Samuel, I am removed from you by many decades but found myself reflected in many of your thoughts. I hope my next thought is not depressing for you but I am moved to tell you that although I am now in my 9th decade of life, I am still searching for some parts of my true self. I am the eldest son of the eldest son of an Italian immigrant.
Raised Roman Catholic I accepted that I would become a priest or get married and have lots of bambinos. I was married for more than 30 years and had two grown and married children before accepting the fact that I am gay. I have now had the same partner for more than 25 years. And, although we are in a loving relationship, I am still searching for the next segment of my life.
Wishing you peace and contentment as you continue your own journey. Enjoy each day.
