  1. Yes, being overweight is very bad for you. Ironically though it is stress fat that is the worst for your heart...anyone know where that fat is? Think pot belly...yup, stomach fat is the worst for your health, so if you got it watch your heart...and try and get rid of it too! Then again, lots of things are bad for you, smoking, overeating, fast food, lots of drugs (illegal and legal), not enough sleep, stress ...blah blah blah. Oh well, everything in moderation and keep a health weight and you should be ok. Most importantly enjoy life, cause if you don't...none of the effort is worth it! Greg (whose new year's resolution is to try at life...not joking)

I recommend you see the movie first and then read the book. Personally I find I expect way to much if I have read the book first. This way you can enjoy the movie and then enjoy the book...instead of enjoying the book and missing parts when you see the movie...or going 'that didn't happen?!?' Just my suggestion though Greg
  3. Welcome Connor, Hope you have fun here at GA. Dan's works brought me here too. There are lots of great works here when you finish with his works Greg
  4. Welcome to my life...all reflection and no do! Especially this time of year when we look back on 2006 and look ahead to what should come for this next year.
  5. Wow...this is so cool!!! For those who do celebrate, have a very wonderful and MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Greg
  6. Hmmm...does anyone remember the prophecy at all?! It leaves only one of two possibilities. Either Harry kills Voldemort or Voldemort kills Harry. Since it is JKR I expect her to keep her protagonist alive. Plus this is the seventh book so it needs some finality...thus Mr. Riddle will be killed...I'm calling it, its gotta happen, lol. As for others dieing, I don't know. I expect there to be more deaths in this book than all the rest but I don't know if any of the main 3 will be killed. I don't think she will but who knows. I do expect many close to Harry to die though. Interesting prediction Graeme...so the whole thing is going to start over again, eh? Let me throw out a real question...You guys remember the note in the locket...who do you guys thing is this 'R.A.B.' person who left the note. I know the most popular theory is Sirius's brother Reagalus Black. Any other ideas? Greg
  7. Hmmm, tough question. If I had to narrow it down I would say maybe John Mayer's 'No Such Thing'....or maybe Our Lady Peace's 'Innocent' But yeah, mostly songs match emotion not my whole life

Myr, The site is amazing...you have built a wonderful place that brings so many people together to share common interests and help each other. This has been a massive effort, and it does take its toll. Like you said many are burning out. So many come, work hard and then just need a break but it has been a luxury that you haven't been able to enjoy. This place has helped so many and had such a positive impact on the lives of thousands but is it worth the cost of one man's life? or the lives of all the volunteers? None of us want to see you suffer the hardships and the stress that you have been going through, you need to have a life too! So, I don't know what your decision will be, but in the end it has to be for you, and you alone. If you have the will and the desire to continue changing lives then do it. If you just need to get away from it all and salvage your sanity then you have to come first. In the end though it is your choice. You asked for someone to... Well within minutes of you writing your post here is what I see... These were all within 1 hour of your post. I expect to see more of the same over the next day...and there are so many more feelings similar to these that will not be posted, but they are out there. This site has literally touched the lives of thousands of people. They have come together here to share and help and enjoy this wonderful community. You have helped save lives, get people through tough times, brighten their day, be more open, come to terms with themselves and their sexuality, share common interests, make friends all over the world. Just look at the positive changes you have made in those you know, multiply that by 10 for those you don't know and then by another 1000 for those who have been helped but stay in the shadows. You have made positive, sometimes life saving changes in peoples lives. Is that worth it to you? I think there is nothing more amazing to have helped so many people, to have made their lives better! I can not express the amount of gratitude I feel personally, and I shall forever be in your debt because of what you have done. In fact that is why I have volunteered my time to try and help, to give something back. Right now I should be studying for 2 finals tomorrow but instead I am spending time searching through quotes and trying to help you understand the positive impact you have had on so many lives. I would still be in massive denial right now were it not for this site, and the people here. The stories, people and just being here with others have helped me accept who I am. That is no small accomplishment, and is nothing to be scoffed at. I am only one person, but I think everyone on this site, and those that visit as non-members have similar stories that show a positive change in their lives that is directly related to the hard work you put in. To me that is a VERY WORHTY cause. So, you have helped so many...hopefully we can help you in this time. By volunteering our time, supporting you and being here to provide a shoulder to lean on. In the end though, you still have to ensure you have a life, and a good one. You deserve to have what you are helping so many others to have. If you can not find the good in what you do and you are constantly miserable, then perhaps it is time for you to start a new chapter in your life...and all those who have made it tough on you and the volunteers will get what they deserve. I would hate to see the site shut down but your life needs to be your priority. I personally think we should all calm down, let the dust settle and hopefully you find an influx of support. Enough so that the site isn't taxing on you and can even survive long enough for you to have a wonderful life. If things don't improved for you then you will have a personal choice to make. I hope it isn't necessary, I LOVE GA. To show my support I am here to help how I can, I stand ready as I hope other members do the same. Many thanks and all my appreciation to Myr and the others who have worked so hard, may none of it be in vain. Myr Greg
  19. Well...this is my 100th post...yay!! Sorry about that...it is a big deal for me, I'm slow However, to add some discussion to the forum (for Sharon) I was wondering...if you lived to 100, what moment would you treasure the most? What is it that makes all of the harships of life worth it? What puts a tear in your eye, a smile on your face and makes your heart pound as thought the whole world is shaking? So...please share moments that you think are wonderful...places, experiences, scenery, life, whatever....they can be memories, or dreams or stories or whatever. Please share with everyone what makes your would go round. Thanks to everyone who posts, Greg

    A question.

God no! The more interesting life gets the more work I have to do I hope for boring, lazy, relaxing, waste of time days.
  21. Welcome Steven!! Your english is very good. Hope you enjoy all the site has to offer. If you have an questions feel free to direct them towards one of the team members...there is usually a coupel online. Welcome, again...and have fun! Greg

Hey Sharon, I know how you feel. I have been somewhat dissapointed by lots of great people leaving the site. Especially because I find myself getting more involved and they are getting less and less involved. However, like the others said this is an online community and that is to be expected. People's lives change and they can't spend all of their lives here. So it is a sad fact of how things go. Also, I do believe that there is a balance of stories here. I do like the scifi/fantasy stories but sometimes I just need to reach for something more...realistic. There are plenty of experienced and new authors writing all kinds of stories. If you want some recommended stories I'm sure we can find some you would like, there is so much to chose from! There is also supposed to be a balance of discussions in the lounge. Lately there have been less disucssion topis posted, probably becuase people are busy these days. You could always start some good topics and I'm sure many would be happy to chip in! As for keeping up with those who are not here anymore, there are other ways to stay in touch. I recommend using msn, so many people have it. In fact vic does have msn and I talk to him and others regularily. Anyway, I hope things warm up too, the cold sucks. Take care Sharon Greg
