Book Review: Mother's Boy by Patrick Gale
Mancunian commented on Drew Payne's blog entry in Words, Words and Words
I haven't read any of his works before, what swung it for me was listening to the audible sample and being able read a sample of the book on Amazon. It drew me in in a way that told me this is a story I want to know more about and intrigued me. The paperback version isn't available until next year but the hardback version is available immediately, naturally I want it ASAP so the hardback version is on order. I don't know if audible and/or print samples are on amazon for all books but it may be worthwhile pointing out when they are. I'm sure other readers find them a great benefit when deciding.- 6 comments

Book Review: Mother's Boy by Patrick Gale
Mancunian commented on Drew Payne's blog entry in Words, Words and Words
Thank you for this book review, it does look to be a very good read. I followed the link to Amazon and found it to be very affordable, I also noticed that there is an audible sample to listen to which I found helpful. This book is now on order and I'm eagerly awaiting its delivery.- 6 comments

Chapter 17 The Return Home
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Chapter 17 The Return Home
This wasn't where I originally intended to end this story, but I think it's fitting as anything more is a new adventure for the boys and Ind and Kevin. I think Grandad Ox is feeling just as emotional as everyone else, what do you think? There are more stories to be told in both series that make up The World, they are still in the planning stage and I am yet to put pen to paper. -
It's the end of this story, but it's not the end of 'The Story', that continues wether it's written or not. This is a brilliant story of one man's personal development that has touched me. Thank you for your wonderful and thoughtful work.

Loren meeting Geoff will help give him a boost, knowing that he has helped someone will increase hi determination to continue so that he can try to have a positive effect on more people. Taylor and Derek's idea of an annual NFL game to boost the profile and finances of organisations trying to help these vulnerable children is great news, I hope they manage to pull it off, TV coverage would massively improve its effectiveness. This is a great feel good chapter.

I'm just going to come out and say it, WTF!! What Rob has uncovered is worse any of us imagined, my blood was boiling as I read it. I know what I would like to see happen to all of the scumbags involved in this type activity, it's illegal but I don't f*****g care. I'd pull the trigger myself if I ever come across someone like this. If Rob would like any assistance I could loan a few characters from my stories to help him, some are based in the UK others are in Israel, they are specialists in covert undercover operations, 😉. Using their public profile to raise awareness and fund organisations that are trying to help children and families affected by these issues is a great idea. One thing I can't understand with the American legal system is, why is there a statute of limitations where criminals can get away with serious offences? For minor crimes like petty larceny I can understand, but crimes of violence, any crime of a sexual nature and crimes against children should be prosecuted no matter when they were committed. On a better and lighter note, it's good to see Jay and Loren having fun, including the girls and joining in with the spirit of thing's with the halloween festivities is what good dad's do. I just hope they don't get too many cavities from eating all of the candy, lol.

Phew, it takes longer to get through the comments than it does to read the chapter and now I've forgot most of what I was gonna say. I like the theory that Loren and Lars s called 'parents' are not really their parents, snatched/kidnapped? Maybe. Adopted? Possible but it would have to have been an illegal adoption. Foundlings? Possible but doubtful. One thing is certain, whatever it is about these people that claim to be Loren and Lars parents, there are a lot of other people involved in whatever the deception or cover-up is. I vot we call in The Sherlock's from NCIS and let them investigate, lol 🤣😂🤣 Yet another good and engaging chapter 👍

A great chapter full of love. I'm glad that Loren and Jay could be there when the babies were born, the moment of birth is the best time for parents to bond. I can just picture Loren's face when his daughters were born, he may have felt uncomfortable seeing 'lady bits' but seeing his daughter being born would be the most wondrous thing he will ever see in his life, I'm sure he would have in awe of the miracle of birth. I'm happy that Jays parents, especially mum, have taken to the girls, nobody with a heart could fail to fall for the sweet innocent beauty of babies. Now I gotta get to chapter three.

So the sperm donor and the brood mare want to sue do they, no doubt they think they deserve something from Loren. Actually I agree that they do deserve something from Loren, but I doubt very much that Loren would stoop to their level to slap them silly even though that is what they deserve. I'm sure that Loren will get over his misgivings about having twins, Jay is going to be excited and he will bring Loren into the world of anticipation and excitement of having two wonderful bundles of joy to spoil. Now off to read the next chapter.

Chapter 17 The Return Home
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Chapter 17 The Return Home
Thank you for commenting and the encouragement, this is the last chapter of this story but in time there will be more stories to come. -
During his time in Israel Tom learned that Emmanuel Joseph Goldstein was held in high regard and loved by many in Israel, all of whom considered themselves family. He only knew of one other man who could match that much respect, that is his old CO, Major Alexander Byron Oxley or The Ox as they affectionately called him. He knew that Ian and Kevin appreciated the influence that the two men had on their lives, he hoped that Benjamin and Joseph would also appreciate their influence. *****

I think Benjamin would be a fine addition to this growing family, but they will need to check on the requirements for Ariel to be able to travel to the UK. Tom and Dick's association with Ox/The Major is more understandable when you think back to a meeting in The Grenadiers Arms, when Jacob met them at his boss's office he made reference to previously used code names, when you take those meetings into account connecting the dots is easy. The next and final chapter is currently being finalised before posting.

Chapter 14 Benjamin's Secret
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Chapter 14 Benjamin's Secret
His expectations are high but we all need goals to strive for in our lives, some are easier to achieve than others. A compassionate doctor would be a good addition to the medical profession. -
They will do what comes naturally to them, we all know that will be something good.

Chapter 11 Tears, Laughter and Plans
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Chapter 11 Tears, Laughter and Plans
We all make simple harmless but sometimes messy mistakes, it's part of the learning process and growing up. This is a funny one that is based on a mistake made by one of my nieces when learning how to bake, I laughed till I cried when I saw her covered in flour. -
Chapter 9 Getting To Know Joseph Part 2
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Chapter 9 Getting To Know Joseph Part 2
Joseph's questions are understandable, it's not just being inquisitive he will have to adjust to a different way of life, luckily living with Isaac and Shamira has already given him a taste of what being part of a family means. He will have more questions when he arrives in the UK, the weather will be another thing he will need to adjust to. As for the air-con it is now put away till next year when I'm sure it will put to good use again, the seasons are changing and soon I'll be turning on the heating. -

I'll have you know that Associated Executive Car Services are an excellent provider of chauffeured transport, but yes they do have 'specialists' for some of their 'special' contracts, lol. -

Chapter 5 Meeting Joseph
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Chapter 5 Meeting Joseph
I can only describe Jacob a delightful lad, he loves easily and is very loyal to those he loves, surprising really when I know what he's gone through. I've still got my fingers crossed for the lads, it's going to take a lot to achieve their goals. -
What you know is always good, so researching the subject is always a good place to start, but sometimes it's who you know that helps the most.

Chapter 3 The Major Returns
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Chapter 3 The Major Returns
The Major's contacts are UK based and have affiliations in many countries, we will just have to see what can be done. An adoption will be difficult, can it be done? Let's hope so. Manny taught the lads many things, one was how to be a good employer, only good employers can hope to have good trusted employees and Sean is loyal to both Ian and Kevin. -

I hope that like me you have your fingers crossed for them in their endeavour to help Joseph. 🤞 -
Chapter 1 Reminiscing Part 1
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Chapter 1 Reminiscing Part 1
For many a first love is just that, a first love that fades and goes on to further 'loves', in their case it was a true and lasting love that still continues.
