Maybe I’m reading two much into it but this line- -makes it sound like Brian is saying that Jeremy being their age means he wasn’t young. Admittedly Brian may not see himself as young but 16 is still fairly young especially when you’re talking about someone dying. We all knew Jeremy’s death was unavoidable but it’s still hits you hard amplified by the fact that such tragedies happen in real life rather than just on the pages of a story. As far as the discussion between Brian and Davey regarding the potential future of their relationship goes I’m conflicted. On one hand everything Brian said makes logical sense not to mention I can understand him wanting to be out and not lying about their relationship. On the other hand right after expressing his insecurities over how he’s concerned Davey only likes him due to his alternate timeline selves as well as essentially to tell Davey he wants him to do whatever makes him happy in regards to his career he then seems to ask Davey to give up his dreams of playing baseball. Admittedly his reasoning makes complete sense but the timing sucks plus while I admit it makes a lot of sense it still comes off as somewhat selfish. Yes he doesn’t demand Davey give up on playing baseball but his comments are sure to result in him giving it up which is clearly his goal. Overall I think Davey might be happier in the long run if he did give up on baseball but I still don’t like that it feels like Brian is guilting him into it so Brian can pursue his own dreams. I get relationships involve sacrifice but while they’re only 16 it already feels like for one to pursue their goals/dreams the other has to lose/give up on something. To clarify I don’t think Brian is really being selfish exactly and he’s only 16 so it’s not like he’s exactly done maturing yet as you’re expected to be a little selfish at 16. I’m probably adding two much drama into it because I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I mean yes Jeremy’s death is tragic yet overall everything seems to be going too good. I mean now even Papa and possibly Granny are seemingly accepting of Davey being gay, Sean is living with Davey and is happy, Brian’s concerns caused some turbulence but otherwise their relationship looks good, WWIII appears to be prevented, and there seems to be little chance Davey will have to go through another Do Over so I’d have to say things are definitely looking up. Of course that’s when everything tends to go to hell as for instance in the last timeline when things started looking up Brian got shot resulting in his death not to mention it was the start of WWIII.

Mrs. Flores so easily having her own arguments regarding Jeremy having AIDS backfire on her is the icing on the cake. As far as the whole Jeremy situation goes I have to say these people are far more ingenious than I expected by using kids to promote their agenda. I mean it’s beyond despicable but there’s no denying it’s a skilled move. Glad to see Davey put the lovely pastor in his place and while he can claim Davey is a liar I’m sure they can find evidence to support everything he said. He should be happy smartphones & social media don’t yet exist as otherwise I’m sure the pastor’s true motives would already be out there for the whole world to see. Davey did come off as fairly mature but he’s been raised in a political family so hopefully Reagan won’t suspect he still has his Do Over memories as his actions align with how he was raised not to mention the knowledge he expressed regarding AIDS transmission is things he could have learned from his dad. 🤷🏻♂️

Trying to analyze or remotely understand Frankie is like a pinball machine where it’s simply pure chaos with the ball bouncing around in my head. I still don’t trust him yet but in multiple instances his comments where he seems to want to help Eddie come off as genuine only to then in the next moment he seems to be taking advantage of Eddie. To be fair to Frankie even though he came on fast he seems oblivious to when Eddie shuts himself down and Eddie never actually said no until now. There’s a chance Frankie just assumed Eddie was ok with what he was doing and is genuine about just being friends now. Frankie’s judgement may have been impaired by the fact he implies all of his other friends are gay, meaning many of them might be open to his sexual advances, and then you have his relationship with Charles which is....I don’t have the right words or at least any polite ones. 🤦🏻♂️

Paul seems like a nice guy and I always have appreciated a reader. 🤷🏻♂️ The loss of a parent is something that you never truly get over so I’m glad Edward has Romel to help him with his grief when he returns home. The coroner clearly asked more questions than Jared expected so he seems a tad worried. 😏 Still, overall they didn’t find any real evidence so as things stand The Fixer & Jared both seem to be safe. I agree with @ReaderPaul that Desmond's advice may cause more problems than solutions as while he has a point he has now stirred up suspicions in Virginia as she now seems to be somewhat expecting Jonathan to try to rip her off. As far as Jared’s presence at the enquiry possibly being seen as suspicious goes I assume this was either a public hearing and/or they invited the family so once Jared is revealed to be the sperm donor’s son I doubt they’d be very suspicious of his presence. I suppose we’ll see what happens as a prisoner might have seen something that would prove it wasn’t suicide. If there’s a witness will The Fixer fix it? @Wombat Bill What is this about needing time to write? Ridiculous! Writers are always so needy. 😂

Wow! I expected them to get caught but not by Mark. Mrs. Dee did apologize to Kayden for accidentally outing him but man she needs to mind her own business. Yes admittedly it was forged yet as far as they knew Emma had a signed permissed slip from her dad and it’s a bloody talent show so you’d think she could keep any suspicions she had to herself. In retrospect she was probably trying to save her own ass-ets because if Mark had found out about Emma being in the talent show he probably would have went off on the teachers. Interesting to see the evolution of these two where initially Trent was worried about being outed only to now casually walk around with his arm around Kayden and now Kayden is willing to give Trent a bj in public. Oh boy was the latter beyond foolish as Kayden’s rare moment of impulsiveness was bound to get them caught by someone. Mark comes off as downright abusive with the way he drags Emma away and I hope someone can put him in his place. I can understand Kayden being upset and clearly with his warped family dynamics Trent can’t comprehend his feelings yet in the end I have to agree with Trent that Kayden is being somewhat overly dramatic while also desperately needing to grow a backbone. I understand he’s concerned about not potentially being unable to see his family again but his home life is hell. He can definitely still see Ian and I’m sure he can figure out a way to see his mom & Emma “if” he doesn’t move back home. The one I feel the most sorry for is Emma as due to her age she’ll be stuck at home under such ridiculous restrictions for years to come unless something changes.

A Public Statement of a Private Act
NimirRaj commented on Wombat Bill's story chapter in A Public Statement of a Private Act
💀 🤣 Frank/blunt Jonathan is killing me. Based on this conversation we can presume Jonathan was likely indeed planning to take Lachlan with him on his trip considering he thinks Virginia may meet him soon implying their relationship is close. Of course I could be reading far more into this than there is but overall it’s good Jonathan at very least has a close friend outside of Virginia of course. The only thing I’m getting from Virginia’s comments is I think she’s tired of the marriage, is likely somewhat angry/bitter at Jonathan even though she is as much to blame for her marriage being an act, and she likely is hoping he wants a divorce now that the truth is pretty much out. Virginia also seems like she may be one to hold a grudge, so she may still be miffed at being called an old boiler. 😂 I may be judging her too lightly of course as I could see her potentially looking for dirt on Jonathan yet it’s not like she surely doesn’t have enough already. -
Sadly I expect the Rule’s cruel plan to reveal Jeremy’s private info may be impossible to stop especially as the genie is firmly out of the bottle. Trying to theorize on their actions you know in say 2021 they’d have already posted it on social media so given the time period the most likely outcome is that they contacted the local paper as “concerned” citizens who want to let the public know of a potential “health risk”. I’m guessing the town will know tomorrow because it’ll likely be headline news. It’s possible that they might be able to bar the paper from publishing such an article based on the fact they’d be revealing a minor’s private medical information but unless the paper feared a lawsuit and/or the Jones’ political connections I’m betting they’d publish regardless arguing it’s protected by the 1st amendment.
-
You know I already despise so called parents who send their children off for “therapy” but the Rules are way more insane & cruel than I had thought with the spying and plans to out Jeremy. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were working with some other homophobic nuts in the area like a deranged PTA. I hope they get a nice dose of karma. The reintroduction of Mrs. Flores/Marget was worrisome at first but her apparent fear of Mary Lou/Mrs. Hacker as well as how easily she was clearly outmatched was hilarious. I will never tire of seeing her knocked down a peg.

Always nice to be appreciated but I’m kinda scared. I hope you don’t reveal the plot of Nimir as I can’t imagine the content. 👀 😂 Edit-Eh, I looked up the plot of the actual movie Nimir...let’s go with that one. 😆 Cherry Pop.... I never cared for cherry coke but this is taking my disgust to a whole new level. 😳 I mean you do you but I think I’ll pass. Brett’s antics are annoying but if you ignore the footprint thing that could be an eyesore to other patrons not to mention how he had no permission to do so, I guess his idea isn’t terrible. Of course I have to wonder how many perves will follow that yellow brick road thinking it’ll lead to sex only to end up with less than a happy ending. 😂 Jared is very defensive when Thomas seems to casually comment on how much of a tan they got and while I’m sure his comment was inspired by his doubts & suspicions Jared’s reaction is not doing anything to help him not look guilty. I’d say both brothers after being alone together for so long have likely let their guards down and now don’t seem to care as much at potentially getting caught. Justin especially seems to have lost all remnants of caring for Craig especially taking into consideration his comment of “Poor diddums.” as that doesn’t scream sympathy, empathy, love, or anything except dismissal. I used to have some small hope Justin would feel guilty over his cheating and his relationship with Craig could be salvaged yet with every interaction between the “brothers” my hope diminished to the point now with Justin’s lack of caring I’m pretty much like ok, he can just go jump off a cliff as Craig could do a thousand times better. I wouldn’t be shocked if Thomas & Craig bond over this and end up together if only temporary. Of course our “psychic” only mentioned a relationship ending not two so one might not end...even if it should not to mention it could be a relationship we never expected to end so soon if at all. I guess unlike the seer we’ll have to wait to see what happens.

I agree with everyone pretty much so far in the sense I’m disappointed to some extent that they doubled down on their guilt trip of Davey over his not telling them about Sean. Still I’m not surprised as I get where they’re coming from and know it’s a very emotional issue that they can’t look at unbiased rather the disappointment stems from their unknowingly coming off as trying to punish Davey. I mean right after guilt tripping him and making him miserable Brian essentially tells Davey not to say anything about it because they’ve forgiven him.... Wtf? Like @CincyKris I suspect Nanny and Papa have been given thorough explanations about how HIV/AIDS works as I can’t believe David senior wouldn’t have tried to explain it to them and I just think overall they don’t want to listen. I do agree with @travlbug that Davey was given what was likely another chance to explain HIV/AIDS transmissions and failed to do so due to his anger. Still, considering their blatant racism which has no logical reasoning behind it I don’t think all the explanations in the world would have convinced them that their thinking is wrong. The best chance they have at them becoming more open minded especially in Papa’s case is his missing Davey. The divide between them and this latest conversation may hopefully convince Papa to rethink his ideas.

Obviously all of this is sending off major red flags but something about “uncle Charles” liking “cute guys” is screaming pedophile/groomer. We don’t know how old Perry is but I suspect he’s barely legal if that. Frankie not being violent is almost worse as Eddie while seemingly not remembering everything as well as showing some concern over what’s going on overall seems to have his guard down. He needs to tell E3 what’s going on or something as he needs the point of view of a third party to help him realize what’s going on is wrong. I hope he’s able to get away before things get worse as I can’t see this “introduction” being anything good.

While I still have trouble getting past my disappointment in Justin which can cloud my opinion of such a chapter I couldn’t help finding his naivety hilarious, especially his question of “The jungle has an address and a business card?”. I mean damn how can you be that easily duped? Ugh, the dialogue between the two was hard to read at one point in a sense it wasn’t super clear who might have been talking but Justin’s apparent interest in potentially hooking up with Simon was an added disappointment, though I guess once you start cheating why stop at one person. Like @Summerabbacat I also found it surprising that Thomas bought that story about jungle survival but I’m also not certain he did. He seems a little apprehensive about the trip yet overall was seemingly supportive and hasn’t mentioned his concerns to Craig yet so perhaps Virginia succeeded in getting Thomas to “try” not be suspicious. 🤷🏻♂️ I suspect that before it’s over some pic they send is going to accidentally show concrete or some other content that reveals they’re faking everything. Also while Thomas likely shouldn’t be able to see Jared’s bank account activity or the like I have to wonder how he paid. If he paid with a credit card there might be some sort of notification on a shared device like a tablet or something that Thomas could see. If Justin ends up ever using his card considering they likely share a business account Craig could potentially see that. Finally this is kinda basic yet on smartphones you can sometimes outright see the location a photo was taken and if you want to be super nosy as well as know how photos often have GPS info buried in them so either way I could see the pics coming back to bite them. I’d love for Jared to screw up yet he’s such a devious liar with somewhat professional training to help him lie I expect if anything outs them it’ll be something Justin does as he’s clearly not nearly as good of a liar. Craig’s reaction to the trip makes it clear he’s a little suspicious of their bonding as well so I can’t wait to see if he ends up mentioning his feelings to Thomas before they return.

Interesting twist to see Davey lose his resolve for a second and it be Sean who started off telling them what was going on considering it seemed like Davey had the determination to tell them. I can definitely understand why their comedic use of various languages to stall would start to piss them all off. As far as their reactions while I’m not remotely surprised that doesn’t negate the sympathy you feel for them. I can’t imagine the pain Brandon is going through nor the anger all three of them feel regarding not being able to tell Sean goodbye. On that subject in sort of a defense of Davey while he seems convinced not telling them before was wrong, especially with Sean telling Davey he should have trusted them, they’re kinda forgetting the primary subject. I mean what we’re talking about is Sean’s memories being overwritten and that version essentially dying so while they “might” have been able to handle it how well would he? I mean how would you expect Sean to react if you essentially told him he was going to die and nothing could be done to stop it? I can’t see that going well at all.

David senior has really changed and as far as I can see it’s all for the better. Jeremy’s situation is very tragic amplified more by the fact it’s a real life issue rather than a work of fiction. If I were Davey I’d find the situation even more depressing to some degree because he has knowledge of a future where drugs exists that could really help Jeremy yet they sadly don’t exist yet. I hope, even though death is all apart of life so my hopes are slim, that Jeremy can live long enough to get on the new drugs being developed that may allow him to live a longer life. I agree with @weinerdog that as far we know Sean wasn’t/isn’t in on the plan to tell the other guys and as it’s a big secret that at the moment is primarily about him he should be in on it. I also don’t know what the pros are vs the cons in telling them as if we’re being honest it’s more to help Davey not feel guilty about lying than anything else. Obviously I get Davey plans to tell his secret as well mainly as he doesn’t want to lie to Brian but in real life I can’t see this ending well. Davey has knowledge of alternate Brians and if you look at it logically an argument could be made by Brian that Davey only wanted to date him because of the other timelines. Not saying I believe that to be the case but it’s an easy assumption to make. Over time I could see Brian coming to terms with this news but while this is a somewhat realistic fiction the keyword is fiction as in reality I’d expect them to be on a “break” for a while as he would need time to process this information. Sean’s situation is slightly different and in many ways worse as while this Davey dated this Brian this Sean didn’t as the one who dated Brandon is essentially dead. Sean has no memories of dating this version of Brandon and Brandon’s essentially going to be told his boyfriend died which is not going to go over well I’m sure. Brandon may go into denial saying it’s all a big joke but either way I see a breakdown in his future. Overall I’m confused as I don’t think lying is right but I’m not sure the truth is right either in this situation as I can’t see it helping anyone except those who feel guilty lying.

You May Like to Live Dangerously Des
NimirRaj commented on Wombat Bill's story chapter in You May Like to Live Dangerously Des
🤔 An interesting chapter that reveals more than I expected to learn. In retrospect it isn’t that shocking the baby was actually Desmond’s but still I was not anticipating that to be the bubble of secrecy Virginia decided to burst. Jonathan’s comment about “her man” and how he said “it’s been going on for years” implies to the uninformed that Virginia has been cheating on him for years. That probably was not his intention with the wording yet ugh. Lachlan and Jonathan may be more like friends than just causal lovers yet clearly his former flirting with Jared & Justin along with his confusion on what Jonathan might mean by “we” indicates he may not be looking at Jonathan as a potential partner. For Jonathan’s sake especially given the courage he’s finally got to come out I hope Lachlan doesn’t break his heart but Jonathan might be just seeking him out as a travel companion rather than expecting anything more. I suppose what his intentions are will be revealed soon. Looks like Thomas has indeed been suspicious of Jared & Justin not to mention their plans he overheard yet based on his conversation with Virginia it looks like she may have persuaded him to be less wary. If we didn’t know what we know as readers I’d say everything she said made sense and I wouldn’t blame Thomas for listening to her especially considering as they’re blood brothers, which means most people wouldn’t typically imagine they would be having sex, yet I can’t help wondering how Jared will bring up this trip in conversation. If he upfront reveals he and Justin were considering going wherever it might not look suspicious to most people but if for whatever reason he decides to lie claiming he’s going alone having already overheard the plans Thomas is sure to be rightly suspicious. I’m now very curious if Craig has overheard anything and/or if he’s suspicious of the way Justin’s been acting lately. Sounds like they need to compare notes. -
The bet between Davey and his dad is hilarious. The loss of Sean is very sad and to me in a way worse with his memories replaced rather than him dying outright. I mean it must be hard to grieve someone when they’re still in a sense walking & talking. Still, this version of Sean is a friend as well which helps I’m sure.
-
Damn, that’s a pic. Technically the conversation we heard/read didn’t seem to have Justin & Julian explicitly stating the package deal meant dating to me even though I inferred that was a very likely possibility. Either Tristan has had a text conversation with them since then or they’re both very forward giving the pic they sent. 😂 I know three way relationship while definitely outside the norm can in theory work but I’m concerned that in long run someone is going to get hurt. Still, sadly being hurt is all apart of growing up. 🤷🏻♂️
-
🤔 Davey is a good little actor as I had fallen for his act and actually for a second wondered if the documents contained a letter by Davey that his dad might have been planning to use to try to trigger his memories. As soon as he clearly had read the Russian article without the need for a translation I thought oops, he just screwed up. I never thought about the other time travelers potentially being killed as mere children and it’s very sad except since the Do Over can’t be prevented I guess it was the best option. I mean the only alternative would be imprisonment for life and once they gained the Do Over memories they’d be a threat forever. Overall things went better than I expected though admittedly the conversation with dad/David about Brian did start out fairly bad. Still, it did end on a hopeful note.
-
I don’t know if sweet is exactly the words I’d use but it was a um touching chapter. I’m hoping in this timeline David will be more accepting though he’s not stupid so his stern attitude may actually be more because he somehow has some idea about the drinking. It would be an interesting twist if he’s actually upset about something less obvious.
-
...So as usual the other shoe drops whenever things are looking up. Davey has a peaceful life and poof potential snipers & murder attempts in general are thrown into the mix along with a need of a secret service detail. 🤦🏻♂️ This look into Sean’s lack of self esteem is sad especially when at this point in the timeline he’s had an ok life and has had Davey as a friend for a few years. It’s no wonder how bitter the alternate timeline Sean is considering everything he went through.
-
The meeting between Brian & Davey was very sweet but the best news is Uncle Rich’s new lease on life. Admittedly it’s possible he’s already infected but I have to have hope that this change in the timeline means he’ll be ok. Like @travlbug & @weinerdog I feel Brian has some growing up to do though thankfully we know the potential he has. The idea that Davey’s presence could help mellow the jocks is reasonable except that will depend on how much the Do Over Davey’s personality impacted this version’s personality. According to Sean in the past Davey could be a real jerk himself and theoretically joining this group of jocks could cause him to develop bad habits yet I think he’s been influenced too much by his alternate self to devolve into the jerk he once was. Considering all the chaos and death caused by his actions I can’t feel any sympathy for our dear scientist’s “accident” though it is good to see despite his apparent reservations that Reagan followed through. I mean I was/am much more concerned about the time travelers yet the fact he could see things through with a U.S. scientist means surely he has the resolve to eliminate foreign threats.
-
Admittedly Frank is going slower than I’d expect but his tone & actions scream rapist. I mean he “could” have actual feelings for Ed but instant jump to calling Ed baby not to mention the way he’s just causally holding his leg is beyond bold. Hard to believe his intentions are pure especially as he knows Ed has mental problems so it just seems like he’s obviously trying to take advantage of him. I hope Ed will snap out of his fear of losing a friend and will put a stop to things soon, though I’m afraid that won’t happen. Why can’t anything good ever happen in his life?
-
Jonathan was very frank in this chapter which is refreshing and I agree with Thomas that changes for both Prices could be on the horizon. Not surprised but still sad to hear about the loss of Virginia & Jonathan’s child. Lachlan... I think we all know what he meant. 😉 Curious about the hint he’ll be featured in the next chapter as well as wondering what the context will be as I could see one if not both considering his “offer”. On a more PG-13 note he could just have some juicy gossip to share and could even be the next person to contact the papers. 😂 Jared’s seemingly serious comments about wanting to join the club irritated me but he admittedly seems to be highly skilled at irritating us readers. I mean it’s a club for what I assume is the idle rich and he was just casually wanting to join while also expecting Jonathan to recommend him? Makes him come off as arrogant, spoiled, and entitled all of which I’m sure he is so it makes sense. 🤷🏻♂️ Not sure what bubble of secrecy Virginia can pop as it seems like few secrets exist anymore but you know we love the drama.

You’re Angry With Him Aren’t You?
NimirRaj commented on Wombat Bill's story chapter in You’re Angry With Him Aren’t You?
Like @Summerabbacat I find the reaction by these groups/organizations to be based primarily on homophobia especially the predictable reaction of the scouts who of course are “concerned” about their “image”. Going off on a weird branching topic I will say I found the whole donation to the scouts strange. I mean who donates a tv to the scouts? Sounds like a weird thing to donate to that particular organization and to me it again is an example of how out of touch Jonathan can be. Getting back to something more serious- Outside of the homophobia I think the public opinion is justified somewhat because Jonathan was essentially campaigning on a complex lie. Admittedly that would be fine if he was in the U.S. and running as a Republican yet clearly he’s not in the right zip code for that. 🙄 The reaction I find the most ridiculous is the LGBT+ voters who label him a traitor as while I can sadly understand the homophobic outrage or rather it’s depressingly expected I can’t comprehend how this group of bit...never mind, keep it clean. I just find their reasoning insane especially as you’d think many if not all would sympathize with Jonathan’s situation. The dialogue between Jonathan & Jared is intriguing as well as implies Jonathan is shedding his shell to some extent. He also seems to be gaining some common sense based on his comment to Thomas about having lost the campaign before it got started as I think he’s realizing he never stood much of a chance. I suspect Thomas is going to be let in on a very sad chapter of Virginia’s life yet I suppose we will learn soon enough. Justin is somewhat logically concerned about Jared and by extension his own self getting caught with this enquiry going on yet I’d bet money they’ll be fine. I doubt a military trained killer would easily get caught and I suspect if he somehow is Jared has a plan to save himself while throwing the “Fixer” under the bus. It would be lovely karma if he was caught yet I suspect if he were to be caught it’d be because Jared and/or Justin let something slip. The next few chapters are going to be interesting. -
Heh depending on what Justin means by “package deal” Tristan may be in heaven. 😉 😂 Looks like there’s more drama on the horizon given the new POV as well as the details seemingly revealed but that’s nothing new for this family. I wonder if they have anyone who can doctor videos as we know Tristan at least thinks he broke the window and that was assumed fact by everyone who knows how their abilities work so it’s hard to imagine the window was broken by the old bitty at just the right time not to mention it makes little sense. There is definitely more to the story. I’m trying to remember who everyone is in this cast of characters but technically Tristan is TJ’s clone not his brother and I want to recall at one point despite calling TJ his brother Tristan came off as being more like his son when described as part of the family so maybe that explains it. It’s a very confusing dynamic. edit: Apparently Justin & Julian threw me for a loop as I noticed that I had accidentally ⬆️ called Tristan TJ’s twin 😳 and while they are identical he’s his clone duh. 🙄
