  1. I found my way here thru a link to Dom's stories at another site. I eventually joined and have been hanging around ever since. Jan

Just when you think you know someone, you find out more. This sounds more like a sit-com instead of a morning routine. One Christmas, several years ago, I gave a friend an alarm clock. This wasn't your typical alarm. It was the type that you could pick up when it went off and throw across the room to shut it off. Jan
  3. Hey Bud, now I understand what you were talking about in chat. And yes, I figured out quickly what it was you wanted for breakfast. A lot of foods are regional. I think anymore, you can find Sausage and Biscuits just about anywhere. A couple of years ago, at work, we were talking about Cream of Wheat cereal. I mentioned that I grew up on Coco-Wheat. And before anyone asks, it's the same as Cream of Wheat, only it's made with cocoa. This is something unheard of here in Southeastern PA. I checked some of the local groceries and couldn't find any. I wound up that year, on my annual trip home for Christmas in Indiana, buying a few boxes and bringing them back and giving some away to the people at work. Of course I kept some for myself. If your a fan of Cream of Wheats, you'll love Coco Wheats. Considering the location of Little Crow Foods, in Warsaw, Indiana, I imagine they are available in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. You can also check them out on the web at http://www.littlecrowfoods.com Hang in there. >Hugs< Jan
  4. Happy Birthday Dom! And best wishes for many, many more.
  5. One thing to take into consideration is the website itself. A site as big as GA, with all the authors and stories to be found here, it would be a major undertaking to all new chapters on one day of the week. Another site that I visit, posts all new chapters on Saturday. There's at least 2 stories there that I follow. This works for me as 2 of the authors I read there are posted on alternating weekends. This works out for me as it gives me something to read while I do my laundry. Jan
  6. I don't know how much national coverage is going on concerning the shootings in Lancaster County, PA, but the local networks haven't given it a rest yet.
  7. Unfortunately, this took place not all that far from me. And it's the third such incident in Lancaster County in a years time. It's been reported by his wife, that 20 years ago, this guy molested someone and he was dreaming about it again. That doesn't give him the right to do what he did. He could have gone for help, or just taken care of himself. There was no need to take innocent lives with him. On a side note, Philadelphia isn't the place to visit. As of 10/1/06, there have been 299 murders. Some of those have been children and teens. Jan
  8. I'd like to add something to this. Big enough to read without a magnifying glass is good too.
  9. As most of you know, I'm Nick's editor. I'm not here to defend him, he does that himself. During the time I have been working with him, I have gotten to know him. Besides our working relationship, we've developed a friendship. Does he have a sense of humor? Yes, he does. We all do. Does he have an opinion? Yes, he does. WE ALL DO, (I'm not shouting, just emphasizing.) As I've told Nick, and other's, we are all entitled to our opinions and people will disagree with each other. As I told Nick over the weekend I have a lot of love and respect for him. Jan
  10. Actually, Boxerdude, and not that I intended to give any spoilers to the story here, the Icarian's may be referred to as Angel Boys, they are actually, boys with wings. This and more will be explained as the story goes along. As for the boys all being gay, maybe, maybe not. The story is more about tolerance and exceptence on who you are and not what you are. The story does have two Wizards, Jamie and his Brother Loran. Jamie has a mate, Nikolas (Nic for short) and they are a mated pair. This too, is explained. The Scrolls of Icaria is by for my favorite online Sci/fan story. If anyone else here follows this story and would like to know more about the Orbs in the story, then follow this link to The Talon House where I have all the orbs posted, with Jamies permission.
  11. We have a Winner!
  12. Everyone should know this one, TGIF. Then theres, TGIFAPD.
  13. Nick, I think you and I have talked about this before. From what I've read in WTDBMAY, your dad cares for you very deeply. And it's apparent that he shows that love, even if it sometimes is in the form of worry. Something that I learned along time ago with my late boyfriend. Phil was somewhat empathic so the angrier I got, he feed off that and was even angrier. So we learned to walk away to give us both time to cool off and then get together again, sit down and talk it out without all the screaming and yelling. It was a lot more productive in the long run. This can work for any one. That was sweet of you to call Tay and let him know you wouldn't be at the party, and even sweeter that he came to you when he could have stayed. Jan
  14. Some that I grew up with. IRDGAS - I really don't give a sh**. IRDGAF - (I think you can figure this one out on your own). There was also, IDGAS and IDGAF.
  15. If anything, some kind of notice should have been sent out to those effected.
  16. I took a look at the tag. It's colorful, but eye catching. It also says Hosted Author on it. Even though a blog may be considered PUBLIC since members can access it, at least you didn't put it into the forums for everyone to see, including guests. Another alternative you had was to send an email to Myr expressing your concerns about this issue.
  17. Hey Nick, your the one doing the awesome job. I'm just helping you fine tune it. Jan
  18. The same can be said about ST:TNG. There's also a few Star Trek skins that can be used. I have one of my hosted authors set up with a Borg skin. I have seen one for The Federation and DS9.
  19. The ranking goes up with set number of posts. As person's number of posts increase and reaches the next level, a new title appears along with the next button. These are what I use: Lurker 0 Newbie 1st Class 10 * Newbie 20 ** Member 30 *** Full Member 40 **** Advanced Member 50 ***** Post Junkie 60 ****** Post Addict 70 ******* Master Poster 80 ******** Post Master 90 ********* Grand Post Master 100 ********** Grand Post Master Junkie 150 *********** The post numbers may seem low, but since I don't have many active posting members, I kept them low. As Admin there, I have the power to change titles as well. Thats at The House, besides the Admin tag, you would see Lord and Master which I probably should change in keeping with the theme.
  20. Not exactly a back to school tale but a similair situation. Back when I was much younger, I would get the same way with new people at work. It would take me awhile to warm up to them for the first couple of weeks. Once I got past that, things went okay. When I became a supervisor, I had to change that. You can't be a supervisor and not talk to people. You'll do fine.
  21. I for one understand what they are doing. I use them at The House.
  22. Your Linguistic Profile: 60% General American English 15% Dixie 10% Yankee 5% Upper Midwestern 0% Midwestern What Kind of American English Do You Speak? http://www.blogthings.com/whatkindofameric...doyouspeakquiz/ The midwestern parts surprise me since I grew up in a midwestern state. Guess I've lived in Pennsylvania too long.
  23. I've been using a Toshiba laptop now for over a year and I've had no problems with it. I bought it at Staples. And at the risk of getting yelled at, Wal-Mart carries them now. Talon
  24. Happy Birthday, Kevin.
  25. I've noticed that since the release of Invisions 2.1, it's a lot friendier to Firefox. The copy and cut/paste functions don't work tho. When ever I've tried to use those, I get the prompt to use these. Control C to copy and Control V to paste.
