Benny's thinking is impaired. Are we sure he didn't get some brain damage from Yuri's father beating him up? He got his comeuppance from the very astute Dr. Pannar. However, the snake oil...er...venom cure all treatment sounds a bit too easy. I would suggest that Benny get a second opinion. I think a magical neurosurgery might be more successful if performed by a talented Shaman assisted by Bashta and Bob.

Fascinating conversation between Velaku and Benny. Velaku reveals his ulterior motive....another reason for wishing Benny to assume the Alpha position in a tiger clan. I'm sure this is one of the seeds being planted by Velaku. It's going to be interesting to see Velaku nudge Benny in that direction. The inspection of the marked tree revealed some information. A male cat who is horny for Yuri, and not Yuri's father. Could he be a scout for Yuri's father? Ellis' evaluation of Yuri is a hard blow to Benny. It is now wonder that Benny is on the edge. I fear he will go feral if the situation get much worse. To Benny this is like Yuri has died.

Velaku's involvement with the problem over time was already evidenced by the fact Yuri is placed in Velaku's clan. The one good thing about this chapter is the discovery that Yuri may be in danger, probably from his father. It is also and interesting addition to the plot that the tiger population as well as some others are suffering falling birthrates and major birth defects. I wonder when Dr. Pannar will be called to help.

Ellis and Benny have made a bit of an arc in their relationship. I am not surprised that Ellis wants to help Benny and Yuri. It's what Ellis loves to do. I was a bit tickled by Ellis' approach that sounded like a psychiatrist. I also wonder how Yuri will react to the adult, male human snake that Ellis has become.

Velaku's offer to make Benny the alpha of the tiger clan is his territory was unexpected. Benny would make an excellent alpha if he had Yuri at his side. At this point it seems a very long shot idea. The dreams Benny have of Yuri show a beautiful love and I appreciate new insights into Yuri's character. The depth of sadness at what happened is distressing. What happened to Yuri's father? Is he still alive and the alpha of the tigers? Just a side note here. After reading the comments, I know that there were other readers than myself who were hooked into this story long before the first word was written. 😊

This story is, you know, hypnotic and keeps you enthralled the entire time. The third novel in the Carthera Takeover Tales is my favorites. Ellis is human and Dav is a Carthera snake. One is a killer and the other a healer. Together they are faced with an evil out to destroy the order of their world. @Cia has created an alternative reality Earth fill with a variety of Carthera shifters, humans and magic. The plot is well written with plenty of twist, cliffhangers and even loop-de-loops. The characters are magnetically engaging. You will have empathy for their challenges and delight in their love. Great dangers face them, but great powers evolve from the dangers. This world and the societies in it are very unique. The first two novels in the series have been skillfully written to slowly create this unique world. I would recommend reading these first. You won't want to stop, so eventually you'll end up Hypnotized until the snap of the fingers at the end of this story. PS Cia has an awesomely wicked sense of humor. Enjoy!

I great happy ending. The medical report was well done and leaves some interesting avenues to pursue should you choose. I hints at the evolutionary divergence of humans with a chance of a future where the two species can remerge and evolve into something new. A very tantalizing idea. I only have one more story to complete all of the Carthera tales, but so far this is my favorite. Thanks Cia!

Forget my rant directed at Dav in the last chapter. Instead, I will rant now about the cruel Master of Mischief, @Cia! That wasn't just a bump on the coaster ride, it was a major loop-de-loop. Dav isn't the only one keeping secrets from someone he should tell. You did a marvelous job of springing a major twist in the plot and characters. I had not idea the whole scene in Velaku's home was staged. Ellis has yet one more talent displayed. His acting is worthy of an Oscar. Brad was played and is as much a victim as a bad guy and traitor. I do mourn Matthew. Too many innocents have already died, but Matthew's death is going to change Ellis and haunt him a long time. With all the frequent visits to Velaku and Natham's home, I think Dav and Ellis should stay there for the next few weeks. If these two guys don't cool their hormonal jets, the coaster ride will be more like a rocket trip to the moon!

Ellis' check up really didn't seem to determine anything. Finding Isiah at Velaku's place was also not surprising. The fight with Dav was inevitable. Ellis was 100% right in his arguments for being included in the information loop. Dev, in his stupid mode, was really irritating. His actions by letting Ellis return home, only proved Ellis' argument that Dav can't protect him 24/7. Dev should have used his human brain to include Ellis and not let Ellis return home alone. Since there is a traitor/mole in Dav's organization, I assume that who has cornered Ellis in Dav apartment. Big bump on the coaster ride. Keep them coming!

This is hysterical Page. That bird definitely knows how to dance. However, I couldn't tell if they dressed the parrot up in a tiny green coat, or it was actually the color of his wings. I had to look the black headed Caique up after the second view. No coat, it's all feathers.

While saving Bob's life, Ellis demonstrates his affinity to magic. He's a shaman! I wonder if Isiah also has this affinity. They both need the DNA tested, and start to look up the family genealogy. I think Ellis needs to talk to Bashta and maybe accompany Cavel and Bashta to the Temple. He may find more answers there even if he is not a jaguar. I suspect the god that is empowering Ellis is either a snake or an orca. It was a great touch for Bob to invite him into his clan, and the magic Ellis was transferring did originate from the members of Bob's clan. I think that Ellis needs to wear the amulet given to him by Bob. Ellis doesn't know when the power will be needed and come to him. He should be prepared at all times. The other big changes in Ellis are also intriguing. First, he doesn't seem to be overwhelmed by guilt when he killed Mishtar. The second change is his confidence and new aggressiveness in the bedroom. Very hot!

I read an article that said Australian birds are some of the smartest in the world. It also said some of these birds could problem solve and use tools at the same levels as some primates. The article had this anecdote to illustrate the point.

The tension built fast as the alpha's and their forces began to arrive at the safe house. I felt the fear that Ellis had and appreciated that he was locked away in the bathroom with the ladies. (That had to be one big bathroom.) The sounds of the battle were fierce, but the real excitement came when Mishtar was able to capture Ellis. Elalera’s attempt to kill Mishtar sadly ended in her death. I hoped, like others, that Ellis would used the knife to kill or at least disable Mishtar. The rage that overtook Ellis when faced with the knowledge Mishtar was going to kill Dav was unexpected. It was not what usually happens. It felt like Ellis' instincts took control of his body, and used the only weapon available that didn't require thought to use. Ellis' venom. I hope Mishtar's death will end this coup, but doubtlessly there will be much to clean up as they dismantle Mishtar's organization. I hope that Velaku's allies had few casualties and the wounded, like Bob, are healed.

@Grumpy Bear is not going to like that one of his bears was so stupid to ignore a no cell phone order at a time like this. I can understand Natham and Velaku's anger and violent reaction to Natham's brother and Isiah, but Dav and Ellis were able to at least get them to look at the proof. Not surprised either that Ellis had to leave the room. Mishtar is one f..ked up Falcon. He murdered a hell of a lot of good people in his quest for power. His foolish desire to take on the humans in battle is almost unbelievable. Relief filled me as the group has realised the danger and are now united to end this insanity. This is a well written build up of tension. I'm looking forward to an explosive battle that ends with Mishtar in tiny pieces and his organization totally destroyed.

@Cia you caught me by surprise with this chapter. Looking back I can see some of the clues you left, but I definitely was shocked that Mishtar is behind this. Of course, it could be a red herring thrown our way to throw us off track. What I do believe are Isiah and Ahsran are telling the truth. I am afraid for Matthew's life and hope that Mishtar's Falcons have not hurt him. Dav has finally proved himself to me after his huge mistake by almost killing Ellis. He has learned and regained my trust. He has returned to his position as the Yin to Ellis' Yang (Yin is black and Yang white). Dar is the formidable destroyer to Ellis' compassionate healer. Looking forward to the forces about to clash in an epic confrontation. This chapter had an exhilarating pace that left me breathless.

Dav is finally getting his big chance to prove himself. I hope he is up to the challenge and doesn't screw it up again. Ellis can't get a break. He doesn't even have time to get home and prepare Dav for the secret. The big problem is what is up with Matthew? He supposedly got the message to Isiah, but that doesn't seem to have happened. Now Matthew isn't home, but his car is. He isn't returning returning calls. Where is he? Is he in danger, or a mole for the enemy? A lot of question for Dav to be answer, but even more for them all to find out. This was a surprising twist to the plot. Nice way to ratchet up the tensions.
