You must also remember to take into account the trauma and emotion that is currently experiencing, that would only serve to intensify his feelings and reactions.

Now you know I can't answer that but I know you read on to find out.

    Enigma

In some respects this is a hard story to read, it's about the sex slave trade and as such it does play on the emotions. But this is not just any story it is a survivors story and the courage it took to survive. It is well written and hard hitting and a highly recommended read.

    Chapter 1

Thank you @Zuri for your thoughts, I hope that I have improved a little, but I feel that there is still a lot of room for more improvement. some of my stories are inspired by each other and some times there are cross-overs where stories are linked. This one isn't linked to the others but some phrases are used in other stories because of their simplicity and that simplicity is the best way to convey a thought or feeling. I think it was inevitable for Jack to come good and in a relationship, I wanted the twist that it would be with the person that he'd previously hurt as they would be the least likely.
  6. @Zuri and @Stellar I consider myself a sympathetic reader, by that I mean that I try to look beyond minor spelling errors and occasional poor grammatical errors as few of are perfect in our use of the english language. When I succeed in doing this it enhances my appreciation of the story being told. Often this needs to be done when english is not the first language of the author, for those authors it must be difficult as English is a complicated language, particularly when you also consider local colloquialisms and the use of slang, a good imagination is always useful in these instances and gives the authors story a chance.
  7. Thank you @Stellar for your comments and I'm sure that if others can feel the enthusiasm in your comments then you will inspire imagination in others and hopefully their own 'inner author'.
  8. “Mark you knew Manny well, as well or better than us, I,” Kevin smiled at Ian. “No, I mean we, believe that Manny intended to bring him home. So can you make arrangements for him to be properly looked after in the short term?” “The solicitor over there is my brother-in-law, he will look after him.” For the first time since arriving Mark was smiling. “Good, then we want you and your brother-in-law to make all of the arrangements we will cover all of the costs. We will be his guardians,

    Chapter 1

@ZuriTherapy is the crutch that some of us can rely on to help us be better people but it always an uphill battle. I have been fortunate in many ways in my life and to some degree privileged. As I have said to others in the past I have been brought up to realise that with privilege comes responsibility, as such I give a part of my time to live up to that responsibility in areas that mean something to my family and meant a lot to my father. If I could be half the man my father was I would be a better man than I am, he was my best friend and my hero and I am not ashamed to say it, honestly I am proud to say that and it helps me every day.

    The Last Goodbye

@Zuri This is something that was in my head one day when I woke up, I don't know if was me projecting or something else. I only know that it was something that I had to write and did so without thinking.
  11. My father was a closeted gay man who came out in later life, unfortunately he is no longer with us but what he wrote can still be read if you look for cognac69. As for myself I am bi-sexual but I do lean more toward men.
  12. @Zuri to my way of thinking all of the best stories take us on an emotional roller coaster, those are the ones that get a review from me. Although to be fair there are others that are still a good read. I guess it's a matter of scale.
  13. I will also say and unashamedly plug that I am currently writing and posting another addition to The Boot World with a new Lost Soul story featuring Ian and Kevin from the original story The Boot. I hope that it readers will enjoy it, other stories are still possible.
  14. We all have had our own journey's to find GA, my own was when my father introduced me to it before he passed away, it's something that I will never forget and will always remember. I didn't come to GA to write, I came to read, the first stories I read were ones that I read to my father in his last days. After he'd passed something sparked and I posted a piece of work that was in my head one day when I awoke, since then I have continued to write. I had some encouragement from others and now I write about things that matter to my family and myself, who knows maybe it will make a small difference, I don't know but I will continue although that there a some that really would like me to just go away, but I refuse to. I haven't considered collaborating with another author, mainly because I don't think I'm that good or that I could cope with doing that. There is one story that I could never write, it would need someone else to do it, but it's one that I don't feel I could trust anyone to tell so it will always be one that will never be told. I'm sure that a lot of us have a story that is in that category.
  15. @Zuri what I have done is simply to apply the filter for completed stories and gone back to the first stories. from there I've read the story intro or the first half a chapter, if it then appeals to me I've continued to read. Some haven't appealed so I've exited and gone on to the next story, others have had an appeal so I've continued to read. In doing so I've left reactions and/or comments or reviews that I feel are deserved. Some will agree with my reactions/comments/reviews others will disagree, but that's just a difference of opinion and we are all entitled to our own opinions. I'm just hoping to get others to find gems of their own if they are prepared to look, there are plenty there.
  16. I hope that you find my thoughts about stories in the archives useful and find something of interest. As for my review on your story, Subconscious Mind, I mean every word I said and it is a story I recommend to other readers wether they be members or guests, I definitely enjoyed it. I only leave a review if I feel a story deserves it.

    Chapter 1

Phew, that's one hell of a read. Yet again you've written a story with meaning and packed it full of emotion, you had me on the edge of my seat and then some. I'm happy that the Brian in this story did not take that final step, unfortunately there are those that feel so desperate that they do. So let's do as @Marzipansaid and look out for each other, let's also look out for those who have no-one to look out for them.
  21. Thank you for the recommendation @Carlos Hazday I'll be sure to look out for his stories as I travel the archives. I'm sure other members will benefit from this and any other recommendations.
