You did a deft job with Ally in this chapter; she wasn't at all happy, but she's self absorbed enough to move on soon. Her observation that Jackson has made room for Luke is telling though...the buzz will be that Jackson is becoming a church kid, not that he's gay. The former tag is far worse than the latter, perhaps. Not that Jackson has time to think about that. No, all he has time for to worry about swimming. For now. Big, big kudos on this chapter!

They say love (or infatuation) makes fools of us all, or so I have read. You saw the torturous tug between yearning and fear of rejection; and perhaps the later delight of having made a fool out of one's own former shy self. You, my friend, are the master of colors. If it can be blue and beautiful, then so be it. Most important is that you enjoyed it, even if it is kind of wistful and reflective. But do see Gary's comments, above, for they also re fleet my own intentions. Thanks so much for your thoughts and responses!

Thanks for such really generous and thoughtful remarks. You are a great help to those of us getting over the hurdles of poetry; thanks for the helping hand. Perhaps this a melancholic form, or maybe I am in a pensive mood these days. But it is so satisfying to crack into these, in a way.

I second Spikeys comments, and add that Ally will probably get tired of Jackson before Jackson figures out how to do the right thing. In the meantime, I love how you have written and Luke and Jackson into a pair, even as they figure out what that might mean, or how it should happen. You are a master of dry, subtle, steady development. Jackson's emotional response to the bad news is only to be expected. How Luke can help is a mystery to me, too. Wonderful chapter! More soon, please?

Am awaiting next chapter. Tommy's actions are both heroic and believably adolescent. Adults' behavior defies belief. Twoey, it's time to bust the doors down; now or never. One way or another David's nosedive seems destined to end soon. -
Wow. Heat in the locker room after tryouts. Glad they weren't caught; they don't need that right now. Nick had better make the team, or Peter is going to be badly distracted!

Robbie is now left to twist slowly in the wind, wondering who Nathan's new boyfriend could be. Robbie? Nah, too easy. Besides, Robbie had been pretty obviously unreliable. But there is more in this chapter that attracts...Robbie actually being pleasant around the family, for example. Nicola remains a problem to be solved, and perhaps Robbie ought to apply himself to that one first. Coming out would be easier if she were conciliated. Great chapter.

I thought this chapter was lovely, part of a continuing exhibition of Toph at peace. I could revisit such a gallery every day. Toph's declaration and Gary's response only confirmed this. But then something in the light changed, and the pictures have turned darker. Why does Toph fear his mother so very much? Surely the power she possesses had attenuated since Toph fell in love with Gary. But perhaps Toph does not yet recognize this, or maybe there is something you will reveal to us soon. In any case, you have given us a remarkable chapter.

Part of the fun of serialism is its geometry. I actually use 12-tone principles to illustrate geometry and graphing concepts in math classes. Inversion and retrograde are just reflections around an axis, after all...

I feel my heart wrenched and wrung for you. You cry out, you explain, and you help us to see. And perhaps there is a ray of hope. You write this movingly and genuinely. The second stanza is sharp, one can taste the crackle of electricity in it; the last line is exquisite. Thank you for sharing it.
