So much going on in this chapter. Reality is settling in hard for Andy. I can totally relate to his mom. I think tim channeled me lol. Ahmet dodged a bullet... literally. Let's hope he can make the most of his life. I think he has a lot of regrets, but Matt is not one of them. Of course tim leaves Matt in limbo. The poor guy has no idea if he's going someplace better or somewhere a lot worse. Great job tim!

I only exceed my self-imposed Prime budget by $28. Not too bad.

After taking well over 50 trips around the sun, I still am gobsmacked when it comes to the sheer idiocy of humanity. My new job is big on continuing education... however, when I'm forced to take a six week course on the "neuroscience of communication", I can't help but roll my eyes. It's now roughly 10 hours of my life I will never get back because people no longer possess one thing... common sense. I'm not sure how much hope there is for future generations... but it's looking pretty bleak at the moment. Hopefully y'all have a good second half of the week!

Poor Matt. He must have been to hell and back if he's in such poor shape. Andy feels like he's in over his head, which begs the question-- is it ever OK to do something illegal? I think in a situation like this, if I had the means, I would do the same thing. I've never deliberately broken the law (speeding doesn't count), but I'll be the first to admit I've thought about inflicting bodily harm on someone on occasion. Society has laws for a reason, if we didn't, there would be a lot more chaos in the world. However, if people can break those rules for nefarious purposes, why can't they do the same for altruistic ones? Awesome chapter, tim!

You're right. Matt and Ahmet would have a difficult time in the real world unless they could find a place where they were accepted for who they are and the situation they're enduring. Ahmed has already said his religion is at odds with his sexuality. It's probably safe to assume if he has any family they would probably shun him for it. It will be interesting to see how things unfold.

Andy's life seems sad to me. Other than Maeve and his parents, he really does lead a solitary existence. Writers can be odd individuals (Hush @weinerdog) with plenty of quirks that make them difficult to get along with... hence why his relationship with Tony imploded. Hopefully he'll realize there is more beyond writing, doing book tours and existing on his isolated island. This chapter tells us a lot about Matt. Even though he is owned by Kanaan and abused by him, he's shown that he's capable of compartmentalizing that. He's developed a relationship with Ahmet and can recognize feelings of love... something victims of human trafficking often have difficulties with. His resilience is amazing. There's hope for him if he can ever escape his situation. Awesome chapter tim!
