Well, the one I chose I have no idea who he is. I looked up '14 year old boy with brown hair' and this boy came up and said 'Brandon' to me. I color corrected the eyes to be Hazel but his eye color is originally Violet . . . Very rare. Only Elizabeth Taylor had that eye color from my reckoning. Comsie's idea for Brandon is Randy Shelly at 15. I will release a cover I made with his image in later books in this series. I find it somewhat disturbing that Comsie also has Randy as his idea for 'Michael' in Gone From Daylight. Those that read that story know of whom I'm talking about.

Hang in there. Things change. They always do.

I find Comsie's character Jimmy LaPlane a haunting figure. A representative of all those little guys out there that get bullied, but are, in there own way, bullies in themselves only more subtle. The obsessives, stalkers, and manipulators that want to make you the solution to their problems. At the same time your heart breaks for that lost and broken boy who just can't seem to catch a break. Perhaps he would not be so needy if he had been given the blessed love he needed. Instead the rolling drums of his broken heart bleed. In his honor I came up with this musical tribute to him. It is a setlist of songs that I think tells the story of his heart. I hope Comsie and the rest of you guys enjoy it. This is ~~~~~

I've lost five and each one was special in their individual ways. I believe we will be with them again in a place where there is no death beyond the rainbow bridge.

At the retreat this weekend I was given a small book of gay love poems throughout history from Sappho onward. It's a little volume but has SO many amazing poems in it! For instance, Virgil was speaking to me through one like he was reading the story I'm writing over my shoulder and helping me capture that ancient flavor of desperate love two men can have for one another. The love interest in the poem is a young man named Alexis! http://www.blackcatpoems.com/v/alexis.html I'm also reading Maurice by E.M. Forster who I consider our Great-Grandfather of gay literature on this site. The themes, angsts, heartbreaks, and fulfillments that we all write and read about here can be found in that short little 'forbidden' story. I encourage anyone who has not read Maurice to do so. It's one of those stories that stick with you. I'm purposefully rereading this story because it informs a work I'm doing called Souvenir set in the same timeframe. You and I are twinsies! Over The Edge was one of my favorite movies and it so perfectly reflected being a kid back in them thar days. Is it any wonder we turned into The Grunge Generation.

Recently I enjoyed 'Armand' by Anne Rice. I also love 'The Witching Hour' by her which is one of my all time favorites. Currently I'm enjoying 'Maurice' again by E.M. Forster. It reads like a number of things I read on here except it was written at the turn of the last century. It had to be published posthumously because he figured it was something that was completely unpublishable and possible punishable instead. Its funny, times change but our experiences as Gay men and women don't necessarily. I encourage anyone who has not read 'Maurice' to do so.

It's sometimes hard to describe the sensation of an orgasm, intense one's in particular. I remember the ones I used to have as a teen being particularly potent. I tried to identify the sensations and what they were exactly. The term that always came to me was 'surgery hot'. Basically, a sweet hot shiver that just expands out across your whole body in waves. It's like having hot sugar syrup spreading out through your veins. Like I said, those orgasms that I had in those days were really . . . Um, WOW sometimes.

I researched Comsie's brief descriptions of Billy and refered to the artwork he commissioned and Billy's eyes are indeed brown. I always envisioned them as blue too when I was first reading his story. The photo he uses is from an actor he likes for the Billy part who has blue eyes. The actor's name is Miles Heizer particularly the part he played in the movie 'Rails and Ties'. Comsie may have changed the eye color in his Amazon release, but here in this narrative they are brown. See, Jimmy wasn't the only one pining away for silly old Billy. Billy never knew how loved he was.

Well, do keep on going. Love comes quickly, whatever you do, you can't stop falling. Sooner or later it happens to everyone. In some ways you have found Brandon. Brandon is me. What I write here is semi-biographical. When I read The Secret Life of Billy Chase, Comsie somehow managed to pull from me memories of that boy in the library that I used to be. Alas, I never found my Billy. I am what Brandon would have become if Billy had never been. In some ways, Billy Chase puts a window on the life I might have had if things had been different for me. 'JOEseph' was a real boy in my life, for instance. So, that's why I felt compelled to write this response to Billy Chase. If anyone could speak with Brandon's voice, it would have had to be me.
