  1. A very happy birthday to Stew and to Rainbow. :king: I hope you have a great day. And on Saint Patty's Day too...
  2. If you wish to be an author and write something, then please request being put in the Author group.
  3. As you are hopefully aware, we have the Spring Anthology coming up. Who is writing something for it? https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/index.php...ounce&f=4&id=11
  4. sounds cool! Good luck to you
  5. https://www.gayauthors.org/guests/index.php Check it out and let me know what you think.
  6. Congratulations! and thanks
  7. I've posted everything I know. No idea why he went off the deep end.
  8. The new server we are on is not as tied down as the old one was. Therefore, some features that wouldn't work before, now work very well. This is true of the blog links: https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/blog/myr/ Blog users should go to their settings and check the box that says "Friendly URL". They should then put in the name they wish to use. (myr is my case) They Vola! Instant friendly links. Somethings that are now working better are the integration between the Top Site List Link Engine and the board. There are still a few little bugs to work out there. Over all, it is very nice to be here at the new server. Please report any bugs you notice to me via PM. Myr
  9. There is a rumor going around by a former member that is full of crap. As he is still behaving childishly even after leaving, I'm leaving this message: The reason we moved servers is simple and straightforward. Our old ISP limited us to 15 GB per month transfer. We grew so much that we actually transferred 18 GB last month. (For those of you in la la land, that is 3 GB over our limit) I moved us to a new ISP that is giving us 200 GB per month transfer. And it's $3 less. Rumors that we switched because I was scared of our former member's connections at the parent company of our old ISP are ridiculous and show you just how over inflated said former member's ego is. It's no wonder that we weren't able to sustain it. Normally I wouldn't do this publicly, but I am sick and tired of the slandering going on behind the scenes by someone too cowardly to say it to my face. I have no respect for people of this sort.
  10. probably dkstories...dkstories....
  11. Thank you very much for your kind words. When I get time, I will be writing more of HP& the PoD.
  12. Attention all members: As some of you may have guessed, Crackerwriter decided to leave us here. I have complied with his request and removed his site from Gay Authors. I don't have the time now, but all of his posts will be removed soon as well. Also, the stories he wrote for the Anthology will be removed. Please bear in mind that I'm complying with his request. If you have a problem with that, I'm sure you'll find a way to contact him. Please do not complain on the site. It was his decision, not ours. If anyone else would like to leave, that is your perogative. I'd appreciate it if you would do so quietly and send me a PM telling me such. Throwing a temper tantrum on the board will result in burned bridges. Also, a reason your leaving and a suggestion on how to improve the site, would also be helpful. Thank you. Myr Site Admin
  13. There is a link to the forums on many of the authors pages. Dan does his own pages, so he puts whatever links he likes. I'll see to being more effective about getting the links everywhere. Thanks for the suggestion.
  14. No. But it is possible to track how many hits you get at nifty through a link in the story archive here. (it is the number of views listed on the story archive) Once you have a post on Nifty, we can add you to the archive, if you'd like.
  15. Post in more than one place. Nifty, by it's nature (it has 10 bloody mirror servers) is a hell of a lot busier than here. This is just a place for authors to gather. I can't force people to provide feedback. Lord knows most of us writers would like some. BTW, I've got my stuff posted elsewhere as well. Fanfiction.net and fictionpress.com. This does not include the different places that people have mirrored. Oh, PoD has also been translated into French and Russian. Post around. It's probably the only way to get a steady trickle of feedback. As for the others, as I said above, if I'm not aware of a problem, I can't address it.
  16. Reaperharvest, Gay Authors isn't going anywhere. Not while I'm running it. We will be moving servers, but I'm waiting on that now. It'll take 3 days and I can't close the board when this BS is going on. Don't worry guy. Myr
  17. I find this all very frustrating. Let me cover a few points: 1) The vast majority of people that read stories never reply or write to the author. 2) It is not the job of this site to give you feedback. This site is about providing a community to those that want to discuss gay writing. As Dom I think aptly put it, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. 3) Except for the complaints of one author about feedback, I haven't been made aware of any problems. How can I fix something if I don't know it's broken? You wanna know about lack of feedback? How about what you "several" are doing to this site, hmmm? I have, in good faith, provided this site to the gay community at large. Most of the cost is coming out of my pocket directly. Most of the admin activity is handled by myself. I have asked for volunteers... nada. I have asked for feedback on how to improve the site. Two things, which I did what I could with and have been working very hard to take care of on the next version of the Story Archive. This topic makes it sound like it is my personal responsiblity to support the ego of every writer of words to cross my path. Honestly, I do the best I can. If you want me to correct any perceived problems, then let me know what you think they are. As for this walkout, I'm not holding a gun to your head. Stay and help make this place better, or leave. The choice is yours. Throwing a temper tantrum isn't helping anyone.
  18. I've had a very long day and I return to find a temper tantrum going on. I can only provide services here. It's not this site's fault that the VAST MAJORITY of readers prefer to read and never say anything. Taking it out on Gay Authors is not only unfair, it is completely childish. I have done everything I can to address ALL issues that have come up. I have implemented suggestions as much as possible, but you'll please note, that suggestions haven't been forthcoming here any more than emails to authors or story comments. Further, for a Hosted Author to throw such a temper tantrum is radically unfair. I do not charge people for this site. I do not charge authors to be hosted. This all comes straight out of my pocket except for a few generous donations from some good friends of GA. I'll look into some of Dom's suggestions as soon as time permits. (this weekend) Feel free to post more suggestions. I'll do everything I can to improve the experience here, but I can't improve something if I'm not aware of the problem
  19. I'm looking for volunteers to help with the Newsletter. I need volunteers for writing articles and for deciding format we're going to use. Please PM me if you are interested in participating. Thanks, Myr
  20. There is a new user group now availible. It is Advanced Author. People in the Authors group will automatically move to the Advanced Author group when they hit 75 posts. The Advanced Author groups includes some expanded features, including the ability to run your own blog here on the site. For those Authors over 75 posts, you should switch automatically to the new group next time you post.
  21. Dom's the deciding factor in that one. It only takes me about 5 minutes to post it from the time I get my email. Of course, I'm at work all day, so that kind of prevents me from doing it then.
  22. Welcome everyone!
  23. Perhaps I should add a forum of your own down there DK... then you'd have to go down there. (especially if I told the system to email you everytime someone posted )
  24. I've gotten stuck in the driveway the last 2 days trying to get out to go to work. The irony is that we snowblow the driveway everyday. The snowbanks are now so high that the snowblower is having trouble blowing the snow over the top of them. All the same, I'd much rather have snow then heat. If I had a snowmobile, you'd never see me online at all (I should go spend time with grandpa... he has a bunch)
  25. A very Happy 15th Birthday to you! :king: Many many more to you
