  3. Yes, yes, we are dealing with deceit here...
  4. Jack is a... wait for it... tree hugger!
  5. Chapter Twenty-Night – The Dark Inside Your Heart A soft hum reached his ears, worming its way through his sleep-addled mind. Vince struggled to open his eyes, only aware of a dull pain stretching from his chest to the rest of his body. “Vee, are you awake?” “Jack,” he said, his voice hoarse and weak, “were you singing me a lullaby?” “Well, I thought it might comfort you while you’re coming back to it. You wouldn’t believe it. A tree and a snake came to talk to me. Sorry, it

For the present to be happy... we will first need to understand the past
  16. Chapter Twenty-Eight – Fractured Reality Jack balanced on the balls of his feet while laying his cards down again. Funny how his first thought after Theo ran away – he was really getting into a bad habit, wasn’t he? – and Vee ran after him wasn’t to get dressed, but to read the cards again. Maybe he was getting a bit compulsive about this card-reading thing. But it was impossible for him to find a path going forward now that they were behind the veil, and well, something had to give.

Excellent theory, only that Jack might only be a small shrub over which Theo might jump.

To avoid having people waiting for you, the bonding part will be essential only later, and it will be inevitable. Now their adventures start.

I love how readers are starting to channel their inner Jack in the comments.

And people were expecting those invitations, I'm sure...

The part with the bonding - which is very important - will happen in a different essential moment of the story.
