  1. Thanks, Lisa! David not witnessing the Erik fiasco was certainly a good thing for two reasons. First, it allowed him to have a stress-free and happy day. Second, his Twoey-protection mode would have kicked in and he might have done some serious physical damage to Erik.
  2. Thanks, Lisa! Yes, David misinterpreting Keating is sort of typical for him. He has all these ideas swimming around in his head (and that dream was sure one bad idea) and then jumps to the wrong conclusion. We've seen it before, but this time it could lead him to a catastrophe.
  3. Thanks, Lisa! The problem with Donny is that he is tempting David in a non-threatening way. But at the same time, he seems to be falling for David hard. And we certainly know from reading David's mind for so long that this is going to be trouble!
  4. Thanks, Lisa! Yes, at this point Twoey is at risk if he stays in the relationship and even if he gets out. What he needs is some outside help. Maybe from Syracuse?
  5. Thanks, jt! And thanks for the insight! Yes it wasn't a dream. That's not much of a spoiler because the next chapter goes up in about two hours.
  6. Thanks, Ron! He's pretty far gone. The troops really need to rally around or they will lose their friend.
  7. Thanks, jess! There really is nothing to do but watch in horror, I guess. He's to the point now where he must save himself. There's no one else to help him and even if they were around, he probably wouldn't listen.
  8. Thanks, Parker! While Friday was a horrible day, with his head pains exposing the impossible paradoxes he's forced his brain to solve, the next phase, the aftermath, could be ultimately worse.
  9. Thanks, spikey! You'll see (next) that 911 was almost called. THAT would have been a little embarrassing for the family and the shrinks. Lucky for David(his body) it was only half a liter. I'm sure it'll still have its aftereffect though.
  10. Thanks, Hunter! David's breakdown was bad enough before the alcohol. Now he got his hands on a weapon his body has no defenses against.
  11. Thanks, CG! You're right about the mind. And David's has been building this fake life-scenario for him for sooo long, which it now sees coming apart. And that could be catastrophic.
  12. Thanks, Lisa! David is SO ready to unburden himself with Keating, but the session won't be as he had hoped. More trouble ahead for our vulnerable little hero. And then it will get worse. Alex got a reality check. Luckily she has a gay brother who has gone through a struggle, himself. That might have helped her see the futility of being 'Mrs.' David. She will become a strong, though hurt, ally.
  13. Thanks, Lisa! Good memory about Donny! Whatever else David thinks, he has impeccable gaydar and seems to ping the gaydar of the other gay boys! Yes, Burch's nightmares and flashbacks will become plain, soon enough. And Donny will help with that breakthrough. There ARE a lot of 'C' names, aren't there. And there is a whole theme about 'C' names in Toph, too! I should probably mention that to my therapist.
  14. Yes, Jeremy is an asshole. Will is better off with Bobby.
  15. And a sterling year it was! If I got this much enjoyment from the Freshman year, I'll need to brace myself, somehow, for the next! Great story! Fantastic writing!
  16. I agree with Parker that this detente with Fran is more than fraught with danger. I'm not sure what Nathan will do. Even if he tells Robbie he believes the story, there will always be that nagging doubt that he will forever play second-fiddle to Fran. This will, of course, ruin any future relationship with Robbie. Or, he could not believe Robbie and push him away right now. In either case, his posing naked and his poisoning any Nathaffair will lead to Robbie maybe reaping what he has been so blindly sowing.

    Chapter 20

Oh, wow! Wes!! That literally changes everything! I wonder if his mom had anything to do with it, or maybe Sydney, or maybe Wes did some serious rethinking. Whichever, it will affect Dorian and probably the impact of the march, when Avery's brownshirts show up to bash the gay boys. (I so hope Darlene had the presence of mind to tip-off the national press, so they can witness Avery's homophobic campus in action.) A great tension-building chapter, Ron!
  18. What potions have I drunk of Siren tears, Distill'd from lymbecks foul as hell within, Applying fears to hopes, and hopes to fears, Still losing when I saw myself to win! What wretched errors hath my heart committed, Whilst it hath thought itself so blessed never! How have mine eyes out of their spheres been fitted In the distraction of this madding fever! O benefit of ill! now I find true That better is by evil still made better; And ruin'd love, when it is built anew, Grows fairer
  19. Thanks, Parker! You pretty much spelled out what we're looking at. Probably the only disappeared adult who could help him is Twoey's mom. Twoey and Tommy are the only ones who seem to read past David's masterful disguise, which even has the adults fooled. Could they help? Could they even move fast enough? David's spiral seems to be accelerating.
  20. Thanks, Def! Tommy can read his brother. But as you noted, he doesn't know what to do to help. He's only 13. On top of that he has visions of Barbara dancing in his brain. David is in trouble. He's going to explode. The only question is, after said explosion, will he be able to climb out? Will others come to his aid? Or will he be in a worse place? I'll tread carefully.
  21. Thanks, Parker! Yes. It seems David's pile of angst is growing exponentially. We know there will be consequences, and the head pains should be a warning. Of course, David is a master at keeping a false outward appearance, and so no one will see it coming, least of all the adults (who almost are) in his life.
  22. Thanks, Def! Yes, the story is a little disturbing through he next few chapters, but as you've noted, David is falling apart.
  23. Well, I didn't get online until evening, so I followed the rules.
  24. OMG! Thank you for that, AC!
