    Work

He sees a great deal, and he seems to know how some things fit together naturally. Eric still expresses the terrible things he had internalized from the so called childhood in Carlsberg. He is only beginning to learn how false they are.
  2. Aaah, a Hoffnung Festival piece: concerto for Diesel Bus and Orchestra....in G Major, perhaps?
  3. C'mon Robbie, trust Sue. She might get all parental and prickly a bit, but basically, she'll be on your side. Better than having to fight Nicola all the time on your own. Just saying...

    Chapter 17 - Home

So deeply into each other, so hopelessly in love. It's lovely, but what's going to happen when the parents find out? And what's going to happen when life intervenes? I have the feeling you're going to show us soon...
  5. @ Northie...I am so very sorry. Can't think what the problem was...
  6. I am happy you liked these. Perhaps there is a physics to wishing on a shooting star, but for the moment, it's better just to believe. Thanks for the response.
  7. After some searching, I think this might do. Sorry for the delay... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7tw13izEYcg
  8. I am glad you liked Meteor, it was my pick of this pair, too. Jiminy Cricket sang in the back of my head, distracting me as I wrote. But I sat in airplanes a lot this summer, and got to thinking about how the magic of flight is supposed to work (the Bernoulli effect, I learned in school). I hope your mind recovered.....many thanks for your response,
  9. Meteor That Perseid, a meteor, so blazed the sky at Baltimore, it caused a thousand hearts to sigh with wishes made, a million score. We look northeast and watch the sky; the Earth meets flotsam drifting by, which, captured by the atmosphere, will spend themselves in flame and die. No stars are shot, the skeptics sneer, despite our superstition dear; no hopeful thought on burning rock will alter physics, so I fear. Yet scientific rules I mock in wanting Newton's laws to block by asking P

    Chapter 21

A beautiful chapter, and the sleep clouded conversation with Pierre was a terrific device. Maybe it will hep Corey begin to let go, and trust in what he and Jason have. What you have done over arc of the story so far is reveal a transformation, a reversal of sorts - Jason has become stronger and happier, and Corey is far more hurt and in need of love than anyone realized. Two revealing and significant quotes...Pierre: "I got over you a long time ago." And Jason: "I'm not going anywhere." Thanks for the chapter!
  11. Oh, Zane, you make my heart ache for you. A date with Clint is a date with his family. And a family is what you need, no? Cynus, this is an engaging initial chapter. I am hooked.
  12. Durufle was one of the most haunting composers in the early part of the twentieth century. His setting of the Lord's Prayer is without peer.
  13. I don't do emoticons (much) I prefer italics; but would give you great hugs, yet not damage your vertebrae. Insert smiles here....
  14. So now the malaise is described, and the hunt for its source must begin. What could it be? Dozens of possibilities occur to mind. But for the moment, there is a sweetness and rightness to Tobyn and Kellar's interaction, and your final scene underlines this. Thanks also for the useful background information, conveyed easily and without lecturing.
  15. Tobyn's confusion is a good theme for this chapter. In his place, I'd be both intrigued by and petrified of so powerful a man as Kellar. He must know Kellar won't hurt him, but that doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't be intimidated. Kellar seems so sure of himself, so completely at rest and serene in his own skin, whatever shape it takes. How could this be the scrawny foster child who once got bullied so easily?
  16. Only the third shifter he's met? Who were the other two? Oh, I know you'll tell us...or at least, I hope so. But you have deftly laid out some mysteries for us to ponder. But the most important one is whether Tobyn and Kellar will become friends.
  17. So Kellar leaves his final foster home with a quid pro quo...He won't destroy Warren, and Warren won't call in men with guns. That's not necessarily a good bargain. But he gains his freedom, and mobility. The howl of freedom at the end is absolutely priceless!
  18. There is no going back from this experience, and Kellar's shock at it must leave him viscerally uncertain of himself. What kind if psychological torque and torture could it cause? And how can Kellar fit it all into his life experience? You are doing a great job of trying to put us into Kellar's shoes. Or paws.
  19. This story took a turn from what I expected. Normally, I'm not a big fan of shifter/were creature stories, but so far, I am intrigued. Color me surprised and interested.
  20. Thank you Gary for reading about Tomas and Fletcher. It seemed important to describe why Tomas seemed so nervous, so shy about connecting with Fletcher. I was very nervous about posting this chapter. While I hoped its final sentences would outweigh the pain, I couldn't be sure that some readers would find the hurts described too hard to bear. I am glad your heart felt full and happy, as mine did. Tomas surely seems to have arrived at love, and Fletcher seems there, too. Let us hope this is a final destination, and not merely a place where they catch connecting flights to somewhere else.
  21. You originally suggested I get a journal or sketchbook some months ago. Taking your advice was one of my better moves. I am slowly filling up a repurposed notebook with false starts, beginnings and final copies of poems, many of which will never see the light of day. But you were absolutely right. And I think the day will come when someone may try to make sense out of my scrawl, and it will be a valued bit of what I leave behind. At least that is what I hope. You have hit the nail completely squarely on this one, Tim.

    Adieu

I read this with immense sadness. You write with power and truth, not play. Do not silence your voice, I beg you.

    Early June

How does one review a life developing into joy? How does one respond to the constant surprise of the beloved? How does one express the ongoing pleasure reading about a deepening and widening love? Thank you, Skinny, for this story.
  24. I love this story. You have spoken to me, as your voice often does. I read it swiftly, then again, savoring it. Both men can wonder if it is too late, but Eddie 'life half-empty,' is a perfect turn of phrase to make it worth the risk. Beautifully told.
  25. I am glad you enjoyed this enough to respond. Doing a fridge purge recently gave me some inspiration, as did a huge influx of garden produce. As the much youngest in my family, I was expected to be the universal food disposal unit long after my brothers left the scene. I envy you your sesame rolls, but perhaps you can smile upon my cheddar cheese and fresh-tomato bagels this morning.
