Chapter 46 Valentines
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Chapter 46 Valentines
I won't deny that Andy is a little miraculous in that his nature seems sweeter rather than bitter. Experiencing genuine love now seems to have brought out some of his own. Glad you caught that one moment of assertion. Many thanks for your very kind remarks and your insight. When I ever get a cell phone of my own, I shall certainly send that text. -
Chapter 46 Valentines
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Chapter 46 Valentines
What emerged in this chapter is a sweeter natured, generous Andy. He's finally getting out from under the ghastly burden he's had to carry for years, and perhaps he's grateful for it. Dr. O'Shea certainly helped Andy let some of his guard down - at least better than the medical doctor did. Of course, there's more for Andy to unpack, but for now, not all the kisses have to be in Zander's bed. Thanks for staying with the journal, and for your perceptive review. -
It was your day? I didn't know. I guess that makes me clueless, though. I hope 'twas filled, for goodness' sake, with joy, and love and chocolate cake. Happy Birthday...far too late.

Chapter 46 Valentines
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Chapter 46 Valentines
Andy can finally show appreciation - and love, perhaps - safely. This is a big change. He is discovering that he can do this, though he might find it hard to be articulate. What he knows is that he loves Zander. And yes, Zander is going to have smiles for a long while. The chores incident is part of the discovery the Stevensons will go through as they get to know Andy. Dr. O'Shea was certainly much less threatening to Andy than the medical doctor. While he was kind and not unsympathetic, his work was far too close to Andy's pain not to send him spinning. I blush at your kind words; it was very good to write about Andy discovering himself a little. That you look forward to reading more of Andy's story makes me very happy. -
Enjoyed the first chapter. We got a good introduction to Cory, and maybe understand his character more, even as that character steered us into the pretty heated conclusion. This is a story I'll come back to.

Chapter 46 Valentines
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Chapter 46 Valentines
The priest did mention miracles not too long ago. I think you have hit on another one of them, though Andy may not recognize it. All he can see is that he has people he can love, and who love him back - Zander, especially. Dr. O'Shea is an interesting character. The medical doctor was efficient, businesslike, not unsympathetic - but utterly unable to reassure Andy. She appears to be different. Thank you for a perceptive review and for continuing to read Andy's journal. -

So very happy this chapter made you smile. After all the darkness and fear in his life, Andy has been slowly discovering light and hope. That sense of responsibility was beaten into him over many years; it's not surprising that it came back again. Thanks so much for your review! -

I am happy that this chapter warmed you up on a January morning. He is discovering how different life can be - and how differently he can live, too - when survival isn't the first item on his agenda. Thank you for reading and letting me know your thoughts. -

Imagining Zander getting into his bed full of kisses was a wonderful writing moment. Dr. O'Shea looks like someone who will help Andy confront some of his past. This chapter let Andy be more of the 'himself' we'd like to see. Thanks for your review and thoughtful response. -
February 14 – Valentine’s Day Today was Valentine’s Day – I’d forgotten all about it. It’s the day you show your boyfriend (or girlfriend, I suppose) how much you care. A card is supposed to be standard. What did my boyfriend do? Instead of a card, Zander went with me to the lab so I wouldn’t freak out during the blood test. Zander’s mom let him drive me to the lab this morning, early – way early. The lab was super quiet at that hour, and I got into the lab right away. Zander insisted on com

Week Eight Wednesday, October 22, 2014: Getting Dumped
Parker Owens commented on skinnydragon's story chapter in Week Eight Wednesday, October 22, 2014: Getting Dumped
How can I be first? An eventful chapter, with so much getting ready to happen, too. David gets dumped, and has to conciliate the brother about it. Erik insinuates himself into the Twoey-David mix, and that could turn out to be explosive. And David working himself into a state over his mother. I can't imagine she'd send him away, or that his father would stand for it. That would be a terrible thing, but I can't see it happening. But I can see other sinister possibilities...ugh. Poor David. He needs some Twoey, and fast. -
Whew. It will be hard keeping it all straight (no pun intended) when everything goes down. And it does seem like it's going to, doesn't it?

Robbie is on a wild kind of adventure, and he'd better not get hurt. I'm afraid he's going to take one misstep, and the pain will last a very, very long time...

Chapter 26 The Easter Weekend Part 2

Robbie gets a sigh of relief at performing, but was it all that much fun? I think so, but the ambivalence...you drew that out well. -
Chapter 25 The Easter Weekend Part 1

There must be something about Nathan to get Robbie to loosen up and talk freely like that with him. Nathan's the attraction, and Robbie's is so much trouble already. But there are ways to get in deeper, I suppose... -
I got hooked early on by the dialog, then by the possibilities of a developing story. This could be a lovely adventure.

You have such a wonderful imagination. Andy's future is only beginning to open up to him, and he will surely have many choices . However, he must believe in himself and in the new world he finds himself in before any of that can happen. The one important thing in his life is Zander; it is what holds him fast. As for his future (or future books), I haven't really thought of that yet...

Thank you for your comments and thoughtful response. Andy has gone through hell, and there is plenty of emotional baggage for him to lug around, or unpack if he feels he can do that. With Zander at least, he feels safe enough to let some of it go. That Zander has stood firm and not backed away is to his credit; some kids would be completely unable to deal with Andy's pain, and would back off, or worse, run away from it. I appreciate your reading the text so deeply and for being so involved in the story.

I really liked this chapter. So much for Toph to be taking in, and so much interior growth. The work from his brush is clearly the most important thing he does. Now he can make his own friends; hope the date with Steve doesn't destroy other friendships. You write clearly and vividly in this chapter, and without affectation. Excellent work!

Chapter 45 Flashbacks
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Chapter 45 Flashbacks
Andy made it through his exam, and he was fortunate that Zander helped him pick up the pieces afterwards. The space you speak of is a place where so many people - victims - have to live. With love and support and patience, they can move to a better place. And yes, Andy is strong, though he probably wouldn't agree if you told him so. Glad you liked how Andy and Zander came out as boyfriends to Terry and Kaz. At least she can stop playing matchmaker to Andy! Thanks for your kind words and for reading Andy's journal. -
Chapter 45 Flashbacks

Andy clearly has a lot to work through. Your confidence that he'll 'get there' is the kind of hope he needs, and it will spring directly from the love he is receiving from Zander and his family. Love can heal a lot. Thanks for your perspective and for your reviews, which mean so much to me. -
Chapter 45 Flashbacks
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Chapter 45 Flashbacks
Everything you say in your first paragraph is quite true. Andy will have to say something at some point to Mr. Stevenson, though he may have already shown him the journal. Just as insightful is your second paragraph. Andy has shown Zander and his parents something of who he is, but hardly everything. The stormclouds on Andy's horizon are always threatening to move in and burst over his head. Thanks so much for your review and for your patience as I catch up with everyone's comments!
