  1. Since you are a promising author now you should be able to simply click on the New Topic button on the bottom right side of that forum and post story announcements. If it says you don't have permission to do that then just contact Joe (JSmith) by PM or email and he will check it out. Greg

    Cousins and Stuff

Hey Jamie, Wow, sounds like you have a lot of things pulling at your heart. Personally I would think talking to your aunt about this is a risk. It is possible that she will understand and allow your cousins to develop their own beliefs but at the same time if she perseives you as 'deviant' she may make it much harder for you to see your cousins. That I'm sure would be very hard to deal with, as I can tell that you really care for them. As for your cousin, it might be too late to change his views on this as it sounds like he is kind of indoctrinated but it is better to try sooner rather than let those ideas cement in his mind longer. I think the most important thing to do is just stay close to them, make sure that you are someonw who is always there and that they can always trust. Personally that is what I think I failed to do with my cousins and when they probably needed someone to lean on the most they had no one. Now with their parents devorced I never see either of them and one has already been through a slough of drugs and crime. I'll regret whatever part I played in not preventing that for a long time. Stay close to them and live with no regrets in being there for them. Hope it all works out!! Hugs, Greg

    Redneck Cheesehead?

Hey Joe, I'm glad you decided to go after something you are actually intersted in. There is no point in doing something if it makes you miserable, so good for you! Lets just hope you don't find computer science too easy, since you are a computer wizard already Greg

    Sexy accents

I would totally have to say Aussie, I've always loved it! Plus I agree with Graeme's interpretation of it. British is pretty cool too. As for the typically 'romantic' languages of the world, I generally think of them as sleezy but maybe that is just my missinformed view of people I have met that speak those languages. G

    US vs Canada

I'm inclined to agree with you. I am no economics expert or anything but I think the US could handle the oil costs if it wasn't for the tanking dollar. Which is probably due to the war costing butt loads of money every day. The US is in so much debt now that it has weakened the value of the currency. That should be a good thing for US exports but that hasn't kept the economy going too much. As for the social direction of the country, well give a country two parties and you don't get a lot of options. Add to that you have politicians that will do anything to get re-elected, thus they will bend their will to anyone with money or to the feel of the majority of the population. So when you have two parties serving the same majority, you get parties with close ideology. Even in Canada where we have 4 somewhat major parties, the two largest parties are on either side of the majority opinion. Sometimes I just have no faith in democracy at all....it is the rule of the stupid (the majority) and the insane extremists that are eager enough to actually play this game we call politics. Back to the Shrink!

Hey being able to see your ribs isn't wrong exactly, is it? *looks down and pokes a few ribs* lol, just make sure you are eating and that it is somewhat healthy, I know it is easy to forget when things are crazy, like on campus. There is nothing wrong with 140 for your size, but there is nothin wrong with 150 or even 160 either, especially if more of that is muscle....muscle always throws off the BMI index scales. Don't get too stuck on weight versus height indexes like BMI as they are way too simplified to be accurate, everyone is different. This is a LOT more concerning than any weight issue you think you have. Anything above 120/90 is starting to be a problem. I remember when I had my appendix taken out last year, I was so excited (yeah, I'm a freak) that my bp was 165/95, lol. Although I'm usually about 120/80 which is borderline prehypertensive. Anyway, just get it checked every once in awhile and see a doctor if it stays too high. Well maybe go easy on the salty things too....ie chips Take care of yourself jamie! Greg
  15. Wow, oh my goodness!! Congrats CJ, your in a league of your own Seriously though you add a whole ton to the site and there would be a big hole if you weren't around....and not just some 5000+ posts missing. Greg
  16. Is it just me or is this whole conversation just a practice of stereotyping. Honestly I'm kinda annoyed with this! Sure I understand that a lot of 'questioning' people will call themselves bisexual until they find out who they are and then call themselves something else. I also get that a bisexual technically has almost a whole world of 'possible mates' but you can't simply label every bisexual because of something one, two, half or even 99% of others in a similar situation would do. Me? Yes, I label myself a bisexual. For me I don't particularily search for a specific sex (male/female) in a potential significant other and I certainly don't seek people out simply for a sexual act of any kind to fill some 'void' or 'hetero itch' whatever you want to call it. I ideally would like to be friends with someone first to see how our personalities mesh and if things develop into anything then they do, if that person is a girl, a guy or whatever. I do understand that many bisexuals may not be a safe bet for most people, but then again a lot of gay/lesbian/straight people turn out to be a mistake as well. I just hope that when true love does come along no one will be closed to it simply because the other person is different in anyway weather they are bi, gay, lesbian, white, black, of a different religion whateve. Although I know it isn't a perfect world and no one is perfect. Still I don't think this type of stereotyping is fair or even the right thing to do. Greg
  17. Awwww....I guess Joe's house is out then Anyway I'm not voting cause I don't know what I can/can't do yet. I'd prefer to do NY in 2009 because I'll probably be there anyways. As for dates for 2008 June is out as I have a ceremony here to attend *sigh* and November is sketchy cause I'll be writing the biggest test of my life around then....8 hours of hell!! December might work as I could probably stop off on my way home for christmas. Well that is just my ideal but don't change any plans over me Greg
  18. Drunk or not your still cute. Looks like a good group and a great night.

    It's that time again...

Hey Joe, Well sounds like things have gotten 'interesting' in the last few days. In my opinion comforatble=sexy....or maybe that is cause I dress for comfort first The work thing sucks. Being promoted and being the boss of a bunch of people that may resent you for getting that promotion won't be fun. They must have chose you for a reason though and I think you are perfectly capable of handling it. One of the hardest things about getting anywhere in life is that you need good people. Sure you may be the only 'good' person/worker there but you can make a possitive change in the rest. As for the ex situation, yikes not my area of expertise. Honestly I'd be sad to see you off the market but if being with him is what is best for you then go for it. Just take it slow and carefully, 'once bitten, twice shy.' Take it easy joe Greg
  20. Don't feel too bad about that Graeme, I've heard that is an extremely common thing....and yawning is the most common way of doing it! Last time I was at the hospital I had an appendicitis. Every time I think about this I get a little smile on my face cause I remember the resident saying... 'You look way too happy to be having an appendicitis!' lol, I was happy I had guessed right and the whole thing was just a bit exciting for me....my bp was 160/120 When I was a kid I got into a fight with my brother, as brothers do. Anyway I threw a game at him to keep him from coming after me and well....it gave him a nice gash in the forehead. My parents punishment was to have me watch him get stiched up.....fairly effective in my opinion but it didn't stop my brother from picking fights
  21. Congratulations CJ!!!! I know you have worked tirelessly towards this end and I must say you have certainly earned this!! Your site looks amazing and I can't wait to read more of your works. Again, congratulations!!!! Greg
  22. What don't I regret?!? But that is my plight for thinking far too much....too many possibilities and I'll nevr know which is best! In the end, its best to live your life with no regrets, if you can. Follow your personal code of morals and ethics and if anything goes wrong, take it as a learning experience. That is soooooo true cause I find whenever I'm right about something I don't actually learn anything!!! Greg
  23. Oh....I don't know why I thought you had a bf then. Oh well....all the more fun for me Damn!!! Now I REALLY want to go!!!! *conciders waking up the dean at 1 am to ask when exams are next semester*
  24. NO poking Joey!!! Besides there are better ways to wake him up ....although I don't think a certain someone would appreciate me doing that Oh well, he is cute, so I would just let him snore away
  25. Option #2 for me. I think this is a great idea, and I would love to go! Unfortunately I won't know my exam scheduals until September and if I have exams the following week it just won't work. Even then I have to find a decent fair that is hopefully less than $500, as it would come out of my loans. We will see though.
