Yes it is. On its own, it is pure hell. However it is a natural source of Monosodium glutamate, which the most powerful flavour enchancer available If you stick your knife in a jar and pull it out , and apply it to a cheese sandwich, your are using too much (recommended max is 4g). However if you add it to a sauce or gravy, it is beautiful. But be careful with how much you use. A small amount is good, too much and it is the Trash Can/ dustbin.

This is superbly executed story. The build up of the tension as the narrator moves towards telling his mother, the choice of his partner, his background. Believing the narrator to be male, the revelation that his mother knows is the shock. It is very good story. Looking at it with the view that the narrator is female, the revelation is that he is male. That is an even better story.

This story was excellent, in a number of ways:-On description level; I loved the way the weather was described, and the appearance and smell of the food.Minor symbol level; the use of tea and cooking food for someone. When I was brought up, you always offered tea and obliged to drink it, as a sign of friendship, not to drinking it no matter how foul was a deep insult. Cooking a meal for somebody was a sign of deep friendship. At a higher level, telling and trusting the ultimate secret, which is anathema to most people. Out of this World.

This for me has a smooth flow, going logically from one scene to another. It is beautifully written, with a logical ending. It was easy excellent read, and all the better for not having a hot sex scene.

I think that this full fills the aim of the anthology (No Turning Back) the best, and would title it “A Chance Encounter___No Turning Back”. I can imagine an encounter described actually happening. A typical love story but a good one never the less. The twist after the first day was unexpected, how it progressed was a masterpiece.

The last time I commented on this short story, other people had said what I had wanted to say. Now to me it is one of your best stories. As ever it is gently written, forcing me to continue to read it. Scenes that are of blood and gore, are hinted at but still give me that impression. The underling theme of love and unity with the earth "Gaia" comes thru. It is to me complete, the cycle has been completed. Mystic and Knight, are now one completely. However I want more, as I always do with your writings, I hope it is a prequel? But will be content if it is not.

Graeme always produces entertaining and worthwhile stories. When I read this in Last June, I thoroughly enjoyed it and revelled in the way the story exists in a number of levels. The first part can be read as a straight story, then the second part enhances and changes the first part, and makes you think. Now re-reading it after 6 months, it still retains its attraction, and with the new thought of “Hope” which is what remained in Pandora Box, subtly enhances the story. This I think is the best of your stories.

Circumnavigation 64: Slips of the Tongue

I think you are criminally underdescribing how utterly, revolting, foul, distasteful vegemite (which is supposed to be a marmite copy) is. They claim it to be edible??? -
Chapter 1: The Greatest Sadness
Red_A commented on Toast's story chapter in Chapter 1: The Greatest Sadness
This to me sums up our relationship with our godson who we looked after over three summers. I may use it on his birthday card or maybe not. It may not be your understanding, but to me it is just as good. -
After a first reading , what is it? a grieving lover, a spoilt child, a driver distracted by a loved one, a unfaithful lover, a wronged lover??? It is beautiful how you can read and understand in a number of ways. It is beautiful how it is crafted, how long must it have taken, how I wish I could do something like it. After reading it a number of times, I think I know what it means, but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Everyone should read it and take their own meaning away. Excellent, a number of times over.

I hope you are not offended by this but this poem, I compare to some of Dylan Thomas little known poems. Dylan was a drunkard. It was said that he composed under milkwood and his rythming/alliteration poetry when he was drunk. When he was sober he wrote poetry based on form, where the shape gave meaning and could be read in different ways according to direction. This poem beats his poems outstandingly. I thinks this deserves a number of reading to get the full beauty of the peom. Beautiful.

C James has been unwell recently, and is now in the process of recovering. As a result, he has been slow in copying his stories across. I am sure they will be copied across eventually. They( LTMP and CL) are currently available via his site C James site. Please comment or leave a review here on his forum. I am sure he would welcome it. -
Circumnavigation 63 : Clouded Judgement

Ned Kelly in chapter 62 described him as “Aye, so you’ve met the “Aye, so you’ve met the bogan bludger. He’s not the owner; he’s just a freeloading crook, and bad news all the way ‘round. . He’s not the owner; he’s just a freeloading crook, and bad news all the way ‘round. Now I believe the translation of "bogan bludger" is a rude trnslation of lazy trailer trash?. May be this is what the town believes? -
In general, I agree with you. However although a sub sect of Belgium were an extreme harsh invader of africa. But in this instance, The Kingdom was invaded by German in about 1885, and formed part of German East Africa until 1914. Belgium took over Rwanda after 1918. German, I understand, recognised the different of Tutsis and Hutu as one of caste or class, and exploited that as a means of divide and conquer, using the smaller higher caste to rule the more numerous lower caste. Belgium took over this policy and took it further. As you say, there was probably no difference originally, and today there is probably the only different is that of 6 generation of interbreeding. But now! Utter hate and fear. A classic example on man's inhumanity.

I wonder how it feels to be at the edge of sahara in july The cool thermal winds of the day and the warm thermal winds of the night are local winds and although may be quite strong on the coast , disappear as you go out to sea, so that they are non existent when you are in the Canary islands. The dust which comes from the Sahara is lifted into the higher atmosphere by a local storm (depression). This is then blown by global winds (I am told on average once a month) to the Canary Islands. And occasionally beyond to North America. The local people would be totally unaware of the dust, but welcome or detest the local wind if a gentle one or a harsh strong one. sending a hurricane to there (north Atlantic tropical cyclones) Exactly how a hurricaine is formed is not known. However it is known that they form as tropical depressions over the extremely warm water around the Cape Verde Islands and move west across the extremely warm waters and build in strength. Does anything of sort happen in austrailia? Australia suffers from Tropical cyclones and tornadoes just as the United states but they are not as strong or as frequent. In general tropical cyclones cross the coast as tropical storm strength and not as hurricaine strength. Tropical Cyclones pathes and strengths I hear weird things that storms come out of china and send it to fillipines or was that the other way around?? China and the Philippines have the same weather as the eastern United states and the Caribbean., only worst. It is said that the worst place for tropical cyclones and tornadoes is the Philippines. And in general all the weird things that happen in the States and Caribbean occur in China and the South China Sea but stronger.

The wind along the north west coast of australia is basically a south east trade wind (from the southeast) This is the wind that was likely to push Atlantis out back into the Indian ocean. BUT in addition to that, there is a local wind, a thermal wind which is cause by the Australian desert. This blows from the sea into the desert. This is know as the Fremantle Doctor in Perth and blows from three o'clock arising from nothing. Carnavon is in the middle of the desert, and the wind is stronger and occurs earlier. When I saw CJ chapter, it was in November and I started to monitor the wind from a local web site, and the wind did behave exactly as described, with the wind going from the south until mid morning then increasing suddenly, and veering round to come from the west. For completeness I should mention that it occurs around most of the coast of Australia, in the spring and summer, where the basic wind is modified by wind off the cold sea, is blown in to the hot continental low over the desert, that it starts from 10 o'clock and lasts until one hour after dusk and that there is a corresponding wind in the opposite wind. It is not unique to Australia but occurs in the states, the prime example being the Columbia Gorge, where it start at 10 every day in summer. (In realty it blew for 20 days out of 20 when I was on Holiday there)

first a point of clarification on Bumble Bee post. I believe Bumble bee refers to 100mm or 4 inches when reffering to 100mils not 100 thousands of an inch (UK/USA engineering usage) It would appear that this year is a El Niño/La Niña-Southern Oscillation cold year (LA Nina). The result is that cold water from south america mixing with the warm water around the east Queensland Coast is causing a very unstable moist warm cold air mixture to be blow over the Queensland coast. The results are numerous storm clouds which provide local downpours of 4 to 10 inches per hour which can last hours. As mentioned by BumbleBee these results in local flooding where the local ground does not absorb the water and big problems near rivers or normally dry rivers. The mountains do catch most of the storm rain, but a significant portion gets over the mountains. It has been proposed that this year is particular bad because the La Nina current is further south than normal? La Nina years, this is to be confirmed by events. As to the near future, The La Nina water may move further north in which cause the rain storms will disappear or if it stays where it is, sudden violent local rain storms will continue for the next two months until the end of the season. As ever this is very simple explanation of a very complex subject.

It is too late here to go into detail, but remember a goose is like a duck, and roast it with the bird in aroasting pan.1/2 to 1 inch above the pan floor on a trivet/tray/vegatables, to allow the fat to run out of the goose and be collected and to trim any excessive fat. Important GOOSE Fat is nectar so do not throw it away but use for roast potatoes in future weeks. Since the goose is normally very rich, have an unsweetened apple source. This is taken from a BBC site, and works for English birds My link I have never used USA birds which may be slightly different, I have suggested that you preheat the oven to a higher temperature than recommended. Also if you have a fan oven reduce temperature by 10 to 20 degrees F. Remove excessive fat from inside of bird cavity and only fill cavity to two thirds full with stuffing Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas5. suggest preheat 425F and immediately bird is in oven reduce to 190C/375F/Gas5 Prick the skin of the goose all over with a fork. Season with salt and pepper. Lay some of the fat removed from the cavity over the thighs to keep them moist. Cover with Al. foil and place on a rack in the oven with a tray underneath so that you can empty out the fat regularly. Roast a 4kg/9lb goose for three hours, a 4.5-5kg/10-11lb goose for three-and-a-half hours and a 5.5kg/12lb goose for four hours. Remove the foil for 30-40 minutes before the end of the cooking time so that the skin can brown and crisp. To test it is cooked, pierce the fattest part of the thigh with a skewer. If the juices run clear then the bird is done. Rest for 20-30 minutes, oven turned off with the door ajar, before carving. Good luck and a Merry Christmas to all

although the original of this is not a carol, it was the first carol Miss Simms taught me as it has only 3 notes, four if you are unlucky! Looking out of the window now. This one is more appropiate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gMJL_7M6OQ I first heard this sweep's urchin about 10 years ago busking, and although he has a very measured delivery, I must point out that german tv does not allow minors to sing live, and it shows in the perfect delivery and perfect prenouncation (for an english boy)

Air temperature at 50 degrees south currently about 40 degrees F At true wind of 30 knots and apparent wind at 20 knots wind chill feels 30 degrees F There are three problems with temperature Note sea ttemperature about 40 degrees F 1. The shock of actually hitting water. It is common for people in summer in the UK jumping into 4 degree centigrade water and dying from shock. Trevor probably would be safe, as he should be used to the initial shock. 2. Exhaustion, too tired to get out of water on his own 15 minutes. 3. Unconsciousness to final state 30 to 90 minutes. These are very approximate and should be taken as half lifes. ie half the population would be exhausted in 15 minutes Although these are the offfical USA figures, I am Aware of a reasonable fit indivual who fell off a tug in these conditions and when he was recovered less than 3 minutes later he was dead.
