You make a very good point @weinerdog Despite losing his (supposedly?) much loved car Matt almost appears to be colluding with Levi to hide his involvement in how it came to be where it was found.

‘Worst thing is, when the car got torched, I lost my log book. All the hours I’d already done. Up in smoke.’ I can only be astounded at Levi's definition of 'the worst thing'. It would seem the enormity of what he did hasn't sunk in yet

No idea where this might be going, but I'm in for the ride. -
It will be interesting to see what form the 'redemption' takes as thus far Levi appears to have escaped very lightly. Telling Casey & gang that he wanted no more to do with them was easy as that was disposing of trash. Winning back the trust of others will be a lot harder

At last Levi seems to be coming to his senses. Casey has been ditched, along with his crowd. Now comes the time for confession, to apologise to all those he has hurt and to seek forgiveness. That no doubt will be hard for some.

I suspect that as a result of his church upbringing Levi may be looking at what he has done in biblical terms. Had he just taken the car for a drive without permission and put a dent or scratch in it, he would consider that a sin, admit his guilt and accept whatever scourging resulted. What occurred though was so much more and the sin thus much, much bigger. He is now scared of what the scourging might be - will he end up in juvenile detention, might his father even disown him? All that has been good in the last few months since his father came into his life is now in danger of falling apart, all because of his stupidity in not listening to the warnings he was given.

Does Matt love his Commodore more than his son? He's certainly had much more of a relationship with it.

I'm a bit surprised details of the actual car crash aren't already circulating. I'd have expected Casey's mates not to hold back about 'Churchey' crashing his dad's car.

Only he didn't.. He stayed close to Casey at first, sipping his Coke and taking it all in. The freedom, the noise, the lack of rules – it felt dangerous and thrilling all at once. As the night deepened, he let Dylan talk him into trying a scotch and Coke. The warmth spread through his chest on the first sip. Over time, he had a second, then a third, and soon he was pleasantly buzzed – light-headed, smiling easier, laughing at jokes he probably wouldn’t have found funny otherwise.

If Levi replaced the keys that would indicate he was trying to pretend, at least to himself, that the whole evening never happened. Had he left them in the car he could hope the conclusion might be that a joyrider stole the car and crashed it. (Do we know any likely joyriders? 🙂)

I'm not as sure as @Summerabbacat that Levi will readily confess. He's already lied to Luke about what he did last night and I suspect he is going to keep digging the hole he is in. At least until the point at which whoever brought him home last night turns up to expose him. I suppose something like this was inevitable considering the life he had previously led, but now he's blown all the trust Matt placed in him.

One other thought. It was either very brave or very foolish of Levi to tell Casey what happened between him and Brooke. If Casey starts spreading that round the school she will get the reputation of being a slag (or whatever the relevant terms is there and then) and she'll also ditch Levi like a hot potato for spilling the beans as opposed to the seed! 🙂
