He hasn't found this thread yet...but um, here's a link... http://www.colddeadfish.net/csdlr.html warning, lots of pictures of food in there...It's a straight couple who Trebs is friends with and they take pictures of all their meals before they eat them. There's even pictures of my birthday plate from the March 2006 birthday party they took me to...(it's her birthday as well). Oh, and if you like Disney in any way...that site can take hours to sift through...

Please do not blog about going to D-Land. Robert LOVES D-land and we haven't been able to afford it for a few months. You're going to make him want to go (oh and beware, Trebs has contacts with this big group of season-pass groupies that will show you how to spend every last dime you have on D-land stuff. They even meet up there like almost every week and many of them gay, and there's even a cutie or two...) *sigh* I DO like going...and it is different with friends rather than with children. My niece and nephew were scared of every ride (although that was in Disney World and it was kind of our fault for taking on them Space Mountain the first day). They were scared crapless about Splash Mountain but finally went on it...although my niece didn't look as we went down the big drop...and was crying to hard to enjoy Briar Rabbit laughing at her. Oh, and they liked Pirates, after we had to use all our cajoling powers just to get them on the ride and they screamed bloody murder until they saw the first Jack Sparrow...

Um, sounds like a dream that I would turn into a story...especially the last bit of it. Ask Trebs how many times I've woken up after a dream and started working it over in my head until it becomes a story. There are like six stories in my head waiting for me to find the time to write them down and make them a reality. Go with it!

Hmmm, funny, Dom, I'm writing a character right now that really reminds me of Evil T. Thanks for the ideas. If anyone wonders why Trebs won't be posting for a while...he's been sent down to Modesto for a couple of weeks to give my cousin a break. He'll be taking care of my grandmother 24/7. For those that remember Grandma Jones from Do Over, my real grandmother makes Grandma Jones look like a sweetheart. Dom, those girls better be glad that you are your sister's brother rather than I. Me, I'd be getting male friends to go in there to their work place and make a scene with ET and VSC. It'd go something like this: (Cutest Guy I Can Find) - "I'm sorry, I just can't take it anymore. Half the time I'm sleeping with you two it's like I'm just the self-powered vibrator you two need while you make love with yourselves in the mirror. I've had enough. I'm going to find me a guy that can love me better than you two." Of course there will have to be lots of people around the workplace to witness this horrible confession...

SCM has been around since 1921. They are a good, old-fashioned liberal christian organization that has been working to support gay rights since the 1990's (when I first heard of them as a college student). In the past, they've been active in protesting things from the internment of Japanese civlians in WWII to the Vietnam War and to current conflicts. For the past decade, they've been fairly active on gay issues and are good allies... -
Bob, I disagree. Nickolas is a smart young man with passion and opinions. That's a good thing. Remember I was a Republican until 1992 and that awful convention convinced me there was no hope for that party. Now I'm a very liberal socially, moderate fiscally Democrat who doesn't like being called a wuss when it comes to defending this country just because I belong to the Democratic Party.

Nick, I hate to have to ask this, but do you think about these things or just regurgitate what you've heard? No political party is what it was...the Republicans were once the party of Lincoln, but his best ideals have long since been thrown to the wayside by modern day Republicans like Trent Lott, Bill Frist, and Rick Santorum. BTW, it was Bill Frist who recently said we should give up the fight in Afghanistan and hand it over to the Taliban, not a Democrat. Jack Murtha did accuse our soldiers of murder...probably BECAUSE THOSE TROOPS DID COMMIT MURDER. There are rules in warfare, rules our troops are expected to follow. They learn those rules in boot camp, just like I did when I served in the United States Navy. Why don't you go look them up and read them? They're available on the web. If you can find in there where it is permissible for soldiers to go into a house of civilians and murder them in cold blood, or to go and rape a woman before killing her and members of our family, I'll say I was wrong and join you in condemning Jack Murtha. So far several of the troops who have committed murder while in uniform are being brought to trial, some have pled guilty already, and others have been found guilty. Guess what, Nickolas, war does not excuse murder, rape, or torture for that matter. The majority of our troops, fortunately, do not behave in the manner above. They try to not harm civilians whenever possible while pursuing the enemy. Those that have committed murder, well they snapped. They snapped because they are in a hell of a war zone where it's impossible to tell friend from foe half the time and where nightmares walk the streets every day (oh and no, those Murtha referred to didn't kill the families in the heat of combat, they went back after combat was over and committed murder as an act of revenge). Most of the troops in Iraq are on the second or third ONE YEAR tour of duty...and it's causing so much stress on them that they are breaking. Hmmm, I wonder who to blame for that? Let's see...it's been Bush and Rumsfeld who say we have more than enough troops to do the job...even though the job is not getting done and every damn day more soldiers die over there. They say we don't need more troops in uniform, even though half the people in Iraq have spent more time in Iraq the last three years than they have at home. These Republicans are breaking our Armed Forces and trying to pretend band aids will fix things. We never should have gone into Iraq, and at this point there's very little we can do there that will restore order. We're about to lose Afghanistan as well with the Taliban resurging in strength. If we 'stay the course' we'll see epic defeat in both countries, and you damn well better believe they'll be over here next, because Bush and Rumsfeld are INCAPABLE of stopping them over there. So far, there isn't a Republican on the field who can take them on and win. For one reason we don't have enough soldiers. For another, we've ignored the non-military aspects of handling terrorism. We won't win this war by the strength of the Army, the Navy, the Marines, or the Air Force. They are tools in the war, but they are not the path to victory. No Republican I've heard yet seems to grasp that fact. Want another bitter pill of truth? We need to drastically increase the size of our Army. Last year when they weren't getting enough recruits, the Army DECREASED their quotas for new recruits so the news would report that they were meeting their quotas. Guess what the end result is...a smaller Army. If we can't get recruits to volunteer, it might be time for a draft (again, an issue only DEMOCRATS have even been willing to consider because Republicans prefer to Hear No Evil, See No Evil, and Speak No Evil - hence the whole Foley problem they're experiencing...it's just another example of how the Republicans approach to things is a losing methodology). Joe Lieberman isn't a good democrat and you sound like the pages of REDSTATE spouting off about him. I hate to say it...but the Republicans were right about Joe in 2000...he is a sore loser. The democratic voters of his state have spoken, and they chose someone other than him. He lost the election fair and square and he's throwing a pouting fit. The only reason Republicans say that he's 'good' on defense is because he has his nose so far up George Bush's butt it's hard not to mistake them for a gay love affair. (No wonder they turned a blind eye to Foley). Nickolas, it's always a good thing when young people get involved and interested in politics. It's even better when they hear the truth instead of lies. I hope you might learn a few things, which is why I'm taking the time to write this when I should be working on a count book. 1. Let's take the 'list' first. There IS a list of gay Republican staffers circulating the halls of the capitol. At least ONE liberal (i.e. Democratic) blogger has gotten his hands on this list. In fact, he got it and publicly refused to post it or name any name on the list. He blogged about it to encourage others with access to the list to NOT release the names on it. Who is circulating it? Who is threatening to release the information? Unless you visit right-wing sites the answer isn't democrats. So far it's right-wingers who are saying it's democrats. Who led our fight in WWII? President Roosevelt...a Democrat. Who dropped the atomic bomb on our enemies? Harry Truman, a Democrat. Who faced down the Soviet Union when they tried to put nuclear missiles in Cuba? John F. Kennedy...a Democrat. Who spent milions of dollars keeping Saddam Hussein boxed up and regularly ordered the bombing of his military when they tried to set up military sites that violated the peace treaty? Who regularly attacked Al-Quaeda and ordered several missile strikes and bombings of their facilities despite pressure not to do that? Who sought to invade Afghanistan to attack Osama BEFORE 9/11 occured? Who ordered the arming of Predator drones in the hope that they could be used to kill OBL from the air? Bill Clinton...a Democrat. More later...

Hehe, not a bad idea, if we could just get all the folks to move... Endless showings of Brokeback Mountain with a promise of building up a nice big city nightlife maybe? We could get our lesbian sisters to join us and things would be good...we could even be nice and have a few straights in the State legislature with us. Gay Marriage Legal - heteros can have domestic partnerships? We'll be nice and let straight people into the National Guard without having a Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. Yegads, could you imagine the panic from the other religious states? Not to mention the screams from the business sectors? Montana's a pretty state you know... Let me thrown my hat in the ring for Governor.

I love how instead of coming up with facts, the first thing you do is try to use an ad hominem attack against me. Did my list ruffle your feathers, Rob?? Appearently so. So here's what you need to do. Go get yourself a list together with Republican crooks and post it. Surely it can't be that hard to do. I don't remember ever saying in my post that the Republicans are more honest than anyone other party, I merely pointed to the fact that the Democrats are full of crooks. Show me one place in my post where I said the Republicans are more honest or more committed to doing right by anyone. It seems to me that you made a bunch of accusations before you thought. I would say you really ought to think twice about who you're calling naive. Disband the UN!!! Nickolas, you're a writer, and a good one at that. A good writer knows how to make a point without having to declare it openly in the text of his writings. Now if attacking Dems was not a conscious intent with your post, try re-reading it from a perspective of a reader, not the author of the words. Again, make the honest attempt to look at it the right way, as a reader as well as the writer. Especially take a look at the last line...the U.N. is a very imperfect organization with a lot of problems...but they've done more good since their founding than they've done harm. Many times if we listened to them (especially right now as they cry for help in Darfur, this would be a far better place. Why should we disband the UN as you encourage without any supporting information?

Give yourself a pat on the back, Nickolas. You have provided a wonderful example of basic politics. When your guy is caught with his pants down, you point out that the Emperor has no clothes. By diverting attention away from your party's current problems and onto past problems of the other party, you hope to make people either forget your party's problems, or to become so disgusted they give up.

I know I've actually used the click ads a few times...a couple times for the good old s*** and giggles factor because it struck me as funny, and quite a few times because i actually saw something interesting. I've also used the Amazon ads to buy books once or twice...always a good thing to do. I've also donated, and hope to spare $20 in order to donate again...Myr has at times spent a LOT of money from his own pocket to keep GA going and expanding. If it's possible to keep him from having to spend more, than I'm all for it... As for having advertisements...their presense is highly desirable compared to having to raise money each month to keep the bills paid... -
Nick, You're opinionated, and I for one absolutely 100% do NOT hate you. In fact, your willingness to not only hold an opinion, but to justify that opinion and to defend yourself is admirable and deserving of respect. I might disagree vehemently with your opinions, but that doesn't mean I can't like you...(just ask Myr...)

We are a not a pure democracy, and neither are we a pure Republic. This nation is a democratic Republic. Not all power to legislate laws are entrusted solely to a deliberative body elected by our citizens. At the state level, we, as citizens, regularly vote up or down a series of propositions that become law based upon our vote. Those propositions may be brought before the people by their legislature or by petition of their fellow citizens, either way, people vote directly on laws that will govern them (an example are the anti-gay marriage amendments in various states). We are also a nation founded on certain principles. We weren't created as a nation from the beginning, originally the thirteen states that founded this nation were colonies of the British King. When he took our citizens prisoner without charges, treated them poorly, passed laws without the consent of the governed, the founders of this country rebelled, establishing the greatest Democratic Republic this world has known. (last part of the sentence is my opinion) We went to war in 1812 in part because our citizens were being apprehended without having committed a crime, and forced into abusive labor by the Navy and Army of the King of England. We went to war with pirates based out of Tripoli when they raided our ships, enslaved our people, and tortured them. In part because the founders of our country rebelled against a King who had no respect for what the founders believed were inalienable rights granted by the Creator to ALL men, they established certain safeguards, certian principles, into our legal system. These include that no person shall be imprisoned without being charged with a crime. Every person charged with a crime has the right to face their accusers and defend against evidence brought before them, and they have the right to a trial by a jury of their peers (average citizens, not government lackeys). Our constitution applies to our citizens and to those brought into lands that we control. That is the way the founders of this country wanted our legal system to work, so that this country would never become as rotten, as self-serving, as despicable as the government they rebelled against. They wanted this country they were creating to indeed be a country that respected the inalienable rights of all men. The Geneva Conventions were established in an attempt to bring some civility to war. Many great nations were tired of seeing their sons come home broken shells of the men they once had been because they were not fed while imprisoned by their enemy, because their enemy tortured them, and many other negative things. The United States is not just a signer of the Conventions, the United States was a driving force behind the Conventions, in large part because the principles of the Geneva Conventions are the same exact principles upon which this country was founded. The Geneva Conventions go so far as to say that just because another country violates the Conventions, any signatory remains obligated to the requirements of the Conventions. Why? Because a truly civilized nation does not commit uncivilized behavior just because someone else does. A civilized nation holds to its principles to the bitter end, because to be otherwise is to be the same as the barbarians we oppose. Further, the Geneva Conventions were approved by the US Senate. They are not 'foreign laws', they are UNITED STATES LAW by an act of Congress and the President of the United States of America. We are bound by the conventions as part of our own laws, not because other countries say we are. (I hope they still teach how Treaties become law in high school). It is my belief that since September 11, 2001, we have become a nation our founders would despise. If they could, they would strip the mantle of "United States of America" from us so that we would not share a name with the nation that they founded. We have, in short, become the barbarians we are fighting against. When we choose to abandon the principles which once made this nation the greatest on Earth, we are diminished, we become something less than we once were. It is the sad truth that we have done this before, especially in times of war, and after the war is over, we have hung our head in shame. That is especially true when we find that the actions we took alienating the principles of our founding were not necessary and did not protect us any better. (An example, the imprisonment of American citizens of Japanese descent during World War II. Not one instance of prevented attack was found by that great besmirchment of the principles of this nation, and yet we stole the property of millions and forced them into camps, denying them liberty and the pursuit of happiness). During Vietnam, while thousands of American Prisoners of War were being sadisticly tortured by the enemy, we prosecuted those on our side who gave in to the temptation. We did not imprison every citizen of Vietnamese descent, we were outraged at the picture of a South Vietnamese officer executing a TERRORIST with his pistol in the middle of the ravaged streets of Vietnam. Now, in the days when the number of Americans who died on 9/11 is surpassed by the number of Americans killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, we are a nation that tolerates the imprisonment of people without their facing charges or a trial. We are a nation that allows the torture of human beings, merely so that we may feel safer behind our ivory towers and propped-up walls. We are no longer the nation that cried "Give me liberty or give me death!" and we most definitely are not the nation that said "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Were we such a nation today, we would not be torturing human beings so that we might think our mother, our father, our siblings were safer (especially since they are more likely to die by a bolt of lightning than a terrorist incident). Nor would we be holding people prisoner without charging them and bringing them to trial. I for one want justice, I want to see the enemies of this nation captured, put to trial by the laws of this nation, and then executed for attempting to kill our citizens. I do not want this barbaric behavior our President had dragged us into committting. As for Iraq, not here, not now. The mere concept that we are in that country while the REAL perpetrators of 9/11 are roaming the Pakistan mountains unchallenged, and our government has approved a peace agreement between Pakistan and Al-Quaeda brings real red to my eyes, and I really begin to wonder if your parents and siblings are any safer today than they were on September 11, 2001.

Dom, I think most of us have similar problems with our stories at one time or another...and all I have to say regarding that article...after having lived in the Phoenix area for nearly seven years...the folks out there have half-baked brains. (almost kidding there Birds...)

Ya know Dom, sounds like that bird has you wrapped around his talon about they way the dogs have Robert wrapped around their paws. As for Angel and Buffy, both were great shows. Angel kind of grows on you over time...and he really rocks in his own show. Only thing lacking way a really, really good gay kiss between him and Spike (Vampire with his hair dyed blond and a british accent...Angel's whipping boy.) Give it some time, it'll grow on you. Now you really want to get him going...go get the first season of Battlestar Galactica and make him watch it with you...you'll both be hooked. Just going to make one comment about the 9/11 section...did you mean 9/11 and the war in Iraq are NOT related? Depending on what day of the week it is we get a different reason why we went into Iraq, but it's been proven ad nauseum Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks on 9/11. have fun, dude, and watch Battlestar Galactica!
