrote those chapters.
Thanks, Dave. I seem to be making people cry a lot recently. I think the reception and the honeymoon will not be as emotional and hopefully, tissue usage will decrease.
Thanks, bud. I definitely didn't want the old suit or coat and tie attire. I thought about mirroring the colors of the rainbow and decided to instead play around a bit. Super straight Thiago gets to wear a pink shirt and the Kennedy brothers evoke their Irish heritage by wearing green. Their outfits are practical and can REALLY be worn again.
The Obamas get a little dialogue in the next chapter.
Expect a call from my attorney. Name of Michael Cohen. He's my fixer and will discuss with you how to stop these horrible rumors about me being romantic.
After all the buildup, I'm glad the chapter resonated with you and others. I added the number of days since they met at the last minute. It should at least show I'm more of the slow burn type. Yeah, my characters may be the type to jump in bed five minutes after they meet, but they'll take their time before committing to more than a roll in the hay. This one's forever.
More classic Harley in the next chapter. And yes, Sean makes another appearance.
Thank you!
I write primarily for myself. As I told someone recently, I'm aware I have a certain style and I'm happy with it. The fact that style and what I write can move readers it's gravy. When someone tells me they cried or laughed over something I shared with the public, the hard work is worth it.
Hope crying at work didn't get you in trouble.
Thank you, Avid.
The reception will once again bear the imprint of the grooms' personalities. As for the song, I wanted to use old music so I started to plant the seeds of Chipper liking those songs a long time ago. The duet between Stewart and Latifah is one of my favorite recordings.
