  1. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 50

This is truly a remarkable work on so many levels. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas, talents, and philosophy of life with us this way. Like everyone else, I would like to see more, but I also know that every good story has an ending. I look forward to whatever future prose or poetry you choose to share.
  2. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 49

May your family grow and become as large as Ethan's.
  3. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 48

Super! I particularly enjoyed the various representatives from the U.K. And thanks for sharing some old musical favorites and introducing me to some really great new ones over the last two chapters.
  4. Well, it depends on the context. "Alone" can be as much heaven as hell. I just spent two days hiking "alone", and I'm much the better for it.

    Chapter 47

Your imagination knows no end. The diverse and global nature of the guests was super. You know how to plan the perfect wedding for sure. Nice to see a role developing for Trevor. And, based on some poetry from last winter, I'm glad to see Ethan's real-world counterpart enjoying similar companionship. May it continue.

    Chapter 46

I read the previous comments. I too was curious about the poisoning of Dorian. Perhaps more will be told. I though the selection of Drake was perfect. It's good to avoid the obvious. This was a good gathering together of loose ends. So now I"m curious about what the remaining chapters will bring.

    Chapter 45

Here's a link to the "Cave and Basin National Historic Site", now part of Banff National Park. Your crystal ball was working overtime. https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/lhn-nhs/ab/caveandbasin/info

    Chapter 45

This was an extremely great chapter, and a tear-jerker for me - more than once. You also inspired me to do a little research on Banff. Now I'm curious if you did on-site or internet research for your story. I have a feeling you enhanced the caverns a little. Everything fits together so well, and your attention to detail and lycan creativity is wonderful. And I don't have to wait for the next chapter, but I'm going to arbitrarily decide to do so for a day or so.

    Chapter 44

Another great chapter. I'm enjoying the emphasis on diversity, and occasionally smirking at the traditional regional viewpoints. You're juggling a lot of varied interactions and personalities in this chapter, and it flows very smoothly.

    Chapter 43

Absolutely superb, my friend, from the detailed fight to the description of the unique meeting room to the conclusion of the chapter. Your imagination knows no bounds. I can hardly wait to see how the rest of the chapters evolve. But then, having come late to the game, I don't have to wait.

    Chapter 42

Back to reading again. You're a master at conflict and building tension. I loved this chapter and I'm looking forward to the rest over the next couple of weeks.

    Quatrains

The contrast in the two makes each more vivid - an excellent pairing of emotions. Your poems are excellent, but so was the discussion above it. Writing to a specific form is difficult, but writing to a specific theme in addition is even more so. I'll remember AC's advice when I get back to these prompts. To paraphrase a recent comment by another GA member, if the voices don't speak, there is nothing to write.
  13. Sometimes I think you are reading my mind, but maybe you are reading the collective mind. You are wise beyond your years. Thank you for putting into words what many feel but cannot express.

    Discontent

I greatly related to this poem, especially the first five lines. My thoughts ran to how this time of year relates to this time of life, and how I enjoy the peace and relaxation it brings, as well as the cynicism that says, "Let the sheep learn to protect themselves."
  15. Thanks for sharing this beautiful vision of what friendship is all about.

    What is home?

  17. Thanks, tim. Correct on not remembering the good times and dwelling on the bad ones. Today, one of the visitors I had helped came back a few minutes later and put a donation in the volunteer association jar because I "...was so entertaining". I'll probably remember that one for a while.
  18. Excellent story, tim. I've recently been volunteering at the visitor center help desk at a nearby international tourist attraction. Working with people in this context is NOT something I've done all my life, and it's great to be able to provide visitors with the information they need to optimize the enjoyment of their vacations. We also have some visitors who are loudly unhappy about the horrible traffic situation in this over-used area or about not being able to access some areas because of a 50,000 acre fire we had a couple years ago. We had some of those complainers on Wednesday, and I was glad to get the hell out of there at the end of my shift. Your story put a smile on my face for the start of today's shift and reminded me why I should still be smiling at the end of the day.

    Chapter 41

Excellent, as always. From other comments, I'm glad I've waited for the rewrite.
  20. The words will come In their own time When least expected
  21. Okay, I'll wish you a happy birthday then, assuming the "my" doesn't mean something you're preparing for someone else.
  22. One could become paranoid about eating ...
  23. Yeah, I feel that way sometimes too, but be assured you're very easy to tolerate
  24. I think you're both right, although "immune" may not be the correct term; "ignored" may be more to the point. I think editing a chapter resets the post time for the chapter to "now". I had a similar experience once, being accused rudely and incorrectly of setting a chapter to start before the story when I had set neither, complicated by arbitrary future post times being set automatically when I was still in purgatory. My suggestions that there might be programmatic issues fell on deaf ears. So much for twenty years of programming and testing experience. Now I'll go have breakfast and see if my attitude improves.

    MS19 - The Ring

Very creative. This could be the starting point for a truly unending story. Adapted for TV, it could become the serial to end all serials.
