  4. I have a comment, but since it would require a whole boatload of trigger warnings AND be placed in The Pit, I won't.
  5. Tags and content warnings have nothing to do with each other at all. Tags are a way to sort stories for particular content. Content warnings are notes placed by the author in the story and/or the chapter for specific items that are known to cause issue with some people. Audience rating is pretty much the standard everywhere and how to rate the story is included in the FAQ for posting a story.

  13. I am not a fan of content warnings either. However, a significant enough population of our members desires them and they are only a minor inconvenience, if that, to the author. If you don't like them, ignore them. If you do like them, read them.

    Formatting

It's subtle. The editor is exactly the same in the Stories system as here. The editor takes what you put into it. When you are not remotely technically savvy, such as your example of a link to an 82 yo author, you get what you get. The display portion of stories actively strips out excessive double spacing and a number of other common issues to try to correct for bad inputs from the members. In an ideal situation, an author can copy their text from their word processor, paste into the editor, and then click the button that clears formatting. This would give the cleanest input. Unfortunately, a lot of people overuse italics and bold and would then have to manually put it back in. This is why we don't automatically strip formatting on paste. Some authors (not the one linked, to be clear) also ignore us when we tell them to use plain text with minimal formatting so that it shows up correctly in most browsers. When we remind them, they yell at us like we are somehow destroying their art. 10 years of that with self posting... and well... no... you want an author to fix something, reach out and help them fix it. We can't fix that problem from the system end. We've done as much as we can.
  15. I have never been a fan of apple products. Thus I don't have them and cannot troubleshoot the quirks they have. I can't say it is your device, but I can't duplicate it on my gadgets.
  16. dkstories has always been able to capture and articulate political situations in his story very well, including the motivational dynamics of politically engaged people. And then spin that into an interesting plot, of course.
  17. @Zombie I tweaked some settings in the member's group. please try again. (My issue occurred in Firefox on windows when I was doing a mass upload of CJames files, which were fairly sizable.)
  18. It looks like it is hitting a size cap, but not telling you. I've had that happened to me as well.

  21. The Top Stories widget has been fixed with the latest update and it has returned to the front page to work together with the Top recommended stories.
  22. We have patched the site with the latest update. There are a handful of requested changes in this update. Story System Reputation First up, on the Authors listing, we can now sort by "Highest Story Reputation" Under an author's icon, you'll now see 2 numbers. The Green number is the Site Reputation Total. (The likes across the entire site). The number in the gray box is the Story Reputation. (This is the likes from just the stories/chapters/comments in the story system). You can now view the most popular author based on positive feedback on their story content. Story Types The next feature we've added is a new filter in the stories system to allow you to select stories of a specific size. Some special notes about "Story Type": This filter is only showing live data in the story system The titled story type is only a range of story word count as it exists at the moment you use the filter. We used the Wikipedia definition of story types while adding the last 3. Since this is live data, when an author posts new content with sufficient word count, then the story type will change. And to repeat... Story Type is number of words in the story at the moment you use the filter. Stories List for Fan Clubs There is now a way to list an authors stories in a Fan Club. This makes getting to the author's stories that much easier when you are hanging out in their Fan Club. The listing is the same as you'd see visiting the author in the Stories section. (I've gone through and added the stories list to all of the open fan clubs)
  23. Steve was startled out of the cuddling and light foreplay with his boyfriend by the ear-piercing squeal of the klaxon alarm. He bounced upright and out of bed before his brain caught up to his body’s response. “God damnit! We’ll have to continue this later.” “Promise?” “Hell yes!” “General Quarters! All hands to actions stations! General Quarters! All hands to action stations!” His boyfriend joined him out of bed and they both donned their uniforms. “If that
