    Chapter 1

He poured himself a glass of scotch whiskey, a single malt, his favourite and usually reserved for special occasions. But was this day a special occasion? Or was it a day he'd rather forget...... Six months ago Michael Lingard, Mike to his friends, not that he had many of them, had bean on the beat as a Neighbourhood Police Officer for the West Midlands Police Force. Since then he has been transferred to C.I.D (Criminal Investigation Department) and had been promoted to Detective Sergeant. Q

    C.P.T.F

This story is pure fiction and does not relate to any actual persons or events. A short and complete story describing 24 hours in the life of Detective Sergeant Michael Lingard dealing with stress before making one of the most important decisions he's ever been faced with, and he doesn't even know that part yet! Does he make the right decision? You tell me? No sex or romance in this story, sorry.
  3. Do I identify as being gay? Yes. Do I identify as being part of the LGBT community? No. While that may seem strange to many I'll explain. I live in Manchester, UK, it's a great place to live and it has a thriving Gay Quarter centred around Canal Street in the city centre. It's nice place to go out for a drink and meet others who regularly socialise there. In my opinion it used to be much better and had more of a community spirit which is lacking these days. Attitudes there have also changed and now most bars are just a cattle market for pick-ups. Don't get me wrong if that's your thing fine, but it's just not me and never has been. I'm an old fashioned one-man type of guy. The overall attitude now seems to that unless your sh*****g around and getting it on with as many guys as possible even two, three or more at a time, your not one of them. That being the case if have to be promiscuous to be part of the community, then I'll pass thank you and be a gay man outside of the community.
  4. The question is do you think there should be separate establishments for LGBT members. Well for me the answer to that is no. But there is another question here also which is, is there a need for separate establishments for LGBT members. Due to discrimination and lack of acceptance the answer is yes. What is really needed and I feel is wanted by many from the LGBT community is acceptance. Sorry everyone now I'll get off my soap-box.
  5. I've watched most of the films previously mentioned, but what surprises me it that no has mentioned 'Prayers For Bobby'. One of the stars is Sigourney Weaver and it's very well acted, with an emotional story line. If you haven't seen it I definatly recommend it, but I warn you that like many of the previous films make sure you the tissues ready in abundance.

    Story

I love the concept and the end may even have this sceptic believe in Father Christmas.
  7. A well written story showing some of the more gruesome aspects of life.

  8. It's awful to realise that there are people about like those that did this to Alex. But it's equally true to say that there are people about like Brent. A follow up would be great, like others I'd like to see Alex get past the trauma and be happy.

    Winter Holiday

It's a gentle romantic story the sort that a lot of us old romantics dream of. I hope that there's a follow up there is scope for one.
  10. A powerful insightful story that is very true to life. I know I've seen it. Brilliantly written.

  11. Note - I remember this day well, some parts as if it were yesterday, other parts are a bit more vague. Hey some I don't remember, you will soon find out why, my Hero had to fill in for me. But the memories are still there. This was a hard time for me so it takes a bit longer to tell. Thanks for still being with me, Chris. When I woke up it was light outside. The sun was shining through a crack in the curtains. I felt an arm over my side and a hand firmly pressed on my chest. It remember

    Invisible

It just goes to show that not only are there dysfunctional families we live in a dysfunctional society. I have to agree with both previous comments very well written with an unexpected end.

  16. Stories like this keep dreams alive for many of us. How many of us have secretly fallen for a best friend and hoped that they would love us too it never happens in real life but stories like this keep the dream alive, we need our dreams and we need stories like this.

    Trick or Treat?

A short but heart warming romantic story, a bit of a spooky end but good. Maybe that's the power of love for a loved one who has passed away.

    Chapter 1

Hi D.K, thanks for the feedback it is appreciated.
  21. I woke up. The pillow was wet. The sheets were wet. The bed was wet. I was wet. There was someone stood next to the bed. I was scared. I knew what was going to happen. I was going to get beaten again. I froze too scared to move or do anything. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness I saw that whoever was stood there was small, like me. But who was it? Then I remembered, I wasn't at home anymore, or in the hospital, so that meant it was Carl, the son of the people looking after me. I thought if

    Prologue

Hi I'm Chris. I live, work and was born in the UK. I'm an ok sort of guy, which is surprising really considering some of the things I've been through and I can get a bit cranky at times, hey we all do. What 'things' might they be you ask, well for now let's just say that I've had some professional help with those issues. It was once suggested to me that I write my story, partly for therapeutic reasons and partly because its interesting. I gave that idea a lot of thought over the years and de
  23. This is the story of Chris, warts and all, from the age of five to about sixteen.. Like all of us Chris has had many experiences in life, some good, some bad. He's also had successes and failures, just like you and me. This is about how he coped with the hand that life dealt him and started to grow up. It's an emotional story with many ups and downs, so if you can take the pace, have the tissues ready and read on.....

A good story well written and so close to home if you get my drift.
