Welcome @Wombat Bill! I really must get round to reading The Covids eventually. Two reasons why I haven't, yet: I seldom read stories before they are marked as complete. If only because sometimes authors take a long time, and then I find myself having to go back and read earlier chapters to remember the plot. (And I'm probably one of the most guilty on here for leaving readers waiting for ages for updates.) Just at the moment I am actually finding it difficult to actually motivate myself to read. Probably a Covid related reaction... I promise to get to it once this funk starts to lift.

For lunch today, I am planning on meeting a couple of friends who are in my social bubble (including one of my male strippers), ordering a takeaway from the restaurant where we would normally have lunch, and eating it sat in one of their dining rooms. It will be nice to have a bit of a natter and some social interaction after a week of hardly speaking to anyone. I'm thinking of fish and chips (fries) with a side salad for. myself On the way there, I shall pick up some shopping for one of them. I shall have to be heading off to meet them in little over an hour. And, of course it's Friday. So with the short days at the moment meaning it's likely to be dark before I get home, I'd better potter around the garden with TN before I leave, and take some photographs for my weekly black & white challenge... Happy Friday, everyone!

My condolences, @Bucket1, to you, to your sister, and to the family and friends of your sister's friend. ❤️ It's always a shock when someone leaves us suddenly. I'm reminded of attending the funeral of a friend's mother about 30 years ago, who had also died very suddenly of a massive heart attack. I was stood at the graveside after the burial, and commented quietly to the vicar who had officiated something along the lines that it must be a nice way to go, quickly, rather than suffering and perhaps being in pain for a long time. It was remembering my own father's recent death following a long and painful battle after being diagnosed with stomach cancer that probably made me utter those words. The vicar replied along the lines that, whilst it may be nice for the person who has died, it is not nice for those who are left behind, simply because they haven't expected it to happen and had no time to prepare themselves for it. That short exchange made me reassess my thoughts...

One hundred and two years ago today The Armistice was signed at 5am in a railway carriage in the Forest of Compiegne, France. Six hours later, at 11am, the First World War (touted as The War To End All wars) officially ended. I can never listen to that song without it bringing tears to my eyes. The last verse is particularly poignant...

On my facebook page (which I hardly ever use nowadays) I have my occupation listed as: "Busily retired." Being retired means that I have the time to do the things I want to do.
