  1. I love gingerbread "cake" more than gingerbread men. Especially with peppermint whipped cream! Don't get me wrong, the cookies are good, too, but given my druthers.... This looks like a very good recipe, and with the lack of carbs, it might help keep the waistline trim during the holiday season.

The recipe I use is found here: https://www.budgetbytes.com/zuppa-toscana/
  3. I thought the same thing. I discovered him by accident.
  4. Hahaha, he's sooo funny, but also thoughtful and giving! This kid has such a good heart!
  5. Dude, when do you go to work?
  6. @Comicality He looks so young, I feel almost indecent, looking at him! BTW, did you see the new topic I posted in the Cafe?
  7. I miss @bignick.
  8. Hey, Bertie. 21 F/ -6.1 C here. After the day I had at work, I'll take two of those Frozen Fog things. Shaken, not stirred, please.
  9. Eggs and toast for me on work days. On the weekends, I might make pancakes or a quiche. For company, I'll do a casserole of some sort, with a side of potatoes. To drink, I usually like milk or tea.

I like this chapter, and the recipe sounds delicious.

    Bus Crazy

Nope. That was just a segue.

It's so hard tell you apart from anyone, with that profile picture. I once made a version of lace cookies for a school project. They were very tasty.
  13. Sorry to hear that, Bertie.

    The Fruitcake

Where else can we read about young Beau?
  15. When I was in high school, I wanted to be taller, thinner, with green eyes and darker skin. Maybe with darker, straight hair that doesn't turn into frizzy curls above the sideburns. And freckles on the nose. But as time went on, I understood that was just wishful thinking. I can't change my curly, straw-like hair, or my eyes, height, or skin tone. I could change my weight, or try anyway, but that's largely due to genetics and an inefficient metabolism. For the most part, I do accept that I can't change anything about the way I look, but I still get the occasional bout of moodiness about my waistline. Then I remind myself that I got married, and my husband clearly likes what he sees when he looks at me, and then I feel better.

Or bricks for a bomb shelter.
  17. So....apparently, Pierce Brosnan has a son. Several, actually, but let's focus on this one. His name is Paris Brosnan, 18 years old, born of his father's second marriage to journalist Keely Shaye Smith. He's modeled extensively for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Balmain, and Dolce & Gabbana. He's involved in several charities, and has even directed his own short film to raise awareness for child hunger in Sri Lanka. Wow. 😮 He's the most photogenic person I've ever seen!
  18. Hey, Xander, Dennis, Jordan, and Ash! How is everyone faring in Florida?

This past summer, my young brother-in-law, Mickey, and his boyfriend were enjoying themselves at the beach, when a little guy named Rory came up and asked them if they could help build a sand castle. They were happy to oblige, and now they've become very good friends with Rory, despite the difference in age. (Mickey and his beau are 16, and Rory is 9.) They regularly come over to our house to play and socialize with other friends on weekends or holidays.

I love Zuppa Toscana! It's my favorite thing at Olive Garden. So much so, that I have my own recipe for it. It has paprika instead of bacon for that smoky flavor, and half of the sausage is replaced by Navy beans.

    Fire Punch

This was a very sweet story, but the Fire Punch sounds like it could strip some paint. In more ways than one. I think we need a chapter with a recipe for cheese fondue. Fondue is a popular meal in Switzerland and Germany, especially during the Advent season. Traditionally, there were restrictions against eating red meat at this time, so it was an appropriate, communal dish that everyone could share. There's also a custom that requires anyone who loses a piece of food in the pot to kiss the person sitting to their left. Could make a cute, funny scene with that, I think.
  22. We're all doing well, thanks. Morgan and I watched a movie on DVD, and Sneakers is curled up in my lap. Mickey, Remy, and Rory are at home with their respective families.
