    Chapter 22

Hey! We got to watch a couple ball games! Actually, while that was fun it was also instructional for Devin. Bryce's comments to Devin at the end were also instructional. At this point, Devin needs a lot of instruction (on interpersonal relationships) and I hope he's taking notes. A good chapter, Hunter!
  2. The prevailing opinions seem to be that Robbie *is* the mysterious boyfriend. There is a lot of evidence in that direction. But I don't think Nathan wants to be anyone's secret and he told Robbie it would probably not be wise to come out. "It would be difficult for you in that house." You also sprinkled a handful of other clues in that direction. And so, we'll just have to wait--well done, Dodger!
  3. Charles called, twice actually, to thank me for his portrait and to congratulate me on my show, on my paintings and my decision to apply to Abington. We had told him about Abington over dinner when he was here. He asked if I had been in contact with anyone else from the family. “Only Clarence’s apology text, when I was in Texas.” “Do you want me to suggest anything to anyone? Maybe explain your exhibit? Recommend they contact you?” “No. Please don’t. I’m not ready yet, and I’m pretty sure the
  4. Happy Birthday Caz! be strong
  5. So wise, so young, they say, do never live long. Richard III - WS *** Twoey was gently rubbing my back. It felt so good to have my boyfriend rub my back. I was still groggy. I thought of opening my eyes, but they were refusing to do what I had asked of them. Then I realized it was a dream I was awakening from. Twoey was not my boyfriend! But someone actually was rubbing my back. I slowly lifted my head but couldn’t see anything. My eyes were stuck shut! I began to be aware of a dull
  6. Thanks, Lisa! Yes, there is definitely a little barrier blocking David's path between what he understands and then acting on it. But it's always been this way. The only difference is that now the stakes are so much greater and his control is so much less. Rocky times ahead.
  7. Thanks, Lisa! Haha--you sounded exactly like a spikey rant! That's what you get for binge reading chapters of Twoey! Now take my advice. The next several chapters are even MORE emotionally challenging and intense, so take your time reading them.
  8. Thanks, Lisa! This was one of those times it was good Twoey had the full compliment of friends behind him. No way would they have let him get sucked back into Erik's little prison. Yeah, it doesn't pay to be a threat to one of Gary's gang, does it? Everyone is lamenting the lack of adults during this critical period between Christmas and New Years. But when has the presence of those adults ever made much of a difference? They might as well all take off, for all that it matters.
  9. Thanks, Lisa! David not witnessing the Erik fiasco was certainly a good thing for two reasons. First, it allowed him to have a stress-free and happy day. Second, his Twoey-protection mode would have kicked in and he might have done some serious physical damage to Erik.
  10. Thanks, Lisa! Yes, David misinterpreting Keating is sort of typical for him. He has all these ideas swimming around in his head (and that dream was sure one bad idea) and then jumps to the wrong conclusion. We've seen it before, but this time it could lead him to a catastrophe.
  11. Thanks, Lisa! The problem with Donny is that he is tempting David in a non-threatening way. But at the same time, he seems to be falling for David hard. And we certainly know from reading David's mind for so long that this is going to be trouble!
  12. Thanks, Lisa! Yes, at this point Twoey is at risk if he stays in the relationship and even if he gets out. What he needs is some outside help. Maybe from Syracuse?
  13. Thanks, jt! And thanks for the insight! Yes it wasn't a dream. That's not much of a spoiler because the next chapter goes up in about two hours.
  14. Thanks, Ron! He's pretty far gone. The troops really need to rally around or they will lose their friend.
  15. Thanks, jess! There really is nothing to do but watch in horror, I guess. He's to the point now where he must save himself. There's no one else to help him and even if they were around, he probably wouldn't listen.
  16. Thanks, Parker! While Friday was a horrible day, with his head pains exposing the impossible paradoxes he's forced his brain to solve, the next phase, the aftermath, could be ultimately worse.
  17. Thanks, spikey! You'll see (next) that 911 was almost called. THAT would have been a little embarrassing for the family and the shrinks. Lucky for David(his body) it was only half a liter. I'm sure it'll still have its aftereffect though.
  18. Thanks, Hunter! David's breakdown was bad enough before the alcohol. Now he got his hands on a weapon his body has no defenses against.
  19. Thanks, CG! You're right about the mind. And David's has been building this fake life-scenario for him for sooo long, which it now sees coming apart. And that could be catastrophic.
  20. Thanks, Lisa! David is SO ready to unburden himself with Keating, but the session won't be as he had hoped. More trouble ahead for our vulnerable little hero. And then it will get worse. Alex got a reality check. Luckily she has a gay brother who has gone through a struggle, himself. That might have helped her see the futility of being 'Mrs.' David. She will become a strong, though hurt, ally.
  21. Thanks, Lisa! Good memory about Donny! Whatever else David thinks, he has impeccable gaydar and seems to ping the gaydar of the other gay boys! Yes, Burch's nightmares and flashbacks will become plain, soon enough. And Donny will help with that breakthrough. There ARE a lot of 'C' names, aren't there. And there is a whole theme about 'C' names in Toph, too! I should probably mention that to my therapist.
  22. Yes, Jeremy is an asshole. Will is better off with Bobby.
  23. And a sterling year it was! If I got this much enjoyment from the Freshman year, I'll need to brace myself, somehow, for the next! Great story! Fantastic writing!
  24. I agree with Parker that this detente with Fran is more than fraught with danger. I'm not sure what Nathan will do. Even if he tells Robbie he believes the story, there will always be that nagging doubt that he will forever play second-fiddle to Fran. This will, of course, ruin any future relationship with Robbie. Or, he could not believe Robbie and push him away right now. In either case, his posing naked and his poisoning any Nathaffair will lead to Robbie maybe reaping what he has been so blindly sowing.
