    As in 2022, half the planned stories are part of the CJ series. Two are related, and two will feature all new characters. With Thiago's story, instead of writing into the future, I've decided to post a chapter a year covering his time in Atlanta. I foresee him being back in Washington after 5 or 6 years, so we have a few more entries to go.

    Happy new year, my friend. Let's see how much I can get done. The first two stories are written and ready to go. I'm about halfway through writing the third one. After that one, I'll work on the 2023 Earth Day story, but after it things are fuzzy. LOL

    You have no idea how much the bride and groom will remember their wedding. CJ may have something to do with the peripheral activities.

    I wanted a blurb to convey the story's feel without giving too much away. I liked that passage. Christmas sucked. Yeah, I got to spend Christmas eve with a brother, his wife, and my nephews, but the Miami HEAT lost on Friday night and the Miami Dolphins lost yesterday afternoon. And I still can't explain the lump of coal I found in the living room yesterday.

    Writing's therapy. Some days, I end up editing (my own work or others') instead of writing, but my mind seldom stops planning. I'm currently working on Capitol Hill, which chronicles Owen's parents visiting Washington and their initial stay at Everhope.. The previous time they'd seen each other was Christmas 2020 (Ripper Christmas) and there may be lingering tensions where Pam Liston's concerned. However, Prime dropped season four of Jack Ryan this month, and now I have the urge to write about politics and espionage. James Bond, Jason Bourne, Jack Ryan, and CJ Abello... I should have named my guy John or Jeff to have another first name starting with a J.

    LOL... and have everyone complain when I skip posting on a Friday? I'm scared of pitchforks. Plan is to post a short prologue and chapter 1 on the 1st. Then, a chapter each Friday for the rest of January. I also have a different story ready to go. That one will post in February. Working on something for March, but not sure I can get it done in time.

    Yeah, when looking at skyline pictures while writing, I counted less hand a dozen tall buildings, but the mountains in the background were majestic.

    Afghanistan and Iraq are in the news these days, but persecution of women in Muslim countries isn't anything new. One more example how religion is used to oppress certain groups.

    I did toy with the idea of a short Christmas story, but when I started outlining, it ballooned out of proportion. They're all in Washington for the holidays, but I'm not sure what they're doing for CJ's birthday tonight. He likes lamb best so... Like any self-respecting family with Caribbean roots, Noche Buena means roast port, white rice, and black beans. Christmas will likely be ham or a big roast, and on Boxing Day (as seen in Cadet) they'll spend a chunk of the day at Jose Andres' World Central Kitchen.

    Thanks! I've read the story countless time, and Clarke's storytelling is as magnificent each time as the first one. Talk about packing a punch in a flash piece! Really glad you enjoyed it, Dave.

    Nope. This is a sore subject for me. All Mom accomplished was make Dad miserable until she died. The day after her funeral, he had a cigar in his mouth. When he was living in the ALF alone, my brothers and I kept him well supplied. Last time this one woman told me I should quit smoking because it was unhealthy, I suggested she stop eating because being as fat as she was, was unhealthy. And the worst part is the hypocrisy. Most of the meddlers think nothing of drinking and getting drunk although it's unhealthy too. For the record, I'm a reformed smoker, but quitting was my choice.

    Aaron's a grown up man. Stop nagging. If he wants to smoke, let him. I would frequently scream at my mother when she nagged my dad for smoking cigars. What is it with you people? Can't you live and let live? Aaron, buddy, I'm sending you a carton as a Christmas present. 😁
