  1. Myr's post in Have an error in my series list that I can't clear was marked as the answer
Should be all set.  Anthology categories are locked from edits, so staff need to do it.
  2. Myr's post in How do I add a bio? was marked as the answer
It should be "Edit Author" when you click "My Stories."

  3. Myr's post in Latest story faux paw was marked as the answer
I'm sorry, I'm confused.  There is no chapter 12.
  4. Myr's post in Issue with Reviews not appearing? was marked as the answer
Reviews are only shown on Complete stories. when you changed from Complete to Long Term Hold, you turned off reviews on the story.  The system only allows comments until the story is done.  when a story is done, you can review it.
  5. Myr's post in Member/Author/Reader? What is meant by reader and who determines this title? was marked as the answer
A reader is a member who has posted no content and has no reputation (typically brand new to the site).  A member is someone who has actively engaged in the community. (As of this writing, it requires 50 achievement points to move from Reader to Member).
  6. Myr's post in Last visited bug? was marked as the answer
    That's accurate.
dkstories is a special case where we had in our possession a story to repost.
  7. Myr's post in Using World Building genre? was marked as the answer
You should post a story with it in the World Building Category (not fiction)
    https://gayauthors.org/stories/browse/category/149-world-building/
Select the World Building Genre Type.

Then you should create a World. (Worlds are unordered stories existing in the same world.  Series are directly connected ordered stories. ie A Trilogy or such)
Then add your new world building story to the World. And your main story.
Here is an example of how I did my own world.  One of those is a world building entry and two short stories:

  8. Myr's post in Story Chapter Comments was marked as the answer
Patched.  It should be working now.
  9. Myr's post in Stories with same title - notification bug was marked as the answer
Notifications in the system do not use title to track items.  Everything in the background has an id number and notifications are tracked by that ID.  If you got a notification for a story, it's because you followed that story or author.  In this case, the author, as it was alerting a new story.

  10. Myr's post in Next chapter options was marked as the answer
This is active on the site now.
  11. Myr's post in Page view count? was marked as the answer
Lots of factors play into it.  but Stories almost always have that pattern.  Especially stories posted over a length of time.  (Say once a month).  Some people will reread all posted chapters before reading the new chapter.  Or the author may have posted the first chapter on a slow day on site, so got a lot more clicks than usual.
Views are only an indicator. Reactions, recommendations, and reviews are more reliable indicator of how people are enjoying a story.
    @ReaderPaul, pretty much yes.
  12. Myr's post in Question about Genres was marked as the answer
In the story archive, categories are something different and are labeled as such qhen you edit stories. You are asking about Genres and Sub-genres so i fixed your topic title.
You can choose any sub-genre that makes sense for your story. The primary genres are set automatically when you select a sub genre. So if you set Family Saga as a subgenre it will automatically show under Literary Fiction Primary genre.
The system will squawk if you set too many sub-genres. If you have that many you want to set, then the story probably lacks focus or you just need to set experimental as you aren't fitting into genre fiction.
  13. Myr's post in Submitting content that's already been self-published was marked as the answer
Drop a PM to @Cia, and discuss with her.  We'll have to confirm some things.
  14. Myr's post in CSS slightly off was marked as the answer
    This is now patched.
  15. Myr's post in Duplicate Reactions was marked as the answer
    Just a random hiccup.
  16. Myr's post in Embedded YouTube changed was marked as the answer
    We don't control YouTube sadly.
You are sure you are linked to a specific video and not a Playlist or some such?
  17. Myr's post in Site error was marked as the answer
Yup.  Did a server upgrade this morning.  The database was updating and offline when you got that error.
  18. Myr's post in Odd Link Issue was marked as the answer
Links are fixed.  I think something was added from Comsie's end.
  19. Myr's post in Club Directory on my Profile was marked as the answer
    Not seeing the issue.
Just use the normal links. Click Clubs (1) and then look at the list of clubs you are a member of, "My Clubs" (2)

  20. Myr's post in Story Status - Author Deceased was marked as the answer
From what I can see from the more limited history tracking we had in 2018, none of the stories were marked as "Complete" at time of notification.  As I have not personally read the stories, I don't know if they are or are not.  If you know of stories that are complete and marked as "Author Deceased", add them here and I'll correct them to "Complete"
"Author Deceased" is a complete status in the system, allowing reviews.  "Unfinished" implies future finish.  "Abandoned" implies deliberately giving up.  "Author Deceased" was about all we could come up with to indicate something was unfinished and would never be finished, but wasn't deliberately left that way.  And we maxed out the text field size for that too.
Site metrics indicate that the vast majority of traffic doesn't use the filters and would see any story of any status listed.  Especially if they click on an authors name.  If you are filtering to "Complete" status in order to read, congrats, you are in the 1%.
Not offended... just REALLY long week at work and limited time to reply.  Sorry if it's sharper than intended.
  21. Myr's post in Emoticon bar (Reactions) was marked as the answer
This is the way the software works, sorry.
If you want it horizonal, then make sure you are using a PC  (or other full-sized screen).  It only goes vertical on mobile devices or when you have a smaller than standard resolution.
  22. Myr's post in Dark mode issues was marked as the answer
Looking at the code, it appears that font size, font color, and font background were set.
As you can see from what you are currently experiencing, the sheer number of combos of writing software, browsers and whatever means there is no one answer to what causes this.  My past experience, and it is written in FAQ, says that if you have default text size, default text type and only use italics, you can copy and past into the editor with no issue.
But you must check when it posts.

Both the dark mode text and text resizing are broke.
You can edit the chapter and do what usually works, pasting from your Mac and not your iPad.
or you can use highlight your text and hit the Text Format Remover button

Be aware that since you used italics, you'll need to reapply.

Either way, please verify your chapters work when they are posted. The text controls are critical for readability for many members.

  23. Myr's post in Creating a new story failed and the error message didn't help was marked as the answer
No. That's not the purpose of a category in our system. (Fiction, FanFiction, Poetry, Non-Fiction, World Building, Special Event Fiction, basically).  All other categorization occurs through the deep genre/sub-genre categorizations.
I'm rather confused. The picture you included  tells you to go through each Step. And two different Steps have a ❗showing you there is an issue on that step.
Just follow the "How Do I Post A Story on GA FAQ"

  24. Myr's post in Notification Delay was marked as the answer
There was a corrupt notification in the queue that caused the queue to lock. I've reached out to the programmer for assistance on it.
  25. Myr's post in Scheduled Posting was marked as the answer
This saves your chapter to the site, but does not publish it publicly:

This is default and recommended, especially for people that have troubles with chapters looking the way they want in the system.  This allows you to edit a few times while only you can see it.

If you toggle the Publish Chapter button:

You get another toggle option (publish now) that will only be available if you have not posted in the last 24 hours.
It defaults to 24 hours after the last published chapter or about 5 minutes into the future if you are past the 24 hours.
Pushing the "Save Chapter" button as show above will Save the story to the system and Publish it publicly at the listed date/time.

If you toggle the Publish Chapter and Publish Now toggles:

Then hit "save chapter" , it will save to the system and publish publicly immediately.  This was the old default prior to the update. Reminder: "Publish Now" will be grayed out if you are attempting to publish a chapter inside that warning time.
I will update the FAQ with images to make it clearer.
