Illusions of Love and The Trickster
Parker Owens commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in Illusions of Love and The Trickster
You write very powerfully in each of these. Trickster speaks very much to me, and you should know you are not alone in what this poem make one feel. And yet, I surely hope that we are more than what the poem suggests, for that we are means we may be genuine. Illusions plays on our fears, the ones we listen to when the Trickster is talking to us. I wait on the hope that is surely there, waiting for me at the end of every smile, or hug, or encouraging word. The sure hope that the nasty little voice is too full of malice to be right. Thank you to speaking these for us. -
So many, many unanswered questions. Andy dragged himself around for several weeks, trying to put himself back together. It didn't look too good, and he was still hurt and pretty miserable. For now, we'll have to wonder how Andy wound up in the hay. He's not an alpaca, that's certain. Thanks for you review, and for your continued reading of the story.

Augh. You're the third to call be cruel. Now I shall have to beg your pardons, all. I'm glad you felt the 'wow;' it's exactly how I felt after putting in the last period. Also glad your suspicions were confirmed, though a bit chagrined that the story was that transparent. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing...I really appreciate it.

I'm sorry all you were going to write got tossed aside. I should like to see it, someday. Andy was at least dragging himself out of his hole and trying to make a recovery of sorts. Then winter happened.

Oh dear. I didn't mean to be cruel. I'm glad this chapter was a 'wow' for you. The experience with Roger Green Hat really hurt Andy, and he's clearly trying to drag himself out of his hole, bit by bit. But winter finally arrived with a vengeance. Thank you for reading and for your review.

Holy shit. That was your father? No wonder you never talked about him. No wonder you never told anyone where you lived. But after he took you away, we all felt kind of sick. In school, we all looked for you, but you weren't there. When you reappeared, you were different. You looked like hell, and you didn't talk, not to anyone. You avoided me, us, everybody. You pushed us away. Terry, of all people, said we shouldn't talk about it, and she kept her promise. None of us heard any gossip about you

An Astounding Evening
Parker Owens commented on ColumbusGuy's story chapter in An Astounding Evening
Your chapters continue to make me smile. Thanks for this one! -
This is a splendid beginning. Reflective without too much bitterness, given the nature of Toph's relationship to his world. What a goodbye to Austin. Not all of us were so lucky as we left high school as to have that kind of farewell. The new roommates appear to be full of potential for adventure, perhaps - in any case, they're new people, which may be exactly what Toph feels he needs. What a pity this story will post only slowly! Many thanks for sharing this with us all.

Andy is ashamed, scared, and bitter over what happened. He's lost so much more than money. He didn't lose his whole stash, after all, just his day's wages. Really, he's feeling he lost his friends and a source of hope. The good thing is he's resilient. We know that. The bad news is. It looks like he's starting over. Again. More coming today...thank you for this review, and for reading Andy's story so far.

You are correct in that Andy lost only his earnings for the weekend. Insulting enough, I suppose. Thank you for bringing up that confusion. I hope you are enjoying the story so far. I thank you for continuing to read, and for your review.

Week Seven Tuesday, October 14, 2014: Confidence
Parker Owens commented on skinnydragon's story chapter in Week Seven Tuesday, October 14, 2014: Confidence
Agree with JB's short and some of CG's extended comments. Great chapter, David is disappointing, though some positives are happening to him. Don't know if Dr. Keating will be of any use at all. A lot of that will depend on David's interaction with him, and whether he decides to trust him. David is so very wrapped up in being "normal" that he doesn't see how non-normal he is becoming. And while his relationship with his mother is dysfunctional, that's not why it's happening. Even Gary notices, and kissing Kathy just doubles down on an increasingly unlikely bet that David will be able to recapture his vision of normality. But try telling him that. Please tell me that there will be more very soon! -
Poor Andy is in shock right now. He's lost so much. He's reeling and feeling terrible about himself. Whatever relationship he had with Zander, Kaz and Terry, it's going to be different. From Andy's viewpoint, he may experience shame and anger - not a good recipe for friendship. The questions will have to wait, I think. Thank you so much for reading and for leaving your comments. They are much appreciated.

Chapter 34: Keeping Up
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Chapter 34: Keeping Up
Well, they were expecting he might show, at any rate. Poor Andy just has no clue about this kind of school social etiquette. What's good is that Terry and Kaz and Zander are all pretty kind to him that way. I enjoyed writing this chapter, even though it didn't seem like too much was going on. Thanks for reading and for leaving your comments. -
Poetry Prompt 16 The Toy Makers Carol
Parker Owens commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in Poetry Prompt 16 The Toy Makers Carol
All those elves, toiling away! I can hear the busy-ness and see them hammering away. Though nowadays, they're probably pretty good at injection molding machines and 3-D CAD design, too. Great Carol! -
Chapter 22 The Guessing Game
Parker Owens commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 22 The Guessing Game
I'll just second SD's remarks - a great chapter, and with Alex in the picture, poor old Robbie's about to get into a seriously confusing whirl. But if Alex is all straight-seeming, maybe they both have the same motivation to keep their desires hidden. Good luck with that! -
From his friends' perspective, the man they saw was Andy's dad. A loud, oafish drunk, but still his father. I doubt any of them have been confronted with such a situation, and were paralyzed both by its novelty and the understanding that this is Andy's only kin. Maybe Andy will be mad about it sometime, but right now he's probably getting over the shock of losing so much of what he had. and his friends know something isn't right, but what will they do? Like so many of us, they may just wait and see what develops. Many thanks for your review and for reading thus far!

Green Hat had poor Andy's windpipe in a lock, so the chance to tell everyone the real story passed. The real problem now becomes what to do now that the real shock has passed. Andy must feel intense shame at what happened, and probably suspects that nobody will want anything to do with him. No more Kaz and Terry; no more Zander. But winter is closing in, so running may be a very bad option, too. Thanks for reading this painful episode, and for your review!

G A's Newest Promising Author: Headstall
Parker Owens commented on Renee Stevens's blog entry in Gay Authors Archive
Congratulations on recognition well earned, and well deserved. I am so very happy for you. Take several bows! -
Andy has lost so much as a result of this attack, that it's hard to count the cost. Kaz and Terry and Zander probably have no idea what to do or how to react. They may be worried, but maybe also feel lucky not to have had to deal with Andy's drunken father. Ironically, I had meant to post this later in the he week, but then realized I'd be too busy. The next chapter will have to wait a few days.
-
Andy has no desire to explain anything to anyone right now, I think. Roger is lucky to be alive, though he may not realize it. Who knows? At least Andy still has his summer money stashed away, but he lost everything he's earned that day. Thanks for the review. Time for everyone to lick his/her wounds...
-
It left me a little speechless, too.
-
What is there to do? Andy has been robbed not so much of his work money as of his confidence, his self worth, and (as he sees it) his friendships. So much for Kaz and Terry; so much for Zander. At the very best, he's covered in shame again, and quite possibly (if Terry talks as she does) to the advertisement of the whole school. But running means dealing with the cold, and that's getting to be all to real a problem. Not sure he can hang out in school without being noticed by someone if he doesn't go to classes. Thanks for your review and for reading.

November 21 It was all too good to last. Knew it would happen sometime. Feel shaky and shitty, and scared. Don't want to think about it. (***) A little better now, if that means I can sit up, think straight, and stop shaking. I’ve been waiting for the whole, great, wonderful adventure to collapse in a heap of dust, and that’s exactly what happened this weekend. The worst thing is that it wasn’t anything I did. Well, nothing that I did since getting to Blackburn. Everything was going great
