    Harry

i'll have you know that i cried when i read the conversation with the two sets of parents like, real tears slipping out, not just that burning feeling of tears threatening Gus seems to be a great kid, very empathetic. of course, he can probably see himself, before he came out, in Harry and understands a little of what he's going through. it's nice peeking in on old friends isn't it? thanks for this little glimpse into the world of Camp Refuge
  5. i had to find time to actually read the article before i could do this it was eye opening to say the least. i truly had no idea that AMATEUR came from the root word for LOVE i'm so appreciative that you shared it. i've been really preoccupied lately and haven't been reading AEON when it shows up in my inbox this paragraph, especially, spoke to me: Practising invites a kind of intimacy, a moment of mindfulness that we can cut and paste into our daily routines. Once we appreciate that practice is not an endgame, our ego falls away and we enter the experience with complete commitment. Csikszentmihalyi talks about this state as an autotelic experience, the word deriving from the Greek autos, meaning self, and telos meaning goal. Our inner amateur is therefore self-directed. As Aristotle reminds us, amateur musicians define their own goals and their own enjoyment. you can bet that i'll be paying more attention to AEON when it shows up, and that i'll be making more time for my amateur pursuits i'm glad that the article spoke to you as well, and that you are writing again

    The Farm

i'm always happy to read for you! this was another really nice slice of life story and i'm always impressed with how much you are able to cram into your short stories, how real you can make the people in so few words i love how real the conversation feels between them and this part, made me laugh! “Something like that, yes. Also, because after seeing the place and talking to you about it. And after experiencing a similar loss with my parents, I decided to put an offer on your farm.” I sat back. I was suddenly angry. “What?” “Don’t be upset.” "What the fuck? Don't be upset?" I wanted to get up, but he hung onto my handGuys at nearby tables turned to stare. The Bear just ignored them and focused on me. “Listen to me, Connor. Stop reacting and listen.” I took a deep breath and stopped struggling. never, in the history of ever has anyone NOT been upset after being told to not be upset... lol! this was another really nice slice of life story, i really enjoyed it
  9. @rickproehl i'm sorry to hear that you are facing another challenge. hang in there, remember to breathe. talking to the nurse was a positive step, knowledge is power they say. know we're here if you need to let off steam, or just need a smile. @Mikiesboy & @Reader1810 i still have so much chia seed left, i'll look at hemp hearts next. it's cooler here today, more storms are forecast for this afternoon and the weekend. hope everyone has a good rest of your day.
  10. @MichaelS36 @Mikiesboy @spyke @Reader1810 @Kitt @kbois He thanks you for the good wishes. It was a long group interview and it wasn't at all what he anticipated. The position was "appointment setter" Turns out it was door to door canvassing, and he would be expected to have one appointments set every two hours. Later, he got an email thanking him for going but that "the position was filled." So, it's back to the drawing board for him.
  11. hello Sirs & friends.... good thoughts appreciated for Number Two Son. He has a job interview this afternoon.
  12. oh that was fun! it blended well with tbe thumping of Thunder & the moodiness of Sounds of Silence
  13. @Reader1810 thank you 💙 these are both on my playlist. i just love that Sounds of Silence cover. Thunder makes me want to get up. maybe i'll skip to them now
  14. the almost daily rain, & lack of sun are beginning to affect my mood. we can't even really walk due to the storms & high humidity. what are some of the songs, artists, that you listen to to help?
  15. i hope everyone had a good day & has a peaceful night. see you tomorrow
  16. well dammit Phil sprayed the yard for mosquitoes today but about 45 minutes ago the heavens opened 🌩🌩🌧🌧 just needed a couple more hours of dry. now He'll have to spray again when the lawn dries out again. right now it looks like we could raise koi out there. ☔ hope everyone had a good day
  17. good afternoon friends busy day for me, groceries, laundry, cleaning & meal prep. but it's a holiday weekend so it doesn't ALL have to be done by bedtime. luckily for me there are three sporting events to watch while i work. hope your day is good
  18. i am so glad You and tim are ok being able to talk to and really hear a partner after emotions are more in check is key, i think i can relate to the apparent overreaction, Phil can get snarly when His blood sugar tanks, it happens much less often now that He has a continuous glucose monitor, but it does still happen
