Question: Kah-lay-oh or Kah-lee-oh? I know it doesn't make any difference as far as the story is concerned, but I like to pronounce the names of the characters correctly even if only in my head. Oh, answering by email (misterwill2@live.com) is probably best as I am going on with my reading of the story and might not see your answer if it were posted here.😀 Will

Hi, I am back. Local time is several months later, but I decided to refresh my memories of Poa. My life has moved on, but not much. I am now living in the Mata Atlantica, (the coastal strip between the main portion of northeast Brazil, Bahia, and the Atlantic Ocean.) Jose, my partner, has purchased a large tract of land on a hillside leading down from a dirt road to the edge of an inland river/lake 1.6 hectares, about 4.5 acres, and has built a house, barns, and a stable. Really he has built a zoo with a horse, Guinea fowl, chickens, goats, and just yesterday, nine new puppies as well as three border collies in addition to the mother. of the little wigglers. My contribution to the building program has been some funds from my retirement and SSA accounts. We have very few neighbors so it is quiet and remote. I have not been to the nearest town except to buy groceries for many months, and I have not had any snails since we came to Brazil from Portugal.🌴

My God, I am in a panic, my little dog, Brownun, had puppies last night, not that the event was unexpected, but she had EIGHT little wigglers, all by herself in the shed. My problem now is to decide what to do with them. Our yard boy will be given two, we will probably keep two, but there is no way we can raise the remaining four and out here in the Mata Atlantica of Brazil, we don't have enough neighbors to which to give them. WOW, eight puppies! I am still in a state of shock. Sorry -- latest news flash -- we are now up to NINE. Poor baby, I am sure Brownun is exhausted, but she is being such a good mother, cleaning and nursing the whole brood. I am going to have to read up on feeding mothers with such large broods, thank God for Google and the internet! I'll get back to reading in a little while...

I have the feeling that there is about to be 'an exposure' of Bailey's cutting habit. That is a serious malady and something his counselor at the school should have detected and worked with him on long ago. According to my interpretation of the symptoms, it is a precursor to suicide. I am pleased to see that Bailey is overcoming his aversion to being touched -- or was that a part of hiding his cutting problem. While the nightmare was unfortunate, it did give an excuse for the holding that took place for the remainder of the night and that was a good thing. Will

It looks like there may be a tradeoff in the future here... Declan gets to date Bailey if Mom and Daniel get to snuggle too. Maybe sometime that could turn into a double date!!!! This chapter is a little cheerier than some in the past, is the author's dark outlook slipping? Shame! Will

The expulsion of the two football team members, nor their homes being distant from the school will solve Bailey's problems with harassment. I am sure the wealthy and distant parents will see this as an attack on their precious offspring and will attempt to take revenge, probably in court. Bailey's mother and the 'lawyer' relationship still has not been worked out though he does seem to be somewhat supportive. Perhaps his motives are good, but because as an author, your reputation is clouded with emotional situations, I really doubt those motives. Once again, excellent writing and a continuing plot guaranteed to hold the reader's interest. Will

This is truly a watershed chapter. Parker is going to need a lot of support from his teammates as well as from the football team, the school administration, and the supportive half of the school, but most importantly, from Declan. The shit is going to hit the fan as far as Chris and Eric are concerned and apparently they have the resources to make it hard on Bailey in revenge even though that revenge will be misdirected. I am holding my thumbs wishing for a good outcome between Bailey and Declan. Bailey needs and will need even more Declan's support. There is another thread that is only temporarily in the background, what is going to come of Bailey's mother and the lawyer. I can see that blooming into a real problem as far as the estate settlement is concerned. I am not attempting to write the story, only to delineate some of the potholes ahead for Bailey. Excellent writing, and competent characterization. Will H.

Thank you for your note of appreciation, Some authors get really irate when I comment on their work, especially the grammar. I always TRY to be factual and positive. Unfortunately, there are some authors who believe me to be snarky and even cruel. My suggestions are merely that, suggestions. If an author chooses to accept them, fine. If he chooses not to accept them, fine also. But please do not take me wrong, I am merely suggesting. Will H.

sizeBottoming Take it from an old bottom, a VERY old bottom, the first time for anal insertion need NOT be painful if proper lubrication, stretching, and training is used, even if the top is more than average in size. The overwhelming sensation for the bottom is one of feeling full until the top bumps into the 'magic button'. From that point on the sensation is an overwhelming screaming pleasure even to the point of ejaculation. That is, in my opinion, the primary reason for the religious prohibition against sodomy. It is so much fun it would replace normal insemination, decreasing the number of new recruits into the religion. Just ask the ancient Greeks. One of the great joys of bottoming is the feeling of hot lava filling the inner reaches of the bowel at the conclusion of the act -- prior to the advent of AIDs in the mid-80's that is. Nowadays when any anal insertion without protection is so rare there is a great loss to the M\M community. Even with an exclusive partner, there is an aura of fear of infection clouding the enjoyment for the bottom. In the case of 'barebacking' in gay pornography, the actors, and you must remember that the men involved are actors, have been subject to extensive testing for any STD before the taping takes place. No porn actor wants to have his career cut short because he is infected with an STD. Ruptured appendix Unless there was a pre-existing infection of the appendix, a ruptured appendix from even a firm blow to the lower bowel area is rare and occurs, in the main, only if there is also a bowel stone present A bowel stone is a cemented mass of fecal matter in the lower bowel, not an accumulation of minerals in the kidney as is a kidney stone. It is quite rare. Will H.

Much to discuss: I am concerned about the stomach pain though a punch on the stomach is not a usual cause for appendicitis. Your use of the phrase 'going commando' intrigued me and I tried to determine whether its roots were with the Yankee or British military. As frequently happens, the phrase appears in the literature of both countries at about the same time, so whether it went East or West over the water is still an open question. It was a descriptive term used in both armies whenever they fought in the tropics as the rash brought on by tight underwear was not discriminatory. The other word I tried to check up on was 'woken' that is even more confusing. Awake, awoke, awaken, all are used and accepted, the only form to which it seems there is any objection is 'awoken' and even there the recommendations of the OED are confusing. So I will say nothing about 'woken'. It is possible to develop a serious problem in the intestines from a blow to the lower stomach area though it is an extremely rare cause usually occurring in conjunction with a fecolith - an intestinal stone similar to a kidney stone but occurring in the bowel rather than in the kidney. Will H.

Oral sex is not the certain transmitter of HIV that anal sex is. kyle may be lucky unless he has an open wound or sore in his mouth or stomach transmission is quite a low possibility. Troll Alert -- Shite is strictly British, we, Americans, that is, would use shit in a similar case. Other than 'chips', which I missed, this is the first slip in which I caught you. Will H.
-
Might need to be sat... Nothing wrong here either, just another cobble-stone word. I would recommend 'Might need to be seated... but then I am an asshole just ask any author on GA.
-
Whoops, I have gotten so used to seeing Britishisms in the stories on GA, I didn't even notice it when you sneaked in a 'chips', my bad. We use the word chips to refer to what you limeys call crisps. I do notice such words as 'got', not because they are used in error, but to me, it is a cobble-stone word. That is one the reader stubs his toe on. I did notice the use of Mr. and Mrs. without the dot that would be expected in American, but I checked and found those are approved abbreviations in British English so I didn't say anything about them, nor about quoting times of the day with a dot instead of a colon. See how sweet and generous I am. Hey, speaking of Limey, that is a word dredged up out of the past. Interesting, because the British navy in the eighteenth century fed their sailors Sauer Kraut as often as they did lime juice, perhaps more commonly as it kept better in the holds of sailing ships than did fresh lime juice, though it did not mix as well with their tot of rum. Rum was used because the men liked it and fresh water did not keep very well either.

See, I can translate English into American. Even when there are such words as 'manoeuvre' in the middle of the story. But my spell-check is set for American and it really went into panic mode with that entry. Also, I didn't have any trouble with "keen". I guess that is because I am old enough to recognize it from the first time it went around. However, 'different to' did give me a bit of a pause. Not because I didn't know what was meant, but on this side of the water we are more accustomed to 'different from'. But both terms are acceptable. Will H.

Okay, to add to that point: If an editor is worth his salt, to use an old expression, he should be willing to connect his name -- and reputation -- to the work he does. It seems to me that an editor is chicken shit not to place his name on his work, allowing the author to take the blame for errors. There are many excellent editors on GA, maybe you need one who has enough pride to accept the responsibility for his work rather than dumping all the errors in print on the back of the browbeaten author who has enough on his mind keeping the story going and the characters acting 'in character'.

Well, pat me on the back for predicting the 'loss' of the pictures. I knew that asshole Diamond was a dirty cop the minute he had the cell phone handed over to him. This was the only way the storyline could go. Now, something has to happen to get the evidence back in order or to develop an alternate path to prosecution. I rely on the creativity of the author to accomplish that. It was a good thing that there was no anal penetration involved for the psychology of the relationship between the two boys, but I think they are both overreacting a bit to the BJ. After all, it was forced not volunteered and it will not affect physically the relationship between them. Will H.
-
Just as was mentioned in several of the remarks I have read about this chapter, I am concerned about the 'chain of evidence' and the possibility of the photographs getting 'lost' by the homophobia of the Detective. Perhaps the fact that one other policeman has seen them will rescue those pics from oblivion, but I am not holding my breath. Splendid writing. Will H.
-
I notice in the heading for your story that you do not list an editor. It is he who is the person charged with detecting and correcting the errors of which we are speaking, not the author. The author's job is to express his creative skills in the development of the storyline. A good editor will respect the storyline and the author's creativity while allowing the grammatical errors that are purposely inserted by the author for the color of character speech. So, my suggestions are not directed to embarrass you, they are suggestions that your editor should be applying to your work. Will H.

Most of the comments I see are based on "Hurry up and post the next chapter." You are being very patient with those apes. I am fortunate in that I happened on this series after all the chapters had been posted, so I can move ahead at my own rate. Na, na, na. Comment on language: I have been reading GA for several years and in that time have run across stories written by Americans, Canadians, Brits, Aussies even non-English speakers attempting to write in the English with which they are not familiar. I find the challenge of reading a story by a native of another country facing the challenge of writing in English just increases my enjoyment of their efforts. Sure, I have to use a dictionary from time to time to get the nuances of what those authors mean, but their slang terms just add to MY knowledge of other lands [especially the Aussies. They find it impossible to write a complete sentence in 'Standard English' -- God bless 'em.] I have even learned when an author throws in a phrase in French, Latin or Spanish to Google it and get a translation. I love this as it only adds to the flavor of the story. Suggestion, you use the term 'Converse' when Troy refers to his shoes. Just to add to your vocabulary "Chucks" is a slang term I have heard used for the same reference. Will H.

First to get the troll out of my system -- you caught one homophone in the responses. Ruse not rouse, one in the story was site and sight, but you said it correctly in the next paragraph. Remember these notes are not a criticism, they are intended to improve your grammar, not to put you down. One consistent error is the use of an improper case of pronouns when an object of the sentence as -- 'he came to visit Sam and I this morning', in this sample, both 'Sam" and the pronoun 'I' that follows it are objects of the verb 'visit' With the noun 'Sam' it does not matter as it can be either nominative or objective, but the pronoun that follows it should be in the objective case. The easiest way to tell if it should be changed is to say the phrase leaving out the noun -- 'he came to visit... I this morning' just doesn't sound right. If you say it that way it becomes obvious you should be using 'me' for the pronoun. 'he came to visit... me this morning' -- much better usage. Now to put the troll back under the bridge and make my appreciative comment. I am enjoying the story very much and will continue to wait with bated breath [not baited breath, look it up| for each new chapter!!!! Will H.

TC2 - Chapter 5: Frantic Friday
Will Hawkins commented on Brayon's story chapter in TC2 - Chapter 5: Frantic Friday
I feel that Dad is in somewhat of a state of shock at the antics of the Grands. I do agree he needs legal help NOW. Before Rob is completely torn apart by the custody battles. His relationship with his, new to him, 16yo son is really sweet. No, Massachusets will never take any action against the Grands in an attempt to enforce the mother's will. They will claim no jurisdiction because the son is now a resident of Florida. They can claim Interstate Flight to Avoid Prosecution or some such legal BS. Of course, Tibot's history will muddy the waters even more -

The first half of my comment was something t the effect of -- My confusion about the spelling of brother name stemmed from an objection to using Tobit, as it can be pronounced like two-bit a slang expression for a coin used in the American southwest when it was still a part of Mexico. -

as coinage, there being a shortage of US coinage. The value of the Spanish dollar was pegged at eight to the American dollar but the lack of small coins prompted actually cutting the Spanish dollar into eight pieces, Do you remember the chant "two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar" that children use when jumping rope? That is an off-shoot of the cutting up of the Spanish coin. Trivia lesson for the week. -
TC2 - Chapter 1: Meeting Each Other
Will Hawkins commented on Brayon's story chapter in TC2 - Chapter 1: Meeting Each Other
I am already enthralled with a totally different father-son meeting. It shows great possibilities for both main characters increasing their knowledge of one another. I do have one tiny, tiny problem with the first scene and meeting with the social worker, however. My mama would tell me that if my guest declined a refreshment upon our meeting that I would be considered impolite to continue enjoying mine... I should put my cup of coffee aside and pour a fresh cup after the guest left. I don't quite know if this is still part of the rulebook or not -- after all my training was over seventy years ago and social rules change. Will H.
