    My Tale

@Valkyrie and @aditus - I forgot to say, the story they discuss, n counters is also available. A bit longer than this one though.

    My Tale

Thank you! It's fun taking time out to write this sort of thing. I have to say this isn't my usual writing style ...

    Deliberately so.

    My Tale

Thanks, Gary. It was a little tricky trying to find a suitably comedic but appropriate end.

    The Tale

What an interesting comment... Never thought of it in that way. Glad you enjoyed it despite the eccentricities.
  10. I've published mine... @aditus, @Valkyrie, @S.L. Lewis and others may have to do the same.

    My Tale

Isn't it great to get a story finished? You read and re-read the wretched thing until the text blurs into one indecipherable mess; make the final corrections – for the present; take a deep breath; then send it off to your editor. That's how it felt one Monday afternoon when my latest piece whizzed off into the ether to get red-penned. The relief was almost palpable. All of a sudden, there was time to look around and consider exciting things like housework. Meeting friends was no longer out o

    Count On Him

Writing a Dracula mash-up is not the most sensible thing to do perhaps. Especially when one of the principal characters takes exception to the tale. A response to one of Cia's writing games.
  13. tim's story is well worth the read. I haven't tried the others yet - an antho entry is demanding all my attention. But zombies can make for a good read any day. World War Z started me off.

    The Tale

I'm guessing that's not a good response. What in particular didn't you like / enjoy? What an intriguing thought. Thanks, dugh.

    The Tale

Yes, it is, but it's also fun (to me, at least). It fulfilled a long-held desire to get this story written (done?).

    The Tale

[On a cool, bright, sunny morning, two people march towards a dingy block of flats. They're having an animated conversation.] [The woman speaks first.] I still don't understand why you're so worried about Bill, Daniel. [She gulps in air – the pace is brisk.] You've never met in real life. Have you? [Daniel strides along without any problems breathing.] Err… yeah. Only a few times though, when we've both ended up in the same place. You know – gaming conventions and such. [He appears keen

When you think of Dracula, what other thoughts are present in your head? Forget blood and horror; how about maths, Kate Bush lyrics, or Chelsea FC supporters. No? Well, this is the story that includes them all and then some.
  20. You lost me...
  21. asymptotes? As usual with any of your scientific / maths-derived poems, it matters not that I don't know some of the words. As other have said, the real meaning is clear and that's what counts.
  22. What a wonderful thought. It was a Christmas prompt so there's the glitter and sparkle from that, plus the pantomime theme of people assuming different appearances. As you say, fairy tale.
  23. Yes, maybe that's why I made the swap. In fact, if I were to write the whole thing again, I'd most likely keep Sam's POV all the way through. Thanks for your encouragement, dugh.
  24. Glad I got that right; certainly it felt right when I wrote it. Yes, it was brief - expanded somewhat from a prompt response with a word limit of 750. I may well come back to it at some point in the future.
  25. Yes, Drew is more settled in himself, even if his parents aren't yet up to speed. Sam? Well, that's the first thing I'd have to decide were I to continue / expand the story.
