Social media can be a rabbit hole. I'm on it sparingly, mostly scrolling when I'm bored to watch cute dog reels.
Yesterday at work, I was out on the golf cart (preferred mode of transport lol) when a couple flagged me down. An African gray parrot had flown up to them and perched on their rig. The bird promptly flew on top of the golf cart. I gotta admit, it was a beautiful bird.
The bird would let you get close, or give it a cracker but flew off if you tried to catch it.
I asked my activity director to post a notice on the community Facebook site (I don't belong) to see if anyone in the park had lost it.
A few hours later after multiple shares she got a response. A couple 2.5 miles away had lost their bird on New Years Eve when he flew out the door when someone was coming in. They were devastated.
In the meantime, my housekeeper and maintenance guy had managed to catch the bird and had him in their RV.
Ziggy was reunited with his owners who were ecstatic.
Happy ending credited to the power of social media. It was a good way to start off the year.
