Shit Shit Shit This is NOT what Elias needs now. Yes Wayne is a master at garnering strong emotions with his incredible writing. I want to throttle that Park Ranger and take Elias' mother to a deserted island and chain her to a palm tree where alligators are always hungry! Great chapter Wayne - I hope I don't need another box of Kleenex!

Wayne you succeeded in transmitting those deep frightful feelings emitting from Elias and the sincere caring feelings coming from Orson. I know I repeat myself a lot here but, what a wonderful chapter. Made me cry but they were happy tears! Camp Refuge is a perfect name!!!

I agree the realism is superb. Thanks Wayne for this wonderfully gripping story. I also picked up the fact that Orson may have found a " new calling" after police work. Use that psych education! Looking forward to the Birthday Party.

Another great chapter. We get to see more depth of each character and understand more about what make them so interesting and lovable. Wonderful story Wayne. Let's get the kids back for a great Birthday Party!! Maybe Jeremy will play and sing??

Yea I understand but I certainly don't agree with the delivery. Once again Wayne you are able to convey heartfelt emotions from your characters. Sad - but an excellent chapter. And I agree with Mancunian - Orson may be the key that will unlock all the fears and mistrust!! Jeremy will be the hardest to rebuild.

Sorry for your problems with the utilities and the fires. I just hate to see beautiful landscape destroyed by firestorms. And I have to get on my soapbox here and agree with droughtquake - we should be reinvesting in our children's future by putting billions of dollars into rebuilding and reinforcing our infrastructures: burying power lines; repairing bridges; and numerous other worthwhile endeavors - not building a f''ing wall! Sorry just had to say that!!

I'm glad your telling this story Wayne. There is still too much bigotry and condemnation associated with HIV + people. It's no wonder Jeremy doesn't want too many people to know!! My husband and I worked in the HIV/AIDS sector for over a decade on the 80's-90's. It was a dreadful time and took a lot out of us both emotionally and physically but we both cherish the time because we both feel we made a difference in many peoples lives. Thank you Wayne for this story. As always, it is very well written. My very best wishes go out to Mikiesboy!!

Great chapter Wayne. And I agree, Clay and Greg have known each other in everyway except intimately for the past 20 years- so its the obvious next step! Good for them. Jeremy is chastising himself for becoming involved with (what he considers) a kid!!! Hopefully he'll realize 4 years age difference is only a number.

This is my little part to take a wrecking ball to that. Shine a little light, show just how barbaric and terrible it is - and maybe we can build something better tomorrow And THANK YOU for doing it!! Yes things have improved but, unfortunately, we have gone a few steps "backwards" here in the States over the past couple of years. That's all I say about that!

Another great beginning! I must admit - having grown up in California - I still had to Goggle Hiouchi ! As droughtquake said - you don't hear must about small northern towns unless there is a disaster. I'm hooked again Wayne!
