  1. That, sir, is music to my ears. And yes, "Endings" brought you around... and I'm proud of that.
  2. Lol. Fair point. If you're going to do it, go big, right? And, you did get one sequel... but you can still be greedy. I kind of like it.
  3. Ideally, readers don't think about changes in POV. As much as I try to stick to one, at times it benefits the story to switch it up. Of course, the first chapter they meet was done in Tobyn's POV because it allowed me more freedom. I could have done it in Kellar's, but when weighed out, I chose Tobyn's voice. The insight into Tobyn's thoughts and feelings in this chapter let us understand him better. That's not to say readers aren't frustrated with his stance, but we can understand where it comes from... hopefully. Breaking point? Possibly...
  4. I believe it is something I understood as a reader but never really thought about until I began writing. Dropping big chunks of narrative is something I learned to avoid because they interrupt the flow of a story. Readers are more likely to absorb details from dialogue. That said, there are times narratives are necessary, but even they can be made more palatable as inner thoughts and conversations from a character. Miss Sybil is the best! One of my favorite characters of all time for so many different reasons. It was rewarding that readers took to her so easily.
  5. Nope, it won't be the next chapter. But, it will be a reprieve from Kellar's intention to go back to his cabin. I'm glad he took a moment to appreciate he cured a girl of cancer. I think to him, that is what is most important, not his own happiness. I admire his strength. Thanks, buddy.
  6. As hard as it was to write, this remains a very special chapter to me. Glad you liked how the healing was presented. We see kellar at his very best here, doing what he is meant to do, and we get a real glimpse of how incredibly special his gift truly is. Bless Adelin... she would have been a great loss to an already grieving pack. The ending represented that connection, and how their closeness made them stronger, as it did during the healing.
  7. Exactly. They are tuned to one another in that way many of us have that special connection. This chapter is tinged with sadness. We all want Kellar to be happy, but at this point, how will that be possible? Unrequited love, or love pushed aside, is one of the worst feelings in the world. And then there is Adelin, and Kellar must carry on as he's always done, putting others first. Thanks, Terry.
  8. What a great comment to wake up to. I had to get my chores done before I could sit down and respond, but it kept me smiling while I did so. Writing is about balance, and it took me a while to learn that... and I'm still working on it. Characters drive a story, but when it comes to a mystery, so much relies on the details, many of them subtle, but often recallable when something happens later. I learned so much in writing this story, and while I can see the use of too many commas, I'm still immensely proud of the work. And yeah, Elinor is the best... and some of the glue for the story. Thanks so much for this, Terry.
  9. And I have lots of comments to respond to this morning. Yay to rereading Sidewinder and Larkspur! I say Morningstar is my best work, and it is, but there was maybe a little more advancement in my writing skills when I wrote those treasured western stories of mine. .
  10. Lol. "Sorted' has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? I love writing about love, and I loved writing about these guys. Yes, they're love. They are the best of love, blessed by the earth mother herself. Glad you love them too, buddy.
  11. So, the cat who had four kittens now has three. She moved them up onto the veranda where she feeds them. One is mostly white and two are grey... one dark and one light. The white one which I might call Falkortwo looks like it has an eye infection. I have antibiotic drops but I will wait a few days to see if it clears up on its own.
  12. Just got back in from a walk in the woods with Cookie. It's a beautiful warm evening, and I think I brushed a hornet's nest with my foott because there was some angry buzzing going on. I hightailed it out of there and none chased me.
  13. Hopeful romantic. I like that. Guilty as charged. Sappy works for me, and I don't steer away from it. Yeah, you should brace yourself... there are plenty of bumps ahead. Thanks, Dan!
  14. Canada won the gold medal. Woot!
  15. I caught everyone by surprise with this one. You have no idea how excited I was to finally be able to reveal what I knew right from the very first chapter. I made sure that in writing Warren, he would never be considered for showing up later, and certainly not as Adelin's mate. So much fun!! Gotcha! I wondered what you would think of this... thanks for letting me know.
  16. Feeling very tired today, Albert. Just going out to through the ball for Cookie, and then I will feed, scrub the water trough, and then watch the rest of the Canada/Germany hockey game and maybe have a nap. How are you?
  17. Lol. Tobyn is Tobyn, and I will make no apologies for him. Once he's there, though, he's all in. This chapter and the one before it were incredibly important chapters, and I still remember how I fretted over getting every detail right. I'm very proud of how I got us to this point. It still gives me a feeling of satisfaction. No matter where they go from here, they will be together as mates. Cheers, and thanks, Dan.
  18. Lol. I mowed mine yesterday. So pleased you are enjoying the story... and how I told it.
  19. I get it, Dan. Comments give me encouragement and validation, as well as feed my muse, but it's always the reader's choice.
  20. Happy Sunday/Monday, all!
  21. Arctic hellscape? I like my four seasons... and it's only cold for a couple of months, and nowhere near Arctic levels.
