I also thank you for the Sunday surprise. A great chapter, lots of fun --- with a dose of spy-movie tension/excitement near the end. I loved getting a quick glimpse of so many old friends at Liebe's birthday party. Especially getting to hang with Lincoln for a few minutes. Also, loved seeing Jimmy & Spike. How weird CJ, having Jinzhang sneak on him like that. It gave me the shivers. Could these words from Jinzhang be a sincere promise that you'll have CJ call upon in a future story? “thank you on behalf of the Chinese government. If you ever need something, here in Mexico or wherever you end up in the future, call me. We owe you.” Jinzhang's "heavily accented Spanish" reminded me of a college chemistry professor who was also Chinese. He had learned English in Germany, so his English was almost unintelligible.

It's surprising that the CIA didn't make the China-Panama investment connection which was obvious to CJ.

I think you already had more non-American characters just with the cocktail party in the first chapter. Except possibly for your Atlantis story, where you described the entire nation/species "emigrating."

John Roberts will be 86 when CJ takes office, so CJ could well be the one to appoint his replacement. If we're imagining SCOTUS carnage, how about this: all the Trump-appointed justices keel over from the shock of CJ's election.

@Mawgrim you are a great writer. Even knowing from other stories that the boys would be picked up at the very last moment, I was still got all tensed up and then had tears of joy when they were rescued. Thank you for such a great chapter. I'm looking forward to their reunion with Kemi.

Wow! A lot of twists and turns. Such a passionate family. And sometimes pretty dysfunctional. On the other hand, they truly know each other, so they can cut through the bullshit to understand what's was going on. This time what's really going on is a lollapalooza.

Another interesting chapter. The turbulence of the past few chapters seems to have calmed. It's a hoot that Dechen's friend booked them to stay at Dechen's family's farm.

This was a fun story, especially once Vince got to Kodiak. I also suppressed my aliveness when I was young, coming out in my mid-thirties, so I could relate to Vince's anguish and confusion. I spent most of the 1970s living in Alaska, around Fairbanks then Anchorage. I visited many parts of the state, but never made it to Kodiak. I following Vince and Cagey's hiking via Google maps satellite view. Alaska is truly a magical place. Thank you for hosting by nostalgic visit. I'd also be interested in you extending this story.

Wow! There's sure a lot of excitement in this Buddhist teenager's life. Lots of opportunities for Dechen to put the teachings into practice. Will the arrival of Jake and Palden interrupt Dechen's plan to go camping with his friends?
