Provolone cheese is very mild, almost neutral in its flavor. It really just serves as a "binder" for the cream cheese and Nutella, but there's a nice hint of smoke that balances the sweetness.
True, marshmallow root has anti-inflammatory properties, but I've heard that eating candy marshmallows can also provide relief. Although candy marshmallows were originally made with mallow root, modern recipes no longer use it. Maybe something in the egg whites is responsible?
