    Chapter 2

Thank you for your comments it's good to hear from you again and I'm happy that you are enjoying the follow-up, there are many events still to take place in this further snapshot of The Boot. Ex-servicemen do form a significant part of the homeless people here in the UK too for many different reasons, The Major is representative of our ex-servicemen and does have a significant role in the story, as do some of the other characters.

    The Boot

Thank you for taking the time to comment it's always good to hear from readers and it's heartwarming to know that there are people who contribute to help homeless people they need our help and support. The next installment of The Boot Three Years On is the follow-up which is currently being posted, I hope that you enjoy it.
  3. Wow what a twist, the missing return, but where have they been and what have they been doing? I guess that's another mystery yet to unfold. I can't wait for the next chapter.
  4. You keep surprising me with your talent for writing and telling a story, I'm glad that Ryan still has at least one friend and his new little brother I think they need him as much as he needs them. You also manage to keep the feeling of anticipation going with hints of what may still be to come, but you do it without giving anything away, I'm still enjoying it as much, if not more, as I did in the first chapter.
  5. Brilliantly written, I could almost hear Ryan's crying in the back of my mind, my first instinct was to reach out and give him a hug, then I remembered that I'm reading a story. Your style of telling the story is almost like listening to Ryan telling it first hand sitting in the same room.
  6. It would be natural in circumstances like these to get close to others in the same situation as you and I think that Ryan's feelings for Milan are sweet.
  7. This seems very ominous to me, I'm sure that there is more to the new couple than there appears to be on the surface.
  8. Loving the way you're developing the story with many different characters and personalities, you have a good talent for bringing it all together in a natural way.
  9. All societies need time to develop, it's intriguing watching how this society is developing, but how much time do they have and how is it going to develop? I'm wondering what dark secrets are going to be revealed.
  10. Even in a micro society like this there will be dissent, whoever wins out there will be casualties both physically and mentally. This has obviously had a long term effect on Ryan, but how permanent is the effect?
  11. A great chapter, it makes me feel as though I'm getting close to Ryan, but that's what you intended wasn't it.
  12. Reading the memories like this gives the story a real feel, if you get my meaning, I'm liking it more with every chapter.
  13. It's looking like this is definitely going to be a long stay on the island, that's both exciting and daunting at the same time.
  14. Now the suspense starts to build, disappearances, what next?
  15. The tone has changed but you've still got my interest, it looks like we're going in a different direction to the one I thought we would be going so I know that you're going to be keeping us guessing. It's obvious that there are going to be sad times to this story so I think I'll get the tissues ready now.

    Chapter 2: Kai

So the excitement continues tinged with some sadness, I hope that there aren't too many casualties and I hope that someone is looking out for Kai.
  17. Action in the first chapter, this looks like it's going to be a good read, I like it.

    Chapter 1

A promising start to what looks like could be an interesting and eventful story, I'm looking forward to further chapters.

    Chapter 11

The strength of character of these young men was tested and they won out, thank you for that I'd have been disappointed if you had written it any other way, you teased us enough you terrible man, lol. 😀

    Chapter 10

School staff often have to tow the line just as much as the rest of us a headmaster in those days was just another boss, that can stifle individuality in teaching staff as well as pupils and it still goes on in some schools. Another brilliantly written chapter.

    Chapter 9

It's a peaceful protest that is being interpreted as insubordination (wow another big word for me, lol) an error that is often made in society and was prevalent at that time by adults when confronted by nonconformance. The worst part of it is that they usually got away with it as the law only listened to adults, recent history is full of it and can be read about in many news archives. Kudos to the lads in the story.

    Chapter 7

There are many reasons for items like this to be discarded and many possible options that can help to restore them to some sort of working order, then they can have a new lease of life. If you don't have much cash available it's sometimes a more affordable way of having technology that is otherwise out of your grasp and for some becomes a source of income.

    Chapter 8

Unfortunately class distinction still exists and it stinks, to put it mildly. I hope the lads stick up for Lowry and succeed.

    Chapter 6

I'm liking Danny's character but as for Derek he really should consider himself lucky most room mates would have given him a bunch of fives by now, I don't think Danny is soft just nonconfrontational (that's a big word for me,lol).

    Chapter 5

I like the fact that you're keeping it real, that makes it more enjoyable.
