  1. I haven't laughed so hard since the school burned down. That was absolutely superb, spot-on as one of my friends would say. Thank you for an enjoyable start to the day.
  2. Well, that was absolutely superb. A fun modern morality tale with a happy ending - but perhaps that's what comics are all about. As a tribute to your character descriptions, both physical and personality, the picture was exactly what I was envisioning - except I somehow saw Kyle with much shorter hair.
  3. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 3

I'll skip the oreos in favor of a piece of homemade apple pie. That sounds much more wholesome.
  4. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 3

I like your brand of superheroes
  5. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 1

Yeah, those first several lines had me smiling, too. And then it became clear they were in a public place and I must have been reading too much into it. But I still wonder whether the double meanings were intentional - or if I just have a dirty mind. 🤔
  6. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 2

A genuine role-playing opportunity for the superheroes! None of this fake convention stuff. I love all of the characters. Old guys reminiscing about the old days? Never happen. Your imagination is working overtime.
  7. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 1

I like the story, and it's educational because comics, like everything that was fun and not free, were forbidden when I was growing up. Or maybe they were sinful. I can't remember which. Looking forward to more "education"
  8. I'm glad that @Bill W pursued the pronunciation angle, as I was already researching it. At local "NASA presentations", the more "polite" form came to my attention - certainly not what I had learned as a boy. This link explains all, in much further depth than I would care to repeat here https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/uranus-pronunciation-pronounce-your-anus-urine-us
  9. A wonderful holiday trip into a delightful fantasy world that just gets better with every new episode.
  10. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 8

Absolutely outstanding, Geron. I loved all of the surprises and yes, I'll add myself to those with wet eyes. With all of the ideas @ReaderPaul has, you should hire him as your assistant. He could be a ghostwriter. 🙄 Have a great New Year.
  11. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 7

  12. Can one of you please point me to a link to learn more about the anthology process? My question at the moment is, can it be something already posted, as I have a series of four short stories in progress that I intend to post in the next few weeks, one of which fits remarkably well. Totally by coincidence, it even uses the exact phrase
  13. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 5

My parents (who might have liked Jol's reality) considered it a blessing (in the Biblical sense) to not have the evils of TV. I considered it a blessing (in a practical sense) because I loved exploring the natural world around me
  14. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 6

And how nice to work in an environment where you (1) get that feedback and (2) can accomplish all that
  15. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 5

My pen name is not without true origins. At that time and place, TV reception did not exist.
  16. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 5

I'm with @Ivor Slipper and others. I bet the only reason for leaving Augie behind was so he could show up in the nick of time As to Snidely Whiplash, I bet I'm the only reader who had to use Wikipedia to comprehend the reference
  17. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 3

The banker done it, and Lane saw him in a mirror in the jail.
  18. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 2

I'd bet on it. The plot doth certainly thicken. Lurch, indeed. That definitely got a laugh.
  19. There's one important detail missing. What, exactly, are those "four sizes"? 🤔
  20. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 1

Well, we're off to a good start with a now-fortified gang. Having missed a few episodes along the line, Robin, Amy and the office were new to me, but it was quite easy to fill in the blanks with the clues and detail you provided. And, yes, reading the Halloween episode was fundamental. I noticed "barn" and "February" in the same sentence - or at least the same paragraph, and surmise significance. 🤔
  21. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 8

Exactly the analogy I was about to make. But I also have someone more specific in mind... An excellent story, Geron, and I finished it just in time for Christmas.
  22. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 6

I'm continuing to enjoy this tale. One thing I appreciate (and envy) is your ability to create, with a few words, an environment that is so easy to visualize.
  23. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 3

    Precisely 😁
  24. Backwoods Boy

    Chapter 3

I'm late to the party, as usual, and I've read the first three chapters in succession this evening. Your imagination knows no bounds. For some reason, I felt like I was reading a theology text, and when you used the word cult for the antagah, I laughed out loud. Trying to relate to it in that manner, and drawing on another reality, I find myself thinking about the old testament book of Ezekiel and the new testament Revelation. Who knows, you may be creating a whole new religious perspective that will confuse a generation of theologians and fascinate future anthropologists.

I'm delighted that @Cia chose to bring this work to our attention. As I read, I was trying to determine how to express my reaction, but you did it for me. Simple, short, straightforward, story-telling often hits the spot the best, as this story definitely did. As an aside, like @Pup Cameron, I came here originally to read early stories by @WolfM. I haven't read much of your work yet. Obviously, I need to expand my horizons. Thanks for a great story.
