Is your profile up to date? You can go to your profile by selecting your name on top. then select Profile. Then select Edit Profile: Make sure your age range and top 3 genres are all filled out and accurate. That helps us out a lot.

Personally, I use both. I prefer dark mode when reading and light mode when I'm doing other stuff. My operating systems are set to dark mode though.

It is definitely annoying when authors choose to remove their works from archives. I saved all those stories I was reading back in the day. They are still in one of the directories on one of my computers 30 years later.
