Chapters 1-7 are actually combined chapters (originally down from 14), I used "parts" to preserve the original names. Preston wasn't really supposed to last beyond his role in this chapter, but I loved writing in his voice too much.

It's strange how they just -work- as a pairing. Not even I know if they'll be a romantic couple, but Preston and Indie complement each other quite well.

Abusers have quite a few tools in their arsenal - chipping away at your confidence until you feel too small and powerless to escape just happens to be one of them. One of the reasons victims don't leave is that they don't think they have the strength to do so. Jameson happens to be very good at the things he does.

I really loved that. And I am glad that they understand thier own inclinations enough to have established a "safe word". From the chapter warning, I genuinely feared Wolfie would go too far. I would hate to see either of them hurt by something as avoidable as "bedroom" miscommunication. Indie, even with the outward evidence of blue hair and piercings, I did not guess his insecurities ran so deeply. And when attack twink calls him a friend ... lol ... not typical romance ... I hope Preston is good for Indie. I hope Indie can be good for Preston. If you write a sequel Dayne, the very unoriginal title "odd couple" may be worth considering ... Thanks for the great story and all the fish ... I considered making their stuff a spin-off story, but the guys are just too close. Perhaps, I should follow up with them as adults.

Narrative voice is your bliss. I like how being in Toph's head is different from being in David or Twoey's head. Even the brief bits of Matty have a distinctive feel. Like Toph's canvases, your tonal work teases out a full portrait in abstract.

As a Floridian living in Texas (did a few years in Tennessee and Georgia, too), I've had the argument from many different angles. IMO - if you can't get a decent buttermilk biscuit, and they don't look at you crazy when you order unsweet tea, it ain't the south. I've been itching to reveal Indie's deal with Jameson for AGES! But, obviously, he couldn't do so until he was in a safer place. It was an intense chapter to write.

Preston hadn't been in the cards for Indie when I started. However, it took all of a week in my head before Preston was like "I got this." Remember how Joel kept getting away from you? As for the choking - fair point. This is first relationship for both of them in which they completely trust their partner, so this is still pretty new to them.

I've heard a lot of really great things about your writing. Derrick is beyond adorable and Tanner is cheek-pinchingly cute. Class captures all the sweetness of first love so perfectly that I have an overwhelming urge to hug people.
