  1. Hey, Xander, Dennis, Jordan, and Ash! *waves to the foster kids* Hey, Clo. Hey, Albert. Hey, Dugh, Mum, and Thistle. *scratches Thistle on his belly*
  2. How does one draw "nude" gingerbread? I've had 5 Guys. The food is good, but the one I went to wasn't very efficient. 45 minutes for a 3-person order isn't an acceptable waiting time.
  3. Sounds good, but we don't have one of those around here.
  4. Nope. The chili had ground buffalo chuck in it. X-rated gingerbread boys?
  5. I had buffalo chili for dinner.

    Star of Wonder

There should be a rule in the parenting handbook. If your child is born on or close to a major holiday, they should be allowed to pick another date on which to celebrate the occasion. I used ground buffalo chuck and sausage, with kidney and white beans. I also added a pinch of cumin and oregano. Mighty tasty.
  7. Hey, Bertie. How are you and Steve?

My favorite chapter so far. I was afraid it was going to end badly for Finn, but my fears were unfounded, it seems. And now I have an idea of what to make for dinner tonight.
  9. Jacob Tremblay recently changed his Instagram bio from "Part-time actor, full-time kid" to "Part-time actor, full-time awkward teenager." He's such a great character!
  10. About halfway through a spaghetti dinner my 3-year-old daughter asked what the green stuff on the pasta was. When I told her it was parsley, she threw up her hands and said, "Well, I've never had it before, and now. My life. Is ruined." ---Christine Horos, Buzzfeed.
  11. Doing well, thanks. I made several kinds of cookies today.
  12. Thanks, Cassie. How are you?
  13. My aorta is perfectly fine.
  14. I agree. The flavor of the meat is so superior.
  15. I admit, the frying oil is a good question, but no-one will ever accuse them of being healthy. We only eat there two or three times a month, when we're feeling too tired or lazy to cook.
  16. At the beginning, would be good.
  17. What do you have against McD's?
  18. Night, Marty. Glad the house is okay.
  19. Hey, Clo. Hey, Gary. Hey, Buckie. I made some Earl Grey tea, if you'd like a cup.
  20. Why not? It's cheap, tasty, and best of all, neither Morgan or I had to cook it. I was tired after baking all day, and I knew Morgan would be tired from work, so I called, asked him to pick something up on his way home. At least it's not a greasy bucket of KFC.
  21. Must you always have the last word?
  22. I made candy cane cookies and lemon-rosemary shortbread, so things are going well. Morgan brought home a bag of food from McD's.

    Angelhair Pasta

I'm reminded of a scene from The King of Queens. Carrie is sick, so Holly offers to let Carrie taste her "homework" from a cooking class that Holly is taking, at least until Carrie gets better. Eventually, Carrie does get better, but feigns continued illness to reap the benefits. She requests Holly to make some crab cakes, with real crab fresh from the boats down at the docks....which don't come in until 4:30 a.m. She also points out that it should be "easy" for Holly to bribe a crab man or two. Not that I'm suggesting you should do the same, Dugh!
  24. I just finished Wolf Brother, by Michelle Paver. Six thousand years ago. Evil stalks the land. Only twelve-year-old Torak and his wolf-cub companion can defeat it. Their journey together takes them through deep forests, across giant glaciers, and into dangers they never imagined. Now I'm starting Spirit Walker, the sequel. Torak is a boy apart. A boy who can talk to wolves. As the Moon of No Dark waxes large, the clans fall prey to a horrifying sickness. Fear stalks the Forest. The very breath of Spring seems poisoned. No one knows the cause and only Torak can find the cure. His quest takes him across the sea to the mysterious islands of the Seal Clan. Here Torak battles an unseen menace and uncovers a betrayal that will change his life forever. The books in this series evoke the spirit of Clan of the Cave Bear. The most notable difference is that civilization has evolved into semi-static settlements, though farming and metalworking have yet to be discovered.
