Ummm… no. It is about 50% fruit and is served hot with custard. Definitely more cakey than bready. I agree with Terry, it’s like fruit cake but not as dense. In the old country, it often has a brandy sauce that is set alight. Too much of a fire hazard here
Back in the olden days, my grandmother used to make her own and boiled them for ages, the kitchen was hot and steamy. They tasted awesome but there was a serious cost for summer. Then someone invented the microwave now the puddings are all precooked and a quick zap heats them to perfection without turning the house into a sauna
