  1. Enjoy your day, tim, in spite of the weather. Other than the perpetual east wind, it is sunny today and slightly above freezing, Perhaps spring is on the way, or will we have a white St. Patrick's day.
  2. Yes, there are limits. From what little I've written, I understand completely that all good things come to an end, and never-ending stories don't work. However, there will undoubtedly be more good things
  3. No, we will just expect a sequel.
  4. I look forward to this every week. I hope it continues for a long time. Thanks again for sharing your talent with us.

    Chapter 19

I suspected the wheelchair because of something Issac said in one of the last two letters, I don't remember for sure which or what. It wasn't a surprise. The letters are becoming even more interesting
  6. I had jury duty once once several years ago for a drug-related case, and it was a disappointing experience to say the least. So I got tapped again a couple years ago just before my seventieth birthday, to report two weeks after said birthday. Well, it happens that in this state, you can get a permanent exemption after age seventy. So in addition to pleading short attention span, frequent urination, and a couple other things, all true, I requested the exemption. They didn't send it until the day of my birthday, and it was the best birthday present of the year. I do a lot of volunteer work, but my civic-mindedness ends at the courthouse door.
  7. Okay, I took a whack at Lyrics. I believe they meet the criteria, with a little rhyming added (sorry, AC, I can't resist), except for the thought vs. emotion part. But that's not surprising since I don't differentiate well between the two. https://gayauthors.org/story/backwoods-boy/backwoods-reflections/5

    Sweet and Sour

Excellent chapter, tim. And I see I wasn't the only one looking up recipes as I read this chapter. And I admire Don for putting the bureaucrats in their place. I did foster care once for a short time as a single male foster parent. Fortunately, the social workers were more reasonable or it wouldn't have happened.

    Chapter 34

    Excellent chapter again.
  10. The recipe sounds really great. Unfortunately for me, there are more than six ingredients ...
  11. Sounds like a perfect time to get rid of aggression and hostility.
  12. As they say in British movies, "Quite".
  13. Maybe it's like one of those quotes about the internet attributed to Mark Twain and/or Abraham Lincoln. 😒 Now I better go have breakfast before my cynicism really overflows.
  14. The cynic speaks: Not only is someone trying to pad their community reputation count, they can't even remember how they did it. Time for an IQ check. 😒
  15. x Maybe it's not laughable, but you definitely made me laugh.
  16. Having never done any gaming, I'm coming at this from the other end. My characters do indeed take over the story. A "bad boy" can't be reformed - he'll stay true to his underlying philosophy of life. An intelligent boyfriend eventually figures that out. That wasn't what I intended, but it's what happened, and the results were far more interesting when the author decided to go with the flow. So, maybe I should take up gaming.
  17. I got rid of everything about twenty years ago. The only wasteland worse than television is Facebook. I use a service called "DVDs". And most of them are British, for some strange reason.
  18. This is a new one on me. While they likely have different roots, "grift" seems very similar to "graft".
  19. Quite marvelous, thank you Thorn. I have lots of reading and domestic things to do, and the temps are above freezing (barely) so I may not have to shovel today
  20. A few years back, the neighbor kid had a ten-dollar car with a five-thousand-dollar stereo system protected by a car alarm that went off every time a mouse farted, which was usually in the middle of the night. And in the end, the alarms have little value, mostly because no one pays attention to them or because the perp circumvents them. I truly believe that if a cost/benefit analysis were to be done on car alarms, including human misery in the "cost" factor, car alarms would be the most worthless thing every invented. Next to garbage disposals. I better stop. I haven't had breakfast yet.
  21. I don't have any impetus to go outside today, as we are having yet another late winter storm. Instead, I am going to sequester myself inside the house.

    Chapter 33

Having read both versions of this chapter, the change is very noticeable. Extremely well done, my friend.
  23. What Kitt said. Do you know what they call the medical student who graduates last in his class?

    Life Goes On

Another great chapter, tim. I've learned to keep the tissue box close at hand, even when there doesn't seem to be any reason for it. I'm not sure how you do it, but the intense emotions are always there, even during the most mundane activities.

    Hello, Goodbye

An outstanding chapter, definitely requiring a box of tissues. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent this way. Thank you also for the insight into the land and culture of Newfoundland, details which make this chapter even more special.
