    Morning After

Glad you liked this one, too. Rhubarb wine! Possibly the intellect served it at the request of the soul...it probably packs a wallop! But I get it goes down so smooooothly. Thanks so much for responding and reflecting on this one.

    Morning After

I am glad you liked this one Gary. So often, writing a poem feels like three parts of oneself sitting down and conversing (just shooting the breeze) about subject. But the soul often speaks in the deepest, most memorable registry doesn't it? Thank you so much for your generous words...cheers in return...

    Morning After

Thanks for seeing so deeply into this set of haiku pearls. I cannot attempt theology, but I tried to explain what happens when a subject or phrase comes to mind. Better than tryingm to make it into a three dimensional mathematics problem...I really appreciate your comments!

The company and the combination are heady; but do be careful about the hangover the next morning! Thanks for reflecting on this one...

    Morning After

The analogies just keep coming, don't they? Thanks!
  6. Poetry is a conversation held between brain, heart and spirit; intellect will serve effervescent wine; wit, words; the heart likes deep red barrel-aged longing; but beware the clear moonshine distilled by the soul.
  7. I am enormously happy you stuck with the story and enjoyed it. Your words almost kind, and encouraging. There is plenty if hope and joy in this tale, despite its terrible beginning; and now I feel it is up to us to look out for and care for the Stefans in our midst. It is wonderful, though, to imagine the story unfolding further. Again, my deep and heartfelt thanks.
  8. This speaks very insistently to me, Gary. There is so much to ponder, so much to explore, and at the same time, so much to cherish and recall. This aging soul salutes your curiosity and your urge to understand. Perhaps you can teach us something of navigation in this big wide world. A wonderful poem, Gary. -P

    Lyric #3.5

I am glad you liked this small gem. Like an ember, it still glows brightly. I have always liked this one, thank you for enjoying it, too.
  10. Eric hasn't really ever shopped anyplace else but thrift stores; I know what you mean about credit and its insidious creep, ever upwards. Eric may not have that worry, just yet, but he surely is learning about the need for things to last from Eustace. Thanks for your reviews and support! Your comments are appreciated, even if I have had to get to them late!
  11. Eustace is the first man to show Eric much in the way of real respect, and perhaps, compassion. This will stick, perhaps. Love your comment about Eric inhaling his food...and I imagine Eusatce knows something about that, too, though Eric wouldn't know it. And yes, Eric's ability to blend and try to be unnoticed has honed his skill at watching and seeing what others might miss.

    Work

He sees a great deal, and he seems to know how some things fit together naturally. Eric still expresses the terrible things he had internalized from the so called childhood in Carlsberg. He is only beginning to learn how false they are.
  13. Aaah, a Hoffnung Festival piece: concerto for Diesel Bus and Orchestra....in G Major, perhaps?
  14. C'mon Robbie, trust Sue. She might get all parental and prickly a bit, but basically, she'll be on your side. Better than having to fight Nicola all the time on your own. Just saying...

    Chapter 17 - Home

So deeply into each other, so hopelessly in love. It's lovely, but what's going to happen when the parents find out? And what's going to happen when life intervenes? I have the feeling you're going to show us soon...
  16. @ Northie...I am so very sorry. Can't think what the problem was...
  17. I am happy you liked these. Perhaps there is a physics to wishing on a shooting star, but for the moment, it's better just to believe. Thanks for the response.
  18. After some searching, I think this might do. Sorry for the delay... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7tw13izEYcg
  19. I am glad you liked Meteor, it was my pick of this pair, too. Jiminy Cricket sang in the back of my head, distracting me as I wrote. But I sat in airplanes a lot this summer, and got to thinking about how the magic of flight is supposed to work (the Bernoulli effect, I learned in school). I hope your mind recovered.....many thanks for your response,
  20. Meteor That Perseid, a meteor, so blazed the sky at Baltimore, it caused a thousand hearts to sigh with wishes made, a million score. We look northeast and watch the sky; the Earth meets flotsam drifting by, which, captured by the atmosphere, will spend themselves in flame and die. No stars are shot, the skeptics sneer, despite our superstition dear; no hopeful thought on burning rock will alter physics, so I fear. Yet scientific rules I mock in wanting Newton's laws to block by asking P

    Chapter 21

A beautiful chapter, and the sleep clouded conversation with Pierre was a terrific device. Maybe it will hep Corey begin to let go, and trust in what he and Jason have. What you have done over arc of the story so far is reveal a transformation, a reversal of sorts - Jason has become stronger and happier, and Corey is far more hurt and in need of love than anyone realized. Two revealing and significant quotes...Pierre: "I got over you a long time ago." And Jason: "I'm not going anywhere." Thanks for the chapter!
  22. Oh, Zane, you make my heart ache for you. A date with Clint is a date with his family. And a family is what you need, no? Cynus, this is an engaging initial chapter. I am hooked.
  23. Durufle was one of the most haunting composers in the early part of the twentieth century. His setting of the Lord's Prayer is without peer.
  24. I don't do emoticons (much) I prefer italics; but would give you great hugs, yet not damage your vertebrae. Insert smiles here....
  25. So now the malaise is described, and the hunt for its source must begin. What could it be? Dozens of possibilities occur to mind. But for the moment, there is a sweetness and rightness to Tobyn and Kellar's interaction, and your final scene underlines this. Thanks also for the useful background information, conveyed easily and without lecturing.
