However it works out, I think Kyle might be good for Jake and help him mature a bit. He is quite a bit older than Jake. Jake is the youngest member of the junior class and Kyle is a senior who will graduate at the end of term.

Sounds like oil and water to me! lol Let's see how it goes with Jake first. I do love how opposite Kyle and Ryan turned out to be. Shy extrovert vs. confident introvert.

Ryan - Yeah, I think most of our relationships in life end with a whimper, not a bang. People just come and go in our lives and sometimes you wonder whatever happened to them. I am liking the contrast of Ryan the shy extrovert and Kyle the confident introvert. Should be fun to explore!

I like to think that Kyle will be good for Jake no matter how it works out. He's certainly the most mature boy in the story so far.

You know me and my brooding red heads. Don't know if I'd call Kyle brooding though, just kind of a loner interested in his own things. Who said he was a virgin though? He just doesn't hook up. He's looking for deeper connection, not a quickie.

I don't think we'll ever fully understand the complexities of sexuality because it's more art than science.

I kind of see Ryan as someone who just can't have someone be angry with him, sort of a people-pleaser. Why is he even playing football? Because that's what his dad wanted. Why'd he have sex with Jake? That's what Jake wanted. Yes, he was betrayed and reacted out of anger, but he can't just let Jake be mad at him forever, so he offered friendship.

I wouldn't necessarily say that's the case. I think for Danny relationships are adventures that come and go, but I think he has a very deep love for Jake, he's been trying to process what that means. Now, does he use the girls he's with to process that? He sure does. Maybe sometimes we "declare a major" before we decide what we want to do with our life?

I specialize in writing characters you want to slap. I like this take on Danny. He's not a bad kid, but he is confused, that's for sure. Still not sure where he fits in in the world.

So good I don't know where to start! I just love you so much, I hope you know that! I think Danny's idea of a soulmate is still under construction. He felt something with Jake he'd never felt with any of his other sexual encounters and he's trying to process what it meant. Certainly, he wanted to have sex with Jake, and has for quite a while. But in getting what he wanted he realized maybe what he wanted was more than he wanted it to be?

Author's secret - I don't really believe in soulmates. But Danny does, and so I treat it as seriously as he does. I believe we could have many relationships that could all end up being our "one true love," and so much is based on timing, geography, willingness to try, etc.. I have tried to take the "fairy tale" out of this one and just have fun with it and see where it goes. I've enjoyed the journey as the boys discover who they are, and who they might become.
