Aleric, I'm switching to PHP (and have been for some time) because it is much easier to handle navigation links, google ads, and format updates like that than it is to update say 40 chapters in Do Over's case. Dan's site is just the latest one I'm working on. You may have noticed that I did the same with all of Gay Author's pages about two weeks ago. This is also in preparation of moving the site content into a Content Management System. As for the script, I only have a basic idea of what I want out of one. I haven't taken the time to diagram it yet. That will come soon. After I know exactly what I want, I can tell you whether or not what you have would work. If it doesn't then perhaps we can work together to make it work, or I can find alternative methods. Myr

I've managed to complete some updates to the Story Archive codebase. There is nothing visible at this time, but the updates I've made allows for further work that will be visible.

Hi, I'm sure some people have noticed some contruction work going on here at the site this weekend. Some things have been rolled out already and some things will hopefully be out by the end of the day. First up, I'd like to thank dkstories and congratulate him on his rise to Site Moderator. He has been assigned a brand new forum, The Soapbox. The Soapbox is a place to discuss hot and controversial topics. There is a set of extensive rules for that forum that you should look over before posting. Dan will be enforcing them. Along with the new forum, we have a new color theme for it. Since the theme overrides any personal settings, the font sizes for that forum have been increased to facilitate reading by the older folks here. Another new color theme has been completed and installed in The Library and it's subforums. This theme is based on woodgrain and color. This theme is also of the larger font variety to help those who are reading a lot in those forums More stuff will be coming later. Myr

Between work, school and the site, I'm barely keeping myself together, let alone been able to track how others are doing. Today I've been trying to play catch up to tons of stuff on my agenda. You are always welcome here and if it seems readers aren't expressing thoughts here, well, that's at epidemic and it isn't limited to just you. When I'm looking at Nifty stories, I tend to eyeball chapter length. If the chapters are under about 15K and there aren't many or if there are a ton of short chapters (under 10k), then I usually write off the story. On FanFiction, I'm even more tough. I won't even look at a story that is not at least 10,000 words long. I tend to follow the same format when looking for stories for the Story Archive. If it's not very long, it doesn't generally land on the list to even look at, let alone include.

Some of these are real groaners ... 1. Two vultures board an airplane, each carrying two dead raccoons. Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, but when they lit a fire in the craft, it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it, too. 4. A three-legged dog walks into a saloon in the Old West. He slides up to the bar and announces: "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw." 5. Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal? He wanted to transcend dental medication. 6. A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. Hugh beat up the friars and trashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop. Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that Hugh, and only Hugh, can prevent florist friars. 9. Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him ....what? (Oh, man, this is so bad, it's good) A super callused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis. 10. And finally, there was a man who sent ten different puns to friends, with the hope that at least one of the puns would make them laugh. Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.

This may not be new but it is still interesting. This one is really an eye opener.... Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before. WATER 1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. 2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. 3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%. 4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. 5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. 6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses so water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. 7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzz short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on printed page. 8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. And now for the properties of COKE: 1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. 2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days. 3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China. 4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. 5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminal: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. 6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes. 7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy. 8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. 9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield. For Your Information: 1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis. 2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous Material placards reserved for highly corrosive materials. 3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is, would you like a coke or a glass of water?

This position will have two main goals: a) Make use of the systems we have to increase Story Review /Author Feedback. join the team developing a new system. (feedback and brainstorming needed here, not necessarily programming skills) It is very important that I get help in these areas. I'm looking for people that can dedicate a few hours a week to this and a few minutes a day to participate in development discussions. This site has grown well past the point where I alone can maintain and develop it. Help is needed and required if you expect me to keep this site open without burning out.

To the Gay Authors Community: I'm currently working with several members here to develop a long-term solution to the feedback issue we writers face. As part of this longer term solution, I would like to run some experiments on the short term. I'm looking for someone that has some serious time and devotion to help develop some stuff for the entire community. If the short term stuff works, then we can fully integrate it into our long-term solution. I know I'm being a bit vague here, but that's on purpose. I need someone who: 1) Has time to coordinate what may turn out to be a fairly large project 2) Has enough leadership to being take ideas and turn them into reality. 3) Can work with our some development team to help with the long-term development If you think you have the time and the skills, then drop me a PM.
