    @Jaro_423 Welcome back! I recall you reading and commenting before and wondered why you stopped. I'm glad you're reading again. I do remember one of your comments in particular. Something about certain cultural references not being familiar. If you find yourself in the same position, ask. I'll try to explain.

    My editor has been a huge influence. One tiny example. How many times have we read 'so and so nodded their agreement'? Not in my writing. Nodding signifies agreement so the last two words are not needed. You'll find dozens of similar examples in my stories.

    You can thank Mann for the format. He keeps pushing me to write shorter chapters focused on a single event. And he likes lots of dialogue since it's easier to edit! After the chapter posted, I read it again for the millionth time. The final toast made me tear up LOL Our little, scared kid's growing up.

    I try to say as much as possible with as few words as possible. That also applies to my writing. If you ever read anything of mine, you'll notice my writing is a bit more stark and subdued than others.

    Carlos Hazday is an author who does not shy away from hot topics. 'Hunting Season' is a story that deals with the reality of racism, and how one young man took a stand against it. CJ is a shining example of a hero. I highly recommend this story to anyone who believes that one person can make a difference.

    @Defiance19 I ditched a bunch of references to the holiday spirit and decorations since I wanted the focus to be on CJ's birthday. Still tried to capture the magic of NYC the weekend before Christmas. The holiday reference comes in in the chapter after the birthday party. Really glad you enjoyed it.

    Unlike some authors, I don't write as I post. My stories are entirely written before I begin sharing them. That means I can't/won't change it based on reader comments or requests. My advice would be to read over previous portions of the story to refresh your memory. Every character's appearance has evolved, and I share changes as they happen. Inserting a full description for any of them at this point would not make sense. And as far as the picture is concerned, it would not be in compliance with GA community standards, so it won't be showing up here.

    Your namesake in the series works for the CIA. That can be dangerous. Maybe I should kill him off instead. But you're right. I do like to set things up so they don't come out of left field. One reason I've avoided the long-lost relative showing up. Although I do have one in mind I may use at some point.

    He uses me to chronicle the fun stuff. Like so much in this series, I've used something real and extrapolated for my purposes. I gave them the wild night the previous evening so this one was upscale. But we saw how CJ felt in the morning. Been there, done that.

    I think the violence in Deadpool is tongue-in-cheek whereas in The Punisher it's just there for the benefit of teen males. Let's hope with Disney buying Fox and reclaiming rights to FF and the mutants, we get some good stuff in the future.

    The show's okay, I like the Marvel stuff on Netflix better, even though I grew up on DC. Just watched The Punisher's second season and loved it. But then again, we already discussed my affinity for bad guys/bullies getting beat up and left bleeding. LOL

    I'm still pissed I wasn't invited and had to rely on what the guests told me afterward. BTW, dinner @ 21 for his 21st was inspired by something similar about 40 years ago. My friend Kathleen Michael Mulcahey (nice Irish girl from The Hamptons), invited 21 friends to celebrate her 21st. We didn't have dinner at 21, we bar hopped, and one of our stops was there. It was a cold, snowy, January night, we rode limos everywhere, and we ended up dancing at a Brazilian club until sunrise.

    I've actually been toying with doing that. Just to prove I can do it. Some people around GA seem to think if you don't have characters full of self-doubts and miserable the story's not worth reading. The chapter was designed to bring the entire Squad together for one final joint appearance in this book. I wanted to show the warmth amongst them on a cold winter day. The event takes place in December of 1018, if CJ had waited a month to be born, I would have had fun with this week's weather. CJ's still searching for his testicles, they refuse to drop until the temps climb above freezing.

    Thanks, buddy. Some time ago I remember @Cia mentioning something about reaching all of a reader's senses. I've been trying to do that a few times in this book. One of the reasons I've described wines and included at least one song per chapter. I think the best one will be during a visit to Fire Island in the summer of 2019. Coming up in a few chapters. I mentioned the 21-character-dialogue to you before. What did you think of it?
