  1. Spend lots of time in Thailand and loitering around Bondi Scream from the top of a cliff/hill Win a sunday surf-swim race fair and square! Learn 2-3 more languages. Fall in love with someone (*crosses fingers* doctor) who can live and work in Australia. Build a successful psychology clinic and be published. Marry the person I fell in love with before. Have cute, open-minded, articulate, unprejudiced, healthy, down-to-earth kids (2 or 3). Have a cool midlife crisis not involving drugs, alcohol, mental health problems or affairs. Be one of those ultra-healthy, over-exercising, leather-skinned old women that run around Bondi.
  2. Nup, cos Graeme sees the opposite direction to me... And I've always wondered- y does that water thing happen? Is it something to do with magnetic poles? I don't know why it would be but that's what i imagine...
  3. Nup, its real. You probably just managed to change your perspective around frame 25. I made my sister watch it with me and I made myself see the dancer turning CW but she was still seeing CCW at the same time...
  4. For ages i could only see anti-clockwise and then it kept switching back and fourth which makes me suspicious that the image just switches every so often.... I will investigate.
  5. Ye, why doesn't Australia count? That sucks. Israel is smaller than tasmania and Aus is deemed insignificant?... Australia is freakin' huge. Just cos we're down-under doesn't mean we suck (O hell, I really didn't intend for that to be a pun but now that its there I can't bring myself to delete it.)
  6. Okay i have an incredibly far-fetched theory. You know how some people say "there are so many more gay people these days... blah blah blah" and you automatically think "No, it's probably the same number but they aren't forced to deny their feelings anymore (except in conservative situations)"? Well the whole suppression thing used to be the same with left-handers (hell, even i was forced to be right-handed and I'm a 90s kid). The more liberal environments probably allow/ed left-handers to use their left hand and gay people to be open about themselves. Meanwhile the conservative environment would force right-handedness and heterosexuality. :. a higher ratio of gay, left-handed people (Yes, I am aware that the likely hood of that effecting statistics is very low....) I dunno about all the other stuff but they say when the ring finger is longer than the index that it indicates a higher level of testosterone in the womb at a time that corresponds with (controversially) (gay) 'sexual orientation development', which means that no, you haven't been deluding yourself.
  7. I always think about that. There are boundaries to free speech when hatred is incited. If a school teacher made even a slightly discriminatory remark about, say females, GLBT or religion they would be reprimanded immediately. A religious leader is a lot like a teacher in the sense that they are sources of information and reasoning and are in a position of power and authority. Any indoctrinating abuse of a position of authority usually has consequences but it doesn't seem so in the religious world. It's as though a negation of someone's rights is automatically passed off as acceptable as soon as a religious book is pointed to with reference to freedom of speech causing the threat of an accusation of religious-prejudice to appear on the horizon.
  8. Yay! the new chapter is out. AND it is, yet again, another amazing chapter! NOTE: Just found the amazing bundle of CJ's stories... I may just start lurking in this forum as well...

  11. I also intend to spend the rest of my life in Australia. After traveling around the world quite a bit I still love Australia the most. Its so perfect, beautiful, relaxed and friendly. I only really noticed it once my boyfriend went back to south america but I have to agree that the physical isolation is really really bad.

  17. I like Justin's vampire-mimic magic from 'Gone from Daylight' (Comicality) I like the concept of mastering one's own magic and then the magic of others through mental pull and emotion.

    Blah...

I undestand how you feel. I just had to get my german shepard put down last week. I only had him for 4 years but for the past two years i had spent half my time with him and slept next to him in the basement when his multiple joint, hip, ear, and bone problems were causing him so much pain he was howling.... Stupid pedigree inbreeding.... Remember that things always get better. Some things get worse while others get better... but theres always something getting better

    *sigh*

Joe, I think it bears pointing out that what you write drunk has fewer errors than what many of use write while sober! One point on the text messages though: I'm not familier with texting, I've never used it, but I do recall receiving a complaint from someone that I'd never answered her text message. As far as I know, my phone didn't have the capability to send one or receive one. So, is it possible that he never received it? What if his phone was off or he wasn't in an area that would allow reception? (I have no clue how text messages actually work, just speculating based on the complaint I received.) But, congrats at having the guts to ask him, way to go! I hope it works out for you.. If this is so you dont wont him as a boyfriend because what kind of teenager (i added teenager for tactfulness) can't sms. Its social suicide. Do you want a socially suicidal associate? I assume not.
  21. I don't believe they'll be able to alter someone's sexual orientation after they are born so I guess the only debate left is whether to prevent homosexuality in an unborn child. Personally, I never would take those measures.... Why find problems with a kid before its even taken its first breathe? AND its not even a problem. Society just percieves it to be and that'll wear of eventually anyway. Come to Autralia instead... sure we bann gay marriage, adoption by same sex parents etc. but HEY! An aussie gov is also waayyyy too science-phobic to allow any type of medication that will interfere with well.... anything really. Sleeping pills are prescription only and there is even a debate about how evil they are now.

    I

I have to disagree. Sexual orientation IS a major part of a person whether they are gay, straight, bi etc. It is not however, a definitive explanation for someone's personality or existance as a whole but the fact still remains that alot of what we do as people, as sexual beings, in life, is driven by our sexual orientation. On the other hand I don't think its necessary to constantly inform others of sexual orientation unless its truly relevant. It has became a social norm to constantly clarify sexual orientation and often being friends with gay people, defending gay rights or reading gay fiction, as a straight person, causes others to question your sexuality unless you clarify, which I personally don't so people assume i'm a lesbian. One of my awkward gay friends said that to me today! Ha! (minus the 'mary' part of course) So maybe society WILL reverse- "Don't look! Its disgusting! A GUY is holding hands with a GIRL! And in PUBLIC!" But, ya know, I'm not gay.
  23. Loved the story... but it was really surreal and now i'm all freaked out cos its midnight and i don't want to walk upstairs in the dark by myself
  24. See, but i also do that I just think maybe its a karma thing. If you buy a pen you'll loose it but if its not really yours it'll hang around for a while.
